He goofed also. Even me a local house builder would fall into the shiiiiit. You don't accept contract job that doesn't pay u financially or else you'd run at loss. You collect extra money especially coming from govt. Can the govt give Julius Berger contract without enough incentives backing it up??
I don’t understand him I swear, there is always price increase clauses in every contract and contract review if the payment wasn’t made within certain period of time,he is hiding lot of things.

What does enugu need to build the tallest building for. See how governors are wasting resources on useless projects
So far, the Enugu state gov’t had performed relatively well, so if they’ve done their due diligence and can afford to build a skyscraper that will put Enugu on the world map, then i say good on them! I’d trust Peter Mbahs’ administrative skills and judgment any day over and above that of present and past governors who didn’t build any skyscraper and yet still performed or are performing woefully in office! It’s not as if any sector in Enugu is suffering neglect at the moment because the state gov’t has ambitious and bullish plans for New Enugu!

Peter Mbah, abeg carry go! You’re doing relatively well so far!

Read between the lines.

He admitted on the video that from DAY ONE, the cost the government wanted him to build the schools at did not make sense, and the government apparently accepted this.

Which suggests even if not for inflation, he would have definitely had to cut corners to deliver.

What you people don't know is that this is standard practice for a lot of government projects and that is why a lot of them don't last or contractors abandon the projects halfway (if it even gets to halfway).

Most government officials don't go after a lot of these contractors because they've already collected their own part even before the project begins.

I was not there when he did his project (so I can't say if his own followed the exact same tune), but this is no news nor a major earth shattering discovery, everyone in their circle knows these things.
Na why Wike dey carry work give julius berger bdat....

You are saying this because it’s an Ayodele that is involved.

I bet you would have had a different opinion if it was a Chukwuma that was implicated in this.

So you now know the law more than EFCC and can teach the agency the law and their job abi?

This country will not go anywhere if you lots continue to defend rubbish and bend the rules once it’s your kinsman that is involved.
I am Yoruba but the story doesn't add up and the guy is only seeking public sympathy and trying to tilt public opinion his way..... however, what the op said about efcc lack of due diligence is very correct,......we don't have to bring tribalism into everything.

This is not tribalism but I blame Mbah. There are Igbo contractors who would have delivered that project without all this kind of drama that is happening now.

An Igbo contractor would have been passionate about the project and delivered it in the spirit of “Nkea-bu-nke-anyi”.

I hope he learns from this.
An Igbo contractor will not agree to do the job at that pricing,it's unfortunate that he believed Mbah.A state that cannot pay good money to build a school but you want to build a 69 floors building.

If this is all a disagreement over contract terms and conditions and if it is not the case of the contractor collecting money and not performing, then EFCC should stay out of it. Contractual disagreement should first go to arbitration as always provided in such contracts and if that fails, the aggrieved party should go to court instead of using state powers to intimidate the other party.
Hope, the EFCC is not making a rash decision - on Contractual Matters- between an Individual and the State?
Or how come the EFCC just came in the middle?
What are the Terms of Aggriment and Performance Bond?
Has it been Violated?

Why is he crying? You are a business man bro! And in business things like these are not new. You just have to face it. Doing a video is okay, but why cry?
Are you trying to manipulate Nigerians against Enugu State Government? It is between you and the Government, so you both sort it out if you haven't defaulted in your handling the project. You are supposed to be a professional to the core, no need going into a business project,.most especially with a Government without clearly defined project plan, agreement and funding.
I don't fancy people that cry to explain themselves. I perceive them as emotional blackmailers.

EFCC could not have declared you wanted without inviting you first. Why shed crocodile tears on camera, just go and answer EFCC call and sort your clients.
It is very typical for real estate agents to take money from clients and bale out out. Afterall, there is no law that regulates them in Nigeria. Everyone can simply give excuses of change in price but when the costs go down, you keep the profit

[quote author=AndroBlaze post=136699554][b] Sometimes I believe we get the kind of people we deserve in Nigeria.

How can a professional accept a contract to build substandard buildings as SCHOOLS, and be openly saying it, and because he is shedding tears in the video, Nigerians will start supporting him.

If the buildings collapse, just like Lekki Gardens own did, and innocent children from poor and average families now die, people will be calling out government, Tinubu is wicked, Mbah is wicked... conveniently forgetting their was a contractor who knew he could not meet standards that took the job in the first place!!

Could this grown man who is already wealthy (thanks to Nigeria being a basket case) not just say "No" and move on??

Is it every contract that we must take in this country?

Anyway, he has shed tears now so it cannot be his fault.....chai it is good to be an "Elite" in this country ooo, these kind of followers there mumu never do

YESSO!!!.
He has shed a few drops of tears. What is remaining is for Abike Dabiri to tweet this video....and apologise on his behalf. 😂😜

If you read second to the last paragraph of his quote very well, you will easily see the reason they invited EFCC in the matter.

1. He accepted that till this moment, he is still with the project, while in reality he has stopped working on it for long.

2. He accepted he still owed them something, which is quite contradict to his claim of poor pricing.

3. He also said the matter have been taking to court, which mean, the state government has already used right channel to approach the issue before taking the matter to EFCC.

Lastly, EFCC are not daft, if the matter is not within their jurisdiction, they would've stay off. Let him go and answer them, who knows he might be innocent at the end of the day.

undecided

Those who know something about construction projects and construction contracts have spoken on this thread. With what the video says, these inhouse experts have asked important questions that both the Enugu State Govt and the contractor need to provide answers to.

We'll see how it plays out, although there is that sinking feeling that we all know how it will end. This is BAT's Nigeria after all. undecided
Re: Olasijibomi in tears, explains Fallout With Enugu Governernment (Video) by okoloto: 6:00pm On Sep 05, 2025
That's what most contractor do. They give you cheap price and accept jobs they know they won't finish only to rope you in and take your money.
Then they firstly pocket half of the money you gave, use half to do a shady job and then come up with different stories.
Peter MBA is a business man and won't make trouble with you if you played by the contract terms.
Did you inform or put in for cost evaluation?
Why are you running when you can defend yourself? Its not all about shouting intimidation. Did you do the right thing?
Most contractors believe that government money is nobodies money
