Crocodile tears, don't fall for it. I was expecting him to say, out of 30 schools, we were able to build 11 or 12 to the standard expected but we ran out of money and couldn't do others. At such stage I could understand him but blabbing about being shot at, accident and ending the story with tears is nothing to me. Hold him well. Not only the politicians are criminals, the contractors are the worst at times

Everything sound weird...Were agreements not signed? Are you the governor's runs man?? Is FG looking for means to compel the governor to decamp to APC?

So many questions....Everything will unravel soon

Ogundele Olasijibomi on been declared wanted by the EFCC

Previous Thread:
Olasijibomi Of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Declared Wanted By The EFCC
I follow Sujimoto on IG among several global business and political icons and I remember when the young man passionately stated his housing partnership with Enugu State. He came off as someone who truly loves Enugu State despite being a successful Lagos-based luxury construction guy and more.

I'm surprised that things just went south months later.

Sijibomi should have simply stuck to his niche luxury houses and apartments construction in Lagos State and other contiguous locations instead of accepting the Enugu State project which he said the Governor didn't have enough money to cover. I hope he pulls through and reconciles his differences with Enugu State. Sijibomi has always been a fighter from his teenage years and he will most definitely bounce back. Lessons learned: Do NOT take up capital intensive projects in times of economic uncertainties. Period.

Do you know how many of the buildings that have collapsed while still under construction?
Many have not even started yet he was already mobilized.... collecting money for contract and not executing it is fraud
If it is about building collapsing, then both the government and the contractor should be blamed. Is there not consulting supervisor to supervise the work of the contractor and ensure adherence to standards? Who is certifying the certificates before payments?

Again, it should not be EFCC matter. There are always provisions in contract agreements to deal with such issues. Overall, they should go to arbitration or a court of law to settle their disagreement.

And if indigenous contractors are used in other regions instead of Igbo contractors, you cry discrimination.
How many states in your region is using Igbo contractors?

I hope so too! There are many Igbo contractors that could have done a better job, and done it with passion too! The likes of Spyder that commented earlier on this thread is good at these sort of contracts, and there are many like him prepared to do the job! I suppose Mbah was looking for a ‘big name’ in the industry to avoid the exact same problems he’s now having to deal with!
But see what he was trying to avoid happening to him. What’s the essence now?

If the tables are turned and I said this, all of us here will not rest for the next 21 market days.

You know what you are doing
I’m not trying to be tribalistic. I’m just saying that there are projects that should best be handled by an indigenous contractor while you outsource others.

Imagine Katsina governor wants to build smart Mosques in every ward, who do you think will be more passionate about the project and strive to deliver it as envisioned between an Igbo Christian from Enugu and a Muslim from Katsina?

Or imagine governor Lucky of Ondo State plans to embark on Cocoa regeneration project to make Southwest what it was in the times of Awolowo as regards Cocoa production, who do you think will be more emotionally attached to such project? A plant scientist from Kano or an Ondo indigene with verifiable history of delivering similar projects?

You know what I’m talking about, not that I have issues with the guy being Yoruba.

The MD of Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) is a Yoruba man that previously worked with Channels Television, have you ever seen me express misgivings with his appointment?

The CSO to Abia governor is from Edo, have you seen me express reservations with his position?

Yimu. You cannot hide what you said or the intention behind it.

An Igbo contractor would have been passionate about the project and delivered it in the spirit of “Nkea-bu-nke-anyi”.
exactly, a non-Igbo person can't care about Igbo pupils as they hate them all is what you mean. There are building companies owned by Igbos all over the country and imagine people start saying they should be given contracts because they wont be passionate.

The first day I saw an Innosoon truck was was 2013 and then governor Fayemi bought those trucks while ignoring Lanre Shittu, did anyone cry? no

I have met the CEO of Sea Horse Lubrication, Ebuka Onunkwo and he said his products sell more outside the SE , imagine people saying only an Hausa man can be passionaye Hausa drivers and their trucks hence don't buy it.

