This number is more than the population of Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic combined.

We are in a very bad situation.

This is scary. Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gunpowder. I made a comment on this a few days back. Come to lagos and see them playing either snooker or chess at every junction. They argue over messi and ronaldo from morning till evening, doing nothing. Some of them are artisans but no customer. I really pity this generation. Sadly, most of them still vote the leaders who had rendered their lives worthless out of sentiments.

Oga, rest! For every unemployable 6, there are 3 employable applicants. You are only focusing on those that are unemployable. Take a walk down your street and see the number of brilliant minds without jobs.

What is happening to Nigeria is beyond unemployability; the problem is that the jobs aren't just available. I don't even want to talk about the number of people doing their second-best jobs.
You have a point here, the dude you quoted also has a point.

When a reasonable majority of people interviewed are not employable won't it be logical to draw conclusion??

Many of them are here praising their oppressors and urging them to pilfer their resources. Oshodi axis use to have many industries, most of them today are churches. Same with Otta, bad roads has forced them to close shops. Every junction in LAGOS now have young men doing drugs and drinking their futures away, collecting owomida. grin grin grin grin
I wish I had read your post before dropping mine. We're on same page bro. Anyone who reads mine would think the monikers owned by same person hiding under 2 moniker as many of them do here.

Lagos situation is worrisome. I could post some pictures taken each time i walk or drive past them but not necessary. Some of them are NL members. I need to protect their privacy. Anything can happen anytime in this nation and I won't be surprised. Nobody saw endsars coming afterall

Yes..and it's population. Sadly we are blessed with both but not using them for our benefit. See India, China, even Kenya and Ethiopia today for instance. Blame bad leaders for our woes as a nation and those voting them into political offices out of sentiments

This is no good news if they got the statistics right.
Don't be surprised Nigeria is nearly 300m in population. Our leaders know our exact population figure but always hiding it. That's why they keep postponing sensors.

Definitely exaggerated even though I agree that the number of unemployed youth is alarming. It's a serious problem in itself, with far-reaching effects including an increasing number of single women in menopause and rising crime rates.
i dont regard statistics where the methodology of its collection are not expressly stated.

As in ehh, they are usually more than passengers waiting for bus. Funny enough I was in Jos 2023 during Easter and couldn't find such as well as Abuja, you see these jobless youths supporting this government it's because they don't pay for anything, they don't pay for food, rent, like bills generally, transportation etc. but you see Nigeria always get the leader they deserve when some group of touts will come out to protest and counter peaceful protesters that they don't have rights to protest and sometimes harm the peaceful protesters in the presence of security officers and no consequence to their actions.

Soon the rate of unemployed youths in Nigeria might increased to 100% if care's not taken..

Stop telling lies out of hate and spite.

Name the “used military equipment” you claim Nigeria spent “billions of dollars” on.

Name them, or be condemned as a liar.
Re: Over 80m Nigerian Youths Unemployed – Report by Kemetian: 3:07pm On Sep 05, 2025
In the SAME COUNTRY that says “80 million youths are unemployed”, WOMEN spend $ 1 Billion a year on IMPORTED DOG HAIR from Brazil.

If they decided to DITCH that and use AFRICAN plaits and braids, it could create a minimum 10 million new jobs for local, indigenous girls and hair stylists.

If Nigerians decided to USE THEIR SENSE, stop feeling inferior to foreigners, and learn to PREFER Nigerian-made shoes, bags, clothes, cars, to FOREIGN, it will BOOST local industries and create TENS OF MILLIONS of jobs.

But today if you show the average Nigerian a Swiss made watch and a Nigerian made watch, and ask him to choose one, he’ll go for the Swiss watch.

So WHAT encouragement does that give to a local talented youth that wants to go into watch making?

Zero.

Multiply that by millions of talented people held back by a nation that prefers imports to its own locally produced goods, and it’s EASY to see why there are so few jobs.

Change your mentality and jobs will abound.

Many people abusing the govt are driving around in expensive imported cars.

INNOSON can only sell to FG and state govts, because the average Nigerian with money prefers Toyota, Nissan and BMW.

The same average Nigerian abusing the govt for “unemployment”.

The same woman cursing the govt for “no jobs” will reject any locally made handbag, no matter how beautiful, if she sees an ugly bag with “Fendi” or “Gucci” stamped on it.

Lost people.

Sadly most of them are already warming up to collect Tinubu's 5k in 2027 and vote for him again.
Bros, shey you go blame most of them? Gov' is using systemic hunger to hold people down.
It is hard to make an informed decision when one is hungry and hopelesss... The people need hope and gov suppports(enabling environ', people friendly policies to thrive).

I just watched a brief document on singapore. Most of the interviewees accepted that most gov' policies are friendly. The one issue they shared was the Authoritatrian style of ruling, e.g freedom of speech, expressing your thoughts anyhow and protesting anyhow, too. The death penalty still dey their books.
Them no get issue, i swear. Even the great democracy go mess you up if talk pass youself.

Very important to look for genuine alternatives especially from online. In this computer age, many legit ways to earn online. Some youths are not ready for this
Few online opportunities are available these days. Unlike between 2015 to 2020 when setting up freelance accounts like fiverr and Upwork used to be easy.

I remember before my foremost fiverr account got disabled, it made total of 80$k all time.

And my Upwork account was occasionally making steady income.
After this era, these platforms have now become a death zone.
I opened one early this year with no review yet managed to bank $50 gig got the job done and immediately I processed for withdrawal, and got paid, Fiverr struck yet again- disabled my account.

And for other online hustles like blogging- it’s a long term investment and highly risky. One single Google update can water down months of efforts.

The online business is not what it used to be anymore. Although I am experimenting a few services with some twists and see how it all pans out.

Oga it's not exaggerated, though some percentage of the unemployed youths are into very petty businesses, businesses that barely yield 100k profit monthly.
