I am not a thief and I am not a fugitive. This is a contract between my company and the Enugu State Government. The Enugu State Government asked me to help them build a couple of things, a couple of projects which was very interesting. I was going to the state every week. In the middle of the project, the Governor said okay, he wanted to build a city and he wanted to build the tallest building in Nigeria, 69-storey building. I designed it and gave it to him, he said okay, keep it aside. He said while you are waiting for this, please help me do these schools, we have money but we don't have people who can do it.

I have never done these type of schools before but I knew it was cement and concrete and machinery. I knew it was arrangement so I said let me give it a try. I told the Governor this project is impossible because of the pricing, the cost of this is too low to build. The Governor said don't worry, just help me build these schools, don't worry you won't make money from the schools but you will make money from the other projects which I was very happy. Right there, I mobilised 42 engineers to the State, I love the State, I took a house in the state and I was there doing the job. I was travelling from Ezeagu to different different Local Governments, I had an accident that my back got broken but I didn't tell anybody.

Now, the contract got frustrating. When I took the job I knew it was difficult to do it because of the pricing. Now, when we took the contract cement was ₦7000, when we left cement was ₦10000. I faced a lot of people, sometimes we are in the villages, my staff are being shot at, sometimes they will have some people come and bring guns and shoot at them, I was still there but at the end of the day, things went sour between myself and the Government but I was still there. If I had money, I would have continued with the project but I had my other projects.

I had stress on my other projects that I wanted to do. They took me to court and I said okay, let's look at the whole project and how much have we spent. Till the last day, I was there with the project. They took us to court and we told the court we don't want to fight with the Government, let's agree, how much do we owe you?
I was in agreement with them and now they declared me wanted. They destroyed my company that I built but I am going to the EFCC office to clear my name. In the last two, three years prices have just gone crazy. If I am doing my project it's delayed, 5 years delayed, something I could have done in two years, prices of things changed, the economy went sour on me.

If this is all a disagreement over contract terms and conditions and if it is not the case of the contractor collecting money and not performing, then EFCC should stay out of it. Contractual disagreement should first go to arbitration as always provided in such contracts and if that fails, the aggrieved party should go to court instead of using state powers to intimidate the other party.

Come on, man! In EPC engagements, the first rule to observe as a practitioner is to never surrender your standard and corporate philosophy under any circumstances.

Anyway, I know that you'll come out wiser and more grounded after this ordeal.

This is a business matter
Where is the criminal angle
Do governments award contracts to companies or individuals
When there have been issues with bigger foreign companies does it become EFCC issue or even personal
Was he operating as a company or individual

If there is personal criminal behaviour he must be held accountable but let that be made public

So this guy is reason why the Enugu Smart Schools in every ward has not materialized as Peter Mbah envisioned it?

This is not tribalism but I blame Mbah. There are Igbo contractors who would have delivered that project without all this kind of drama that is happening now.

An Igbo contractor would have been passionate about the project and delivered it in the spirit of “Nkea-bu-nke-anyi”.

I hope he learns from this.

If prices went up, why can't you go to the governor and ask for variation like every other contractors do?

How can a professional accept a contract to build substandard buildings as SCHOOLS, and be openly saying it, and because he is shedding tears in the video, Nigerians will start supporting him.

If the buildings collapse, just like Lekki Gardens own did, and innocent children from poor and average families now die, people will be calling out government, Tinubu is wicked, Mbah is wicked... conveniently forgetting their was a contractor who knew he could not meet standards that took the job in the first place!!

Could this grown man who is already wealthy (thanks to Nigeria being a basket case) not just say No and move on??

Is it every contract that we must take in this country?

Anyway, he has shed tears now so it cannot be his fault.....chai it is good to be an "Elite" in this country ooo, these kind of followers there mumu never do
