Nigeria like sensations. Doctor approved their own working hours. They can always adjust it, if they feel it's no longer good for them. I know Nigeria anesthesia doctors pull out of that nonsense long working hours, whenever they finished their call, they go home. But their counterparts wants to maximize their earnings, Nigeria doctors are one of the greedy set in the country.

I guess the people you are referring to are the consultants.
This young doctor just resumed this work only 9 months ago.
Worked for 6 months with no pay.
Just as they started paying,he passed on.

Yes, that is the job. The most you can do is doze. If patients come, you get up. The first call I did, I dozed for only about 15 minutes on the 3rd day. It was an extremely busy shift. That is generally the nature of medical work. You can't sleep properly while on duty, and whatever you meet on shift, you handle it as it comes. In a teaching hospital, there are usually no slow periods. It is the last bus-stop for the worst cases, so no breaks. Even eating meals is difficult so I usually carried biscuts in my pockets because there was no time to leave to go eat. sometimes, you're on the toilet and they're looking for you.

I wouldn't have believed the 72hour straight talk, but I will because when I had my first baby, the doctor attended to me in the labour ward in the morning around 8 said I was finger tip dilated but because I was 40weeks plus I would be admitted , around 11pm at night he was the same one that came around to check and then they now did cervical ripening.

By the next morning I was 5cm , I was shocked when I still saw that same doctor around the ward, though it was another doctor who attended to me, that guy worked for more than 24hours straight . I was still seeing him around by the time I had my baby in the evening, that's more than 24hours .

And we all know how busy general hospitals are, people were having babies steady from one mother to the other they were moving.

The ogas come around in the morning for ward rounds and they also call their attention if there's a difficult case, but generally these younger docs do most of the work.

Did I say they opt out of call duty? No, but they go home after the call instead of continuing like their other counterparts, I'm talking about federal doctors though.

That means as a doctor and u agreed to such condition without a gun to ur head then u have ur head examine because u are playing with high blood pressure, heart disease and soo many unspeakable things

U know nothing. After call,u continue ur regular duty. Nobody cares. During my housejob,I used to continue to work after call duty seamlessly. I remember then my paed consultation used to laugh at how disheveled and disoriented I was

That's why you guys fail exams, I'm talking experience and you are arguing with assumption. And were you an anesthesia? Let me clear you, I left Nigeria federal medical center before traveling out of the country. And your point still come down to my argument. Why wouldn't your leadership adjust the killing duty? Those anesthetist argued brain can never work thesame after finishing call that they need to go home and rest, they won it because they were right. Meanwhile, their obs & gyn counterparts will continue the marathon in a very busy hospital.
