Angela Rayner, UK deputy prime minister, has resigned following an investigation into her failure to pay the correct amount of stamp duty on a property purchase.

A True Brit indeed. When it comes to Integrity. British people are top of the list. They ain't perfect o but when a Brit tells you the Price of a commodity he's selling is £5 and 6 dimes, it really is. Wish it were so or could be so concerning our Nigerian leaders.

These ones no send person.

No be to come die ontop position
Is that why we are praying and fasting for their japa visas to make them even better than we are in law and order as well as government services, facilities, amenities, infrastructure and public utilities, like pipe borne water?

TheBedWench:
The one-drop rule is a social and legal principle of racial classification that was historically prominent in the United States in the 20th century. It asserted that any person with even one ancestor of black ancestry ("one drop" of black blood)[1][2] is considered black (Negro or colored in historical terms).

This concept became codified into the law of some states in the early 20th century. It was associated with the principle of "invisible blackness" that developed after the long history of racial interaction in the South, which had included the hardening of slavery as a racial caste and later segregation. It is an example of hypodescent, the automatic assignment of children of a mixed union between different socioeconomic or ethnic groups to the group with the lower status, regardless of proportion of ancestry in different groups.[3]

The one-drop rule is defunct in law in the United States and was never codified into federal law.

People like Tinubu and his complice in Wike would have resigned from office if Nigeria were to be a country that follows the rule of law.

Accountability. This is what we lack in our government in Nigeria because of the sham elections that put people in office.
Do you know why 200 million of us allow the sham elections in our local, state and federal governments, either in the legislative or executive branch?

What can we do to stop sham elections in our country?

“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate, he doesn’t hear, doesn’t speak, nor participates in the political events.

He doesn’t know the cost of life, the price of the bean, of the fish, of the flour, of the rent, of the shoes and of the medicine, all depends on political decisions. The political illiterate is so stupid that he is proud and swells his chest saying that he hates politics.

The slowpoke doesn’t know that, from his political ignorance is born the prostitute, the abandoned child, and the worst thieves of all, the bad politician, corrupted and flunky of the national and multinational companies.”

It can and it has

A minister resigned under Buhari for NYSC issues
How frequently does it happen there compared to here?

Is the difference in frequency because we are more of an integrity society than Britain and other countries we are doing japa to, unlike the ones we sold into slavery for alcohol, tobacco, mirrors, firearms, fabrics etc?

anonimi:
The often cited biography titled Madame Tinubu: Merchant and King-maker, authored by Nigerian historian Oladipo Yemitan, paints her views regarding slave trading.

On one occasion, during her final sojourn in Abeokuta, she was alleged to have sold a young boy into slavery and was accused of it. When arraigned before Ogundipe Alatise over the matter, she reportedly explained: 'I have a large house-hold and I must feed them well. I need money to do that, that's why'.

— Oladipo. Yemitan, 'Madame Tinubu: Merchant and King-maker'

Another section of Yemitan's Tinubu biography, referred to as the Amadie-Ojo Affair, captures a slave trading deal gone sour in 1853 (notably after the 1852 Treaty abolishing slavery in Lagos) wherein Tinubu tells another slave trader (Domingo Martinez) that "she would rather drown the slaves [20 in number] than sell them at a discount".

On why: There are several reasons, including ignorance, illiteracy, poverty, tribalism, corruption, fanaticism, etc.

On what to do: The only way informed people can stop this is through resistance. By coming out en masse to their polling units and ensuring their votes count. Making it known to the government that any rigging will be met with unrest and civil disobedience until rectified. Thereby infusing in the psyche of those in power that rigging is not an option.

Don't mind that fellow. You're absolutely right that she resigned under pressure. Most of them don't follow these things.

I had to go through my YouTube history to post this link of a video I watched days ago of her being pressured to resign in parliament or that the PM should sack her.

She followed the process of referring herself to the PM's independent adviser, adviser found she breached ministerial code, Rayner then resigned.
British politics is very adversarial and the opposition will find any opportunity to put pressure on Government. It's just their way. You sometimes have to fight your corner otherwise they would be resignstions every week.

Ultimately, even though Rayner was deemed to have integrity, she didn't seek the specialist tax advice as recommended and thus underpsid tax. That was just food for the opposition

What % of our population can be described as informed people?

What percentage of those who vote in local, state and federal elections for legislative and executive branch positions, would you estimate as informed?

Where will the enmasse power to disrupt rigging by politicians come from, in view of the above 2 statistics huh

If the enmasse power does not exist currently then how can we work to enlighten everyone around us and beyond to be as informed as we are?

The ranking placed Nigeria in 186th position, only after Haiti, among 187 countries of the world. Nigeria also ranked worst in Africa. Nigeria’s low voter turnout

PREMIUM TIMES had reported how Nigeria recorded a new low in voter turnout during the last general elections. With a national turnout of 29 per cent, a Premium Times analysis showed that the last election had the lowest participation rate in the country’s six decades of independence.

It further revealed that of the 93.4 million registered voters this year, 87.2 million people collected their Permanent Voters Card and the total number of actual voters on election day was only 24.9 million..The winner of the election, Bola Tinubu, had less than nine million votes, roughly 10 per cent of the total eligible voters.

Another analysis by this newspaper revealed that all the 18 candidates in Nigeria’s February elections received only 27.55 per cent of the total eligible votes.

Since we are just as civilised as Britons, or maybe even more civilised than them, how many vice president and other local, spoliticians have we forced to resign in similar or worse circumstances?

Apart from Kemi Adeosun due to NYSC forgery what other politician has resigned from office because of integrity questions?

If they all resigned routinely over integrity matters, then why are we still so backward and birthing children to export there, in addition to the resources that should make ordinary water available to all households?

PANDORA PAPERS: Buhari visited Tinubu in corruption-tainted London villa acquired by Oyetola

Governor Oyetola, a relative of Mr Tinubu, may have sabotaged his own country by buying the exotic property as Nigeria made to seize it.
ByNicholas IbekweandTaiwo-Hassan Adebayo October 7, 2021 in Headline Stories, Pandora Papers Reading Time: 8 mins read

It was a meeting of two of Nigeria’s most influential politicians in London – President Muhammadu Buhari was visiting political kingmaker and senior member of his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

In July, the presidency announced that Mr Buhari was heading to London for an education summit. The office also added that the president would also see his doctors for “medical check-up”.

Coincidentally, Mr Tinubu, who had travelled to London earlier, was also receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment in the British capital. So, a perfect setting for both men to meet was created.