And you are here defending your bigotry. Continue.

I don’t wish to go on a back and forth with you but I need you to understand that my point was that some projects due to their peculiarity should be best handled by someone who not only possesses the expertise but has same emotional attachment to it as whoever is awarding the project.

But if you choose to believe I was being bigotic, then I guess I can’t help you.

The Enugu State Government is wrong. How can you pay a Contractor in advance without an APG?
Re: Olasijibomi in tears, explains Fallout With Enugu Governernment (Video) by Bankowner: 8:49am On Sep 06, 2025
So Sujimoto knew from start that the contract sum awarded for the school buildings won't be enough, but he went ahead to build with substandard materials because of the promise of a 69-storey building.

He is part of Nigeria's problem. And that skyscraper, I hope the governor won't take it over as one of the properties he's entitled to at the end of his tenure.

Waste of saliva.
Where is your evidence?
Any business transaction must come with documents.
So provide your evidence and stop seeking public sympathy.
Go and present your face at EFCC's gate.
Stop making a victim off of you so that your tribal ruler will make you ambassador for EFCC.
Next time, do the needful and stop crying.

So this guy is reason why the Enugu Smart Schools in every ward has not materialized as Peter Mbah envisioned it?

This is not tribalism but I blame Mbah. There are Igbo contractors who would have delivered that project without all this kind of drama that is happening now.

An Igbo contractor would have been passionate about the project and delivered it in the spirit of “Nkea-bu-nke-anyi”.

I hope he learns from this.
You mean there are only 22 wards in Enugu state?
How come there are so many uncompleted projects in Abia? Were they all given to non-Igbo contractors?

Read between the lines.

He admitted on the video that from DAY ONE, the cost the government wanted him to build the schools at did not make sense, and the government apparently accepted this.

Which suggests even if not for inflation, he would have definitely had to cut corners to deliver.

What you people don't know is that this is standard practice for a lot of government projects and that is why a lot of them don't last or contractors abandon the projects halfway (if it even gets to halfway).

Most government officials don't go after a lot of these contractors because they've already collected their own part even before the project begins.

I was not there when he did his project (so I can't say if his own followed the exact same tune), but this is no news nor a major earth shattering discovery, everyone in their circle knows these things.
The guy was being greedy...he was thinking of the tallest building project that the governor promised him, that was why he took the project.

Sometimes I believe we get the kind of people we deserve in Nigeria.

How can a professional accept a contract to build substandard buildings as SCHOOLS, and be openly saying it, and because he is shedding tears in the video, Nigerians will start supporting him.

If the buildings collapse, just like Lekki Gardens own did, and innocent children from poor and average families now die, people will be calling out government, Tinubu is wicked, Mbah is wicked... conveniently forgetting their was a contractor who knew he could not meet standards that took the job in the first place!!

Could this grown man who is already wealthy (thanks to Nigeria being a basket case) not just say "No" and move on??

Is it every contract that we must take in this country?

Anyway, he has shed tears now so it cannot be his fault.....chai it is good to be an "Elite" in this country ooo, these kind of followers there mumu never do
Your thinking is warped
You're blaming a contractor for a state gov asking him to build substandard schools?
Who has responsibility for ensuring standard between the contractor and the heartless state gov?
Who gives out contact specifications between the gov and the contractor
Some of you can defend anything as long as it's politicians involved
I just hope your pay is worth it

Oga it is you that is struggling to think outside the box without blaming all your problems on politicians.

You heard only one side of the story and you just assumed that everything he said was 100% true without even listening to how he was indicting himself. You should be old enough to know there are always 2 sides to the story and a grown man applying theatrics is likely embellishing things

For your information he accepted a contract of over N11bn to build 22 schools. Thats N500m a school with change on top. Government gave him N5bn as mobilisation fee.

As bad as Nigeria is currently, N500m in Enugu is far more than enough to ensure standard structures. Go online and see the rubbish he was building that was collapsing and injuring people.

