The Enugu State Government has demolished a Smart Green School in Mbu, Isi-Uzo LGA, citing substandard work and structural defects.

Speaking to newsmen at the ongoing demolition exercise over the weekend, Chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, said the state’s team of experts and project managers, led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, had identified and flagged some substandard work by the contractor several weeks ago and had ordered the contractor to rectify these issues.

However, during a site visit by a team from the Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure on Wednesday, 16 July, the structure failed the tests, as significant cracks were observed on the building, leading to the demolition order from the governor.

If this is all a disagreement over contract terms and conditions and if it is not the case of the contractor collecting money and not performing, then EFCC should stay out of it. Contractual disagreement should first go to arbitration as always provided in such contracts and if that fails, the aggrieved party should go to court instead of using state powers to intimidate the other party.
Exactly, every contract has a remedial clause , the govt should stick to it

So this guy is reason why the Enugu Smart Schools in every ward has not materialized as Peter Mbah envisioned it?

This is not tribalism but I blame Mbah. There are Igbo contractors who would have delivered that project without all this kind of drama that is happening now.

An Igbo contractor would have been passionate about the project and delivered it in the spirit of “Nkea-bu-nke-anyi”.

I hope he learns from this.
If the tables are turned and I said this, all of us here will not rest for the next 21 market days.

People here have argued this isn't an issue for the EFCC

It is an abuse of power.

There are procedures to follow where there's a supposed breach of contract.
The problem is that anything goes in this country.
Nothing will happen las las.

The person declared wanted should go to the EFCC office to clear his name if truly his hands are clean. He's a greedy man, only him wants to do everything.

Oga, wetin concern Igbo contractor with this matter now?

All the projects the Enugu state used foreign companies, why did it not use Igbo contractors instead?

Some of these smart school project is already collapsing and sujimoto want to attract pity instead of going to efcc straight. It okay. Let's see how it goes.
Penguin2:
So this guy is reason why the Enugu Smart Schools in every ward has not materialized as Peter Mbah envisioned it?

.
But your governor said they had money he shouldn't worry and the governor know that no single expert in Alaigbo that can do such project that are majorly traders unless they hire Awolowo people which has been the case with some awolowos employed in the civil service to seek their expertises like in Enugu radio and even to head some schools.

If the case of all these performing multiple tasks,.sitting it aside without government finishing one in the agreement before asking him to start another one just with mere words of mouth that they had money. Contractor believing in the governor word's of mouth without without following due process is great mistake, then; sorry contractor; seems the government has used "Alaba market" and "computer village market" engagement buying fufu style on him.

However, until both government and you show us many signed documents and agreement between two of you, we can't really know where the cracks come from. Another thing that government needs to learn here is to take security of most remote villages serious where they always see foreigners as enemies and always ready to combat them with guns or should we just believe that those that usually try to fight them in remote villages where they toured are ipob/ESN?

Nigeria is a funny country. Enugu Governor should resign in shame.

Are there no procurement laws in Nigeria? Where was the tender published? Who were the bidders among whom you found Sujimoto most competent?

It's this sort of cronyism that these charlatans deploy taxes from masses to. It's the Governor that awarded state money to charlatans that should be arrested not the contractor who obviously had no pedigree to deliver the job.

He would have awarded 69 storey and a city to Sujimoto.

Can you imagine.

I had not even seen this story before I suspected the buildings would be substandard from his confession on that video.

Nothing is secret, we just have too many pretenders in this country.

Like I said earlier, we get the kind of people we deserve.

I bet you would have had a different opinion if it was a Chukwuma that was implicated in this.

So you now know the law more than EFCC and can teach the agency the law and their job abi?

This country will not go anywhere if you lots continue to defend rubbish and bend the rules once it’s your kinsman that is involved.
There is no justification for tribalism that you are implying here

I have built so many structures in this country that the government should have contacted me and seen how I deliver over 10 new buildings in a year, and still have zero case with anyone in Nigeria.
U need beta marketers. Get someone close to the government to lobby projects/contracts for u and he will get his own cut.

He goofed also. Even me a local house builder would fall into the shiiiiit. You don't accept contract job that doesn't pay u financially or else you'd run at loss. You collect extra money especially coming from govt. Can the govt give Julius Berger contract without enough incentives backing it up??

Just return the Enugu state money immediately
If prices went up, why can't you go to the governor and ask for variation like every other contractors do?
What about the work he has already done?

Who will pay him for it?

Just reading from him I can comfortably tell the guy is a criminal he is already agreeing on a plea bargain someone claiming he didn't steal if he was honest he would have agreed for the government to take him to court and he would present is evidence through is lawyers worst still he ran away.
Re: Olasijibomi in tears, explains Fallout With Enugu Governernment (Video) by gabbasin(m): 4:32pm On Sep 05, 2025
This guy is spewing balderdash, you're given a contract that you know it's not profitable and you gladly accepted it thinking you'll make up of the loss in a further contract you're promised. You didn't tell us the worth of the contract nor if paid upfront for the contract. You now come up in a video to say you had an accident in the course of executing the contract and your workers were shot at. All these are excuses in your failure to execute the contract successfully thinking the state government will accept filmsy excuses from you by not holding you accountable for the failed contract. Better go and report yourself to EFCC. It's not by force to accept a contract you know the amount you're going to be paid is not enough to successfully execute it.

MBA knows his people may end up delivering shady job that will end up kpaing the students that is the reason why he gave another tribe .

I have worked with obaseki during his administration he did the same thing as well by given contract to the south west people and foreigners and the people of Edo state cried about it.

So it’s not about him contracting the job to his own people but about someone with integrity. From the look of things Sujimoto has integrity

I hope so too! There are many Igbo contractors that could have done a better job, and done it with passion too! The likes of Spyder that commented earlier on this thread is good at these sort of contracts, and there are many like him prepared to do the job! I suppose Mbah was looking for a ‘big name’ in the industry to avoid the exact same problems he’s now having to deal with!
