My Dear Abike, When I watched you take the oath of office as Chairman/CEO of NIDCOM in 2018, I felt the pride of an old man who had seen another daughter climb the ladder. Your résumé sparkled; your tongue carried both Yoruba sweetness and the clipped confidence of the global boardroom. I told my wife, “This one will make us proud.” Years later, I am writing you an open letter because the silence of elders has often been the womb of national miscarriages. I write as a father, a Nigerian, and—if you will permit me—an Igbo man whose ancestors traded kola nuts across the Niger long before the word diaspora was minted. --- 1. The cracks we ignored First, it was the 2020 “re-tweet” affair: a viral post that labelled Igbo travellers “noisy smugglers.” You deleted it, but the screenshot demons had already done their work. Then came the 2021 evacuation flights from Dubai; stories spread that your list carried more Yoruba surnames per square inch than the Lagos census. You blamed “logistics,” but wounded people do not count spreadsheets—they count hearts. Last year, the scandal of the “missing 40 million dollars” in unremitted diaspora bond contributions was eventually traced to a procedural hole. Yet the first name the social media jury convicted was “that Igbo director,” whom you hastily suspended—only to reinstate quietly when the smoke cleared. Each episode, standing alone, could be dismissed as a storm in a Twitter teacup. But strung together, they form a pattern no public-relations perfume can disguise. --- 2. The tweet that broke the camel’s back Three nights ago, you re-posted a slur that caricatured Ndigbo as a “stateless tribe that can only shout Biafra.” Within minutes your “RT≠endorsement” disclaimer arrived, but the harm was nuclear. An entire generation of Igbo techies in Winnipeg, Atlanta, and Kuala Lumpur—many who had never uttered the word “Biafra”—now quote it over breakfast. A London cab driver of Igbo extraction sent me a voice note: “Engr., I’m removing the green-white-green from my dashboard; my children will not be insulted in my own car.” That, Abike, is how nations fracture—one careless click at a time. --- 3. The disaster you are courting Let me speak plainly. The Igbo nation you caricature is the same that produced the silicon chips powering the phone in your handbag. The same tribe you deride owns 68 percent of the small-scale factories in Aba that kept Nigerian soldiers booted during the civil war. Diaspora remittances from Ndigbo alone last year equalled the oil revenues of two South-South states combined. If they choose tomorrow to route those dollars through Ghanaian or Kenyan fintech apps, the naira will dance naked in the market. Politically, a wounded ethnic bloc in Nigeria is a lit match near a petrol tank. I have seen three civil conflicts in my lifetime. A fourth, if it ever comes, will not respect VIP armour. And when the fire starts, the arsonist is often the first casualty of the smoke he inhaled while lighting the match. --- 4. The olive branch: seven steps back to the light a) Public confession: Book a live TV interview—not a press release—and read the exact tweet aloud. Then apologise without the usual “if I was misunderstood” clause. Nigerians forgive genuine contrition; they reject apologies dressed in cosmetics. b) Igbo advisory council: Within 30 days, constitute a 12-person council of Igbo professionals in diaspora (not politicians) and grant them quarterly, unfettered access to your board papers. Publish their reports. c) The audit of shame: Commission an external audit of every NIDCOM contract awarded since 2019, categorise them by the ethnicity of the lead contractors, and publish the results on your website. Sunlight remains the cheapest disinfectant. d) Language immersion: Spend two weekends in Enugu and two in Owerri—not for photo-ops, but in town-hall meetings conducted entirely in Igbo. Let the people shout at you in their mother tongue; you will discover that anger loses its venom when heard in one’s own language. e) The 50-50 rule: For every town-hall you hold in Yorubaland, hold one in the South-East until the balance is restored. The diaspora is not a monolith that ends at the Seme border. f) Scholarships named after victims: Create a ₦100 million annual scholarship for Igbo girls in STEM, named after the five Igbo traders killed in the 2022 Abuja market riot. Nothing heals like educating the next generation in the name of the last generation’s pain. g) The fast of the tongue: Take a voluntary 90-day break from personal social media handles. Let your media team speak for you while you relearn the discipline of silence. The Igbo say, “When the mouth eats kola nut twice, it forgets the teeth are few.” --- 5. The final warning History is a cruel auditor; it balances books with blood when necessary. I have seen powerful men reduced to paragraphs because they thought tribe was a playground. You still have time to choose the paragraph you wish to occupy: the one that says “she rebuilt the bridge,” or the one that begins “she once had promise…” When you were sworn in, you placed your left hand on the Constitution, not on a sectional hymn book. The diaspora you serve is 17 million shades of Nigerian—not a monochrome. Heal the wound now, or the wound will heal itself at your expense. May the God who watches over the Niger and the Benue guide your steps back to the centre, where every Nigerian can claim you as daughter. With a father’s heavy heart, Chidi Ekeh chidiekeh@yahoo.com |

