You people have building department, in which building engineers are employed, yet, still be patronising contractors for every little project. Why did you employ civil and building engineers and be paying them for 35 years? If you know, you aren't going to engage their services. Latter you would be ranting, civil servants are unproductive. |

omoredia:Stop misleading with your wrong info... ₦11b for 22 smart schools.. As a businessman and contractor. If he unfamiliar with this terrain he should have consulted before taking the contract... The cry on social media is manipulative . Go to efcc with your lawyer and defend yourself... After all when he collected the contract he didn't cry... |

You leave all the engineers and contractors in your ministry, state and went to employ the service of one that sells luxury condos and homes in Lagos to build schools for children in your state. A project he claimed he has never done before this has no experience in that field. That’s what our so called politicians do, they prefer to import foreign contractors to do jobs that local contractors will do well and at a much lower cost. |

fergie001:Nigeria. A contractor's paradise. Where a lazy government does nothing but abdicates it's responsibilities to merchants of corruption, rent seeking and round tripping. The question I would ask looking at this comedy at face value is, how did the Enugu state government discover this man and his company. Where did they meet. How come?. Answer this question and discover one of the societal problems afflicting this country. Then ask this. The government has all the money. The man is bringing not a penny to build the schools. You have capacity to supervise to see that he did not do a good job. So what in the freaking world is stoping you from building those schools YOURSELF. I don't just get it. There must be hundreds and thousands of youths, able bodied men and women that can deliver those projects by direct supervision at a fraction of that cost. There is absolutely no reason for a poor country to get involved in the waste called contracting as a government policy. No reason whatsoever. Let government operatives get off their lazy butts and go deliver those things. Mobilize the youths in those areas to go build those schools, roads, hospitals, water works, rail lines and industrial parks and create a society of value through jobs and productivity. And most of all so that the economic benefits are domiciled in the catchment area where the funds are generated. China did not start its industrial journey by delegating responsibility and contracting out it's development. But the foundation of every great industrial nation has been the people. The ability of government to mobilize mass numbers to lay the foundations of industry is the key to development. And only when everyone had been engaged does the application of the leverage of contracting as a force multiplier kicks in. That is why you observe one characteristic of great industrial, developed nations. Their work ethic. It is a lazy, wasteful venture for governments at all levels to throw their resources away via this national malaise called contracting. |

omoredia:Sujimoto has baggage. Scott Iguma has been calling him out on social media for having several of his workers complain of being owed salaries for months. Instead of addressing the issue, he's sacking those who publicly complained that they were being owed. That is evil! Nobody rejoices for his issues; the problem here is that he doesn't have a good reputation. /mediaViewer?currentTweet=1963883084459201022¤tTweetUser=IgumaScott |
| Re: Enugu Government Reacts To Sujimoto CEO's Viral Video by Agadinaagwuofe: 7:41am On Sep 06, 2025 |
omoredia:Doing business is not same with contractual agreement. Once you sign a contract you are binded to the terms and conditions. When there's a variation, it doesn't stop contract from going ahead. The contractor goes to court to declare a force majeure why he can't go ahead but even before that he should have the "capacity" to move the work to a certain percentage. Crying and coming to SM is emotionally blackmailing his client,he should be showing court documents that shows his backings. These things are not rocket science, that's why many government and international companies hate giving contract work to local companies..Have you ever seen a Chinese company CEO or foreign companies managers cry over a failed contractual agreement. Abeggi it's not about who you believe or not but about doing the right thing when you are obligated. |

How can contractor present a bond from jaiz bank and you pay the contract into zenith bank? The man who knew his guarantor was one bank but collected the money via another bank will explain. The govt who was given guarantee by one bank and knowingly paid the funds into another bank will explain. Both parties knew what they were doing. Cunny man die, cunny man bury am! |

I trust neither of them to say the full truth. Someone in either or both camps has chopped monies and from the way this is going, in a civilised society there would be a proper investigation and report. |

Onlinetutor7 post=136705737[b:I don't care how factual about his statement. Everywhere in the world there are always going to be people not happy with a rich person but the question is "did he do the right thing", was the right process followed?. My stance is from the fact when you have any reason to abdicate a contractual agreement, you don't need social media drama rather you go to court and obtain necessary requirements. What Sujimoto should be doing is releasing company statement on how he has gone to court to seek redress and not trying to blackmail his clients with tears and media war. |

Sheuns:The people of this country should wake up and press for new, revolutionary leadership that will take this country to real greatness by restoring the values of work, the ethic of creating, doing things, of true independence. Enough of this attitude of throwing money at every need. The value of this country lies in the quality of the people and we cannot move forward if we cannot get things done. The Enugu government has no business giving out its scarce resources to one individual hundreds of miles away to deliver what it deems critical infrastructure. Who does that. It is like a poor, hungry man who has just been paid for a hassle and he now sits back and orders a pizza from a franchise across town. Now begins to lament when dispatch cannot locate him because he lives in a undesignated slum. What kind of distorted life are we living in this country abeg. I was on the highway a few days ago and the state of the roads are just terrible, absolutely in shambles. And we are giving.out contracts wily nily worth trillions.... |

DesChyko:Sincerely speaking, Enugu State government messed up, they have part of the blame for their fiscal recklessness. There are factors you consider before giving out contract. I don't know who are his backers, but it shouldn't have passed BPP requirements. A contractor bidding for such contract should have "capacity" which simply means ability to shore up his own funds to push the work. If Sujimoto had capacity he would have done more than 50% of the job, get the client to re negotiate and at worse case went to court to obtain "force majeure". This just makes mockery of his corporate existence and definitely put his reputation in tatters. Becoming a big time contractor isn't "Baby I want to eat Shawarma". Enugu government didn't do their due diligence and should be blame but again let him refund part of the money and seek out of court settlement otherwise they will smoke his nyash and he will be fried... This is my unbias analysis. |
