Shebi the gbajue Tinubu that built Lagos is building Nigeria now. This doesn't stop the gullible followers from not voting him in 2027. |

Jokerman:I think they are shutting down. it’s same with shoprite everywhere across the country (especially SW that I’m privy to) |
| Re: What's Happening To Shoprite At Ikeja City Mall? by Osebanjo(m): 9:01pm On Sep 03, 2025 |
youngsahito:LOL. Una and politics sha. I think the problem is actually more than politics. Shoprite was busy shutting down in every country but Amusan decided to try his luck by acquiring the Nigeria franchise. Guess he’s just getting to know why they were shutting down in the first place everywhere except SA. I can bet it’s competition if you ask me. |

Shoprite is stylishly shutting down. If you have anything to do with them, try to conclude. JustRite is springing up in Ibadan currently. |

The government of Buhari initiated the erosion of the middle class. Then the icing was Tinubu policies exacerbated the situation. Middle class is gone. The upper class don't go to such place much. Any economy that has up to 70% of the middle class shows a booming economy. |

Due to the nature of my business, I can confirm at least 50 upper middle class families with huge purchasing power I did business with that left Port Harcourt alone. The ones in Lagos is countless. ShopRite is an upper middle class business. They left and there's no one to buy. The iPhone girls and broke boys only go there to snap pictures and look for clients to hook up with. |

Jokerman:Where did you see money to visit ShopRite Ikeja in this economic climate? |
| Re: What's Happening To Shoprite At Ikeja City Mall? by franchasofficia: 10:17pm On Sep 03, 2025 |
Osebanjo:it's all about politics. Nigerian people's purchasing power is dying everyday. Nigerians now buy mostly what they need to survive like basic food, etc, and those that use to patronize ShopRite and other big shopping malls now go back to traditional markets due to harsh economy. Nigeria's Middleclass population that made ShopRite and other big shopping malls and outlets to boom are almost gone; most lost their jobs, relocated to remote areas, some migrated abroad, many got kidnapped, so Nigeria currently have very insignificant Middleclass population all thanks to Bola Tinubu's thoughtless and insensitive economic policies that created more poor people than rich people in Nigeria. So tell me how is not politics? |

PulaPower:Even online vendors are struggling to stay in business now, only few are making it big compared to 8 years ago. Only content creators making people to laugh away their sorrows are the ones making good money online through Facebook, X, etc ad revenue sharing. Jumia, Konga, etc are all struggling to make sales now compared with 8 to 9 years ago. The issue is that the purchasing power of Nigerians have been reduced to the barest minimum. People are barely surviving in Nigeria. Inflation have wiped off Nigeria's Middleclass population, couple with mass unemployment, japa wave, etc |
| Re: What's Happening To Shoprite At Ikeja City Mall? by franchasofficia: 10:30pm On Sep 03, 2025 |
anyilalaz:This is the just the summary of the issue and there is no end in sight. It's going to get worse next year as Tinubu the tax master refuses to have pity on Nigerians he impoverished with his thoughtless policies by further rolling out demonic tax law that will further throw more Nigerians into poverty from January 2026. Honestly it seems the man is demon possessed because I am struggling to understand why this man is so bent on taxing already poor and struggling Nigerians to oblivion in the name of widening Nigeria's tax net for the future, which future? |

This was Lagos in 1999 before TINUBU transformed it This was the LIE fed to people and they believed. Anyway, in the SE they have mega supermarket chains still operating. They are not shutting down "LIKE IN" the Las-Vegas called Lagos, that TINUBU built. Again..Lagos in 1999..before TINUBU transformed it. Jokers.

Jokerman:Purchase power nationwide dropped Bad policies have led to inflation & money delavuation Tinubu is collecting tax for fun & isn’t reviving or creating new industries I see banking sector tanking too, Opay will take a lot of their customers It’s definitely drop in sales as well as loss in value of naira, they’d struggle to meet their goals when they try to get some of their profit out of the country I heard multichoice exited and sold to Canal+ also |

in early 2024, public Media reported that 7.2 million Small & Medium scale businesses collapsed in Nigeria with 0ver 10 conglomerate company closed down under less than 2 years of Balabluuuu tragedy. What the APC regime : Buhari & Tpain did to the entity called Nigeria is irreversible, they murdered hope & patriotism. |

Location of ShopRite means you need to buy expensive fuel to go do grocery shopping, that's a big expense for most families now. Alot of people honestly can only afford to buy basic needs making going all the way to a mega store like ShopRite wasteful. Also, you have competitors springing up offering just the basic supplies at almost every corner. Eg bokku. Grand square etc Finally, attractions of ShopRite was the different eateries, restaurants, lifestyle shops etc, all this stores are now priced out of most middle class people's budget and thier inventory are mostly "wants" not "needs" as most posters already pointed out. Naira devaluation (your naira is worth less than half of it's previous value), electric tariff increment, increased tax burden, 4 times increase of petrol price means some expenses have to go for everyday families. ShopRite is one of those expenses . |