NIDCOM was not created to be a standby free legal aid services for ibo criminals in the diaspora. The functions of the commission go beyond visiting prisons and police stations to offer legal aid and advise. The issue ibos have against this woman is because she openly declared the bitter truth on IBO criminal diaspora to which she called for deep retrospective review in why Anambra state has been at the forefront of drug peddling and trafficking I remember how Edo state goverment hosted a diplomatic delegation from the Italian government that was investigating what was at the root of the prostitution racket and trafficking of Edo girls Governor Lucky Igbenedion welcomed and hosted the Italian delegation and put in place legislation to thwart human trafficking. The FG built up on what the Edo state government was doing by legislation to create a brand new agency dedicated to curbing human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Edo people did not insult the Italian government or their governor . The only reason the entire ibos now hate this woman is because she said the bitter truth and advised people from the SE to stop delving into crime abroad. Her problem started when she came out to state the Nigerians in SA where the ones killing themselves over turf wars for drug peddling and that even though xenophobic attacks do occur, majority of murders were carried out by Ibos on their fellow ibos. That was when these people all began to insult her |

| Re: An Open Letter To A Bike Dabiri by sreamsense: 9:08pm On Sep 05, 2025 |
SeeWahala:Bring the statistics of criminalities from 1960 till date of the three major tribes in Nigeria and put them side-by side including database profiling of all criminals in Nigeria and prisons and abroad, put them side by side, then you will know who is a saint and who is a criminal record breakers of all seasons. You can use the statistics from the land of rising criminality to predict that some people will be caught in drug tomorrow at home or abroad and also predict where those that will collect prison keys tomorrow will come from. It is so easy. So, you need to praise the woman instead of condemning her, she packs all shit of criminality from developers worldwide and had been insulted indirectly by those countries why trying to beg them again and again just to be seeing Chidi, Ndubuisi, Amaka etc times without numbers. Please, respect her; she is facing a lot from those chewing criminalities like biscuits home and abroad and their leaders don't even bother to address them. |
| Re: An Open Letter To A Bike Dabiri by SeeWahala: 9:11pm On Sep 05, 2025 |
sreamsense:Abeggi go and play inside gutter jare ![]() See your mouth like 'please respect her' hahaha 🤣😂 does she have respect for my people or herself that you want me to give her respect lol Mschew all these RoNu bandits seff 😏 |
| Re: An Open Letter To A Bike Dabiri by sreamsense: 9:21pm On Sep 05, 2025 |
SeeWahala:Yes, off course; she does. She respects your people who fail to respect themselves by keep commiting same crime over and over again round the year non-stop. There is no tribe on earth that doesn't have some element of criminalities, but when a tribe wins award in criminalities at home and abroad consecutively unopposed and without observing holiday on criminality-free day; then something is wrong. Respect is reciprocal, if she respects and fight for your release, but before she finish begging in one place for your release, you have committed same or similar crime in other five areas, sorry; it means you lost your respect for her |

SeeWahala:Why do you equate all Nigerians as being part of your bigoted tribal gasslighting of this woman? Its only you ibos that have been attacking this woman and calling for her head |
| Re: An Open Letter To A Bike Dabiri by SeeWahala: 9:51pm On Sep 05, 2025 |
DomPerignon:You with your fake Igbo profiles on nairaland and Twitter are the ones gaslighting Igbos and making it seem as if we give a 4lk 😏 RoNu e-thugs like una |

This whole evil was hatched and promoted by those who Love it. It is in the nation that Remi Tinubu, MC Oluomo, Bayo Onanuga and even Femi Fani-Kayode (who is married to an Igbo) openly insulted the Igbo race but nothing was done. Hope the government that be are mindful of this "hate speech"? Please the Igbo made Nigeria & Nigeria never made the Igbos. Lets go memory lane; -1).Lt.Louis Ugboma(Anambra-First Nigerian to be commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1948). -2).Lt.Gen.J.T.U Aguiyi Ironsi(Abia State - First Indigenous GOC of the Nigerian Army). -3).Capt.Chinyere Kalu(Imo-First Nigerian Female to qualify as a pilot). -4).Prof.Chike Obi(First Nigerian Prof.of Mathematics). -5).Dr.Nwafor Orizu(First Senate President in the histroy of Nigeria. -6).Chioma Ajunwa(Imo-First Nigerian Female athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. -7).Chief Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu(Anambra-First Nigerian millionaire) -8 ).Lt.Col.Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu(Anambra-First man to enlist into the Nigerian Army as a university graduate). -9).Prof.Kenneth Dike(First Indigenous VC of the Univ.Of Ibadan). -10).Prof.Eni Njoku(First Indigenous VC of the Univ.Of Lagos) So love or hate, you can not and never dehumanize the Igbo race. Who God blessed, no man can curse. |
| Re: An Open Letter To A Bike Dabiri by Racoon(m): 5:57am On Sep 06, 2025 |
DomPerignon:Guess you still remember the first Nigerian president to; -Have no identifiable or recordable family genealogy? -No traceable records of attended nursery or primary schools -Attended Government College Ibadan and Lagos before their formations or establishments? -Stole the childhood identity of former Governor Donald Duke of Cross and passing it as his own until he was shamelessly bursted? -Claimed to have attended University of Chicago then Chicago State University( CSU) but still have to forge a diploma he submitted to INEC? -Hired fake agbadorian bishops to legalize and illegality? -A region whose traditional ruler and pastor clergy man were jailed for COVID-19 funds theft in the US in recent times? |

To what end ??🫤 |
| Re: An Open Letter To A Bike Dabiri by Racoon(m): 6:16am On Sep 06, 2025 |
sreamsense:There is no tribe on earth that doesn't have some element of criminalities. Agreed! However, you failed to remember that; -Many of the SW sons and daughters have been indicted and convicted of drug running in Saudi Arabia during haija. -Many more have been jailed in financial fraud(419) in the USA especially hushi pushing, Illesanmi, and of course the recent case involving an Oba and Clergy man for COVID-19 fraud? -Tinubu had heroin drug running and certificate forgery case @CSU. -Dapo Abiodun was jailed for credit card fraud -Gbajiamila was also indicted of fraud in the US among many. -See what the shame, disgrace and embarrassment madam Kemi Benedoch has became in the UK because of unbridled hatred? See this evil being openly promoted to demonize an ethnic national will only end up consuming the promoter.