So between me an you, who is the one defending people who don't care about your existence and make their money of the corrupt basketcase that is Nigeria??

Some of you just talk anyhow without even the smallest verification.
Re: Olasijibomi in tears, explains Fallout With Enugu Governernment (Video) by Irony1: 1:13pm On Sep 06, 2025
Sujimoto is an eye opener

A Yoruba man went to the far east

To the capital of Igbo land

And cornered a contract of over 11 billion naira

From the state government

I hope Onanuga is listening

The contract was to build schools

Not sure the guy even lives in Enugu

The omoyigbo governor gives him the contract

And pays him 50% upfront

Now that's something.

I hope Abike Dabiri and the Ronus are listening

This guy takes the money and literally elopes

The state goes to the EFCC

He is declared wanted

Now imagine an Igbo man

Who lives in Umuahia

Jumping into lagos and cornering a contract of 11 Billion

Amd after collecting 50% upfront

He elopes

Doesn't build the schools he is supposed to build

The internet will shut down

Progressives will ask for the head and scrotum

Of the governor

All Igbos will bear the brunt of months of mockery and villification

Some lousy politicians will call for the prohibition of Igbos from all contracts and building projects in Lagos

"Because in Igbo land , a yoruba man cannot get anything ‼️"

Thank you Sujimoto. Suji Enugu

It's One Nigeria

You have changed tact.
I am not referring to Enugu's side of the story or any other extenuating circumstance
I am calling out your theory that a contractor has an obligation to ensure standards in govt approved contracts
That's warped thinking regardless of any other circumstance that may surround this particular case
As a matter of fact, the govt narrative is at odds with your initial take. The govt actually paid him well for the contract and monitored his performance which enabled them to come to a conclusion that he was defrauding the state
Your initial case which transfers responsibility for ensuring that govt contracts are done according to standards to the contractor is what I am correcting. It is wrong, false and totally irresponsible.
Government is the primary regulator of all economic activities in all countries of the world. Learn that lesson today!!

Again you choose to miss the point.

Who is the government? What is the government? Who makes up the government?

T H E P E O P L E

The government did not fall from the sky. They are not aliens, they came from the same place you and I come from and bleed like you and I.

Do I really need government to tell me I shouldn't cut corners to build a SCHOOL for little children? Do I need government to tell me that I should ensure whatever contract I get for this job, I am able to do fantastic job to ensure children are safe or even inspired by what I built?

Oyinbo politicians are not that much different from ours. A lot are selfish and if given the chance to be corrupt and get away with it, they will. However their society is far ahead of ours not because they chose outer terrestrial Aliens as leaders, but because most people take it on their own to do their own part to ensure a decent society.

When last did you hear of Oyinbo building schools that collapse. Some of us went to their schools and the structures have been standing and beautiful for more than 200 years!! To make it worse, most of their higher institutions were started by private institutions and people, from their own private pocket! Same with their religious places of worship , some older than a thousand years!

We all have our part to play if we want a society that our kids will be proud of, as human beings created by God equally, we cannot continue to call GOVERNMENT for every single thing, while others have since moved on with their life.

So back to the point of my original post, I was not absolving the government of blame as I had not heard their part before I posted it. However I saw clearly through his cynical attempts to blame someone else for his failing as a human being and succumbing to greed.

A man of his stature had no business chasing contracts that he knew he could not execute properly, especially if it was a SCHOOL and if his name meant as much to him as he pretended it did in that video.

He is the example of the typical type that rises in this country, selfish and always thinking about themselves, never thinking about what they could do to improve other people, despite knowing their success is based on Nigeria being an unfair basketcase.

Hmmmm…….

Was that video necessary? No. He should have gone to EFCC first before any video. And, he should not have cried. He even admitted to having no experience with school building project but signed the contract all the same. That explains the collapses incidence.

Logically, no sane client would give you a job of that size after telling him, “I have not done it before”. Now, it’s his word against their’s.

Having said that I so much believe you will survive the storm. Just note the lessons and apply them in the future.
