Ahead of the November 15 and 16, 2025 National Convention, fresh crisis is brewing in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as a group loyal to Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, has given the party conditions for backing the convention

The group, comprising former governors including Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State Governor, under the aegis of PDP Eminent Leaders, issued a six-point demand, which the party must fulfill to get their support.

It was gathered that the meeting was also attended by Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP national secretary; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former governor of Enugu State, among other senior party members, ahead of the Tuesday’s inauguration of the party’s National Convention Planning Committee.

If by now these men have not overcome their pre 2023 issues, then they should be told to be ashamed of themselves. Atiku has never been the problem of PDP. He has left the part long time ago. The problem is getting worst.

If PDP was a genuinely serious party, they would have suspended or expelled Wike and his band of comedians a long time ago.

Then start on a clean slate.

The moment they kick out the worms, Wikes political career will die a natural death and he definitely won't and can't be tolerated in APC becasue the oldies there won't let him have his way.

His assignment is simple, frustrate PDP and water down their ambitions, such that whoever they pick eventually would have lost the battle even before it started.

These are confirmed Tinubu Supporters who have one contract - to destabilize what remains of PDP and hand it over to Tinubu.

I laugh at the many posts that I read here saying that Atiku was never the problem...
All of them were all there when they threw the Presidential ticket open in the last election, and none of those trying to rescue the party now said a single word in the heat of the battle then... Now they want to rescue it.... I laugh... Believe them at your own risk.....
Let me tell you the agenda, they know PDP can't displace Tinubu in the forthcoming elections, they are only fanning it for the 2031 Presidential slot when it will be time of the North.... You guyz don't know Northern politicians at all....

I had e written about this before and I won’t repeat it. Atiku was a big problem but he was merely a symptom of a problem with PDP that is foundational. PDP was never a party rooted in Democratic principles. It was a party created by the military (or if you prefer endorsed and preferred by the military) for transfer to civilian power. At the return of civilian govt in 1999, the people who truncated June 12 enabled the Abacha govt were mostly to be found in PDP. It operated not through Democratic principles of consensus and compromise but by orders and impunity. It worked when they were in power but out of power with nothing to share, it fell apart. Simple!

PDP was a military construct. It was the anointed party for the transition. Even the presidential candidate Obasanjo was hand picked by the military. That you had civilians does not mean it wasn’t a military construct. Look at a lot of the top brass in the PDP from 1999, a lot of them are ex military. OBJ,Babangida, David Mark, Bode George, oyinlola, Nyako, Jang, Atiku, Anenih, Alamieyeseigha, etc. Even late yaradua that became governor of katsina in 1999 became governor because he is from a military family! Go through a list of the PDP chieftains and governors senators etc, you will be amazed how many of them are ex military, police customs, DSS, NSA etc or people who were “friends” of the forces particularly the military. PDP was a creation of the military. That is where you will find the Ex military/ ex forces boys because it was their party. Buhari is one of the few ex military men that had never been in PDP.

That is the foundational problem with PDP. It has a culture of giving orders like any military/ paramilitary organisation that has filtered to its civilian members and is the root of their problem. They are not a Democratic Party because some people are still grounded in the old ways. That is why anywhere ex members of PDP go they bring chaos. Don’t also forget many member of PDP from ages 50-60 and below had their first taste of politics under PDP since the military had been in power for the previous 15 years so for many, that’s all they know. The only place PDP defectors have not been able to cause chaos is APC. That could either be because 1) APC is a well organized party or/and 2) they are the party in power.


Yesterday we saw how Tinubu addressed the CPC block, trying to assuage and assure them. Obasanjo will ruin your business, remove you from office. and let you know that you dare not cross him. That’s the culture of PDP (no gree for anybody) that is their undoing today. Another example is what happened with Ambode, the grassroots said they don’t want him anymore. If it were Obasanjo, he would have crushed them for daring to even suggest they were no longer happy with the man he installed as governor and wanted him out. Even Fayose warned defecting PDP members in Ekiti.."dont go and do like you do in PDP there o. they dont tolerate nonsense where you are going o, party is supreme over there o"

So yes Atiku was a problem it was merely a symptom of a larger problem.

Ortom? Failure in the flesh? Is issuing demands? Ortom can't get anyone in his own immediate household to vote for him. He is finished politically. The only loyalists and followers he has currently are flies and cockroaches because of the stench of his non-performance while he was in office.

Wike was the problem not Atiku....wike just want to destabilize PDP cause problems and bring challenges to PDP towards 2027 inorder for Tinubu to win the 2027 election easily...wike in a media that told Nigerians that he will lead and support Tinubu reelection in 2027..and PDP is taking such a person as a loyal member of PDP

The demands and the new people involved made this looks like Wike simple looked for ex governors with issues in their states, and they demand that their issues be solved. To me, it seems Wike doesn't have any card to play after Atiku left, but he has successfully manufactured fresh issues for the PDP. Lol. Wetin concern Ayo Fayose? Lol. Polotical views of Ayo and Wike arent so much in unity na. Wetin Ayo dey do there? Lol.

..abi..now it's an opportunity for wike to pick the presidential ticket for PDP he does not want it... presidential ticket he was desperately looking for in 2023 election..now he does not want it because he is supporting Tinubu
