NUPENG treating strike with same rule they want Dangote to comply. Their are lots of companies preventing their staff from joining associations. It's a simple choice to make. Dangote also has the right to decide what he wants for his business. So if he doesn't want anything to do with NUPENG they should respect it and stop threatening the country. Dangote workers are adults and knows what is good for them |

hotseat:It is important we (Nigerians) really sit down and decide what kind of society we want. The same way NURTW is forcing motorists to pay up at every bus stop regardless of membership or not. Same thing NUPENG wants here. Dangote and Dantata are private entities, and they can freely decide not to join this association called NUPENG. What’s wrong with that? NUPENG is an association, isn’t it? It is not a regulatory body for drivers in the oil and gas sector. It is just an association! |

The Union in Nigeria is more toxic than helpful in my opinion. Dangote does not want its drivers to go on strike because of some political points or party or based on the interests of politicians. We can see how they have disrupted traveling, health care, education over the years...this critical sectors are not allowed to strike in sane countries grounding the economy. Even when do strike in sane countries, work continues without putting people's lives at risk. Do I blame Dangote for this? Nope..he will pay them great salaries but you cannot decide to strike anyhow or you will be gone. He is running a private company. Can you insist all private companies in Nigeria to hire workers that will be in Unions? Nope. Islie: |

hotseat:Rubbish...... I have my company and it's my right to give you condition of employment. If you like it you sign and take up employment. If you don't want you try somewhere else and another person will take your position. Have you not noticed over the years that banks don't have unions. Where is NUBIFE? Have you ever heard of strikes in the banking sector for so many years? NUPENG is scared that they can't hold the nation to ransom anymore with what Dangote wants to do. Their leaders want to feed fat on check-off dues from Dangote drivers. Other Dangote truck drivers do they belong to unions? Dangote has fought the oil cabal and won them is it the small fly like NUPENG that he cannot? The days of threats by oil workers are coming to an end. In Lagos NUPENG members will park anyhow. If Lagos State government tow their vehicles they will go on strike. |

Hmmmm...... honestly some people are the real enemies within. The reason Nigeria is not growing as fast as it should is because some people are always plotting it's downfall and some enemies are encouraging them. Imagine the oil workers who have no stake in the Dangote refinery, who are against the existence and also hate the stiff competition the refinery is bringing up, the kind of competition that has killed the incessant landing cost narrative, threatening the only refinery that has put to rest, the consistent fuel crisis we have always experienced and some enemies from within are very happy and even supporting them! Rather than condemn this act, they're happy that crisis is about to erupt and this critical sector of the economy is about to go down so they can have a bad narrative to talk about! They will not succeed! Dangote refinery is not a government agency or parastatal, it's a private business and has a right to employ his own workers on his own terms! The drivers being employed should ensure fair negotiations and conditions of service at the point of interview before taking up the job and they should be at liberty to decide for themselves what they think is fair and good for them. Dangote is a business man in a capitalist economy. The earlier we learn to live with that, the better for all of us. It is now I'm beginning to understand some certain things in this country. We are our own enemies. If Dangote now decides to go employ foreigners to come work as truck drivers, we are the same set of people that will question his motive behind not giving our own indigenous citizens employment on our own land. |

Vision101:Must one work in a place before they know their work conditions, in this age of instant communication? Be reasonable pls. Dangote is heavy on using Indians in his companies which has both advantages and disadvantages. Advantage: Fairly good service at lower cost, profitability ; Disadvantage: Corruption, Poor staff welfare. This doesn't only apply to Dangote, but almost all Indian owned manufacturing entities |

SeeWahala:The matter is between Dangote Refinery and NUPENG , nothing concern Tinubu about this case. Dangote and Dantata have rights to run their companies in any ways they deem fit in as much as they don't breech any laws. NUPENG is a meddlesome interloper, that want to maintain their monopoly in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry by insisting, that Dangote drivers must join their Trade Union |

owagbeba:NUPENG is the equivalent of NURTW in the Oil & Gas Industry. They have enjoyed monopoly and holding Nigeria to ransome for over 40yrs and are now scared of private sector participation in the industry. This is like ASUU ,insisting that all lecturers in Private Universities join their union. |

Vision101:I remember during Obasanjo's tenure. A soldier flogged a tanker driver ,who obstructed the road at Oshodi-Apapa express Road, causing traffic grid lock. Immediately, NUPENG declared strike and held the country to ransome |

oyatz:That one concern una You people credited tilumbu for enabling Dangote get the land and build his refinery so I believe your tilumbu too can stop whatever issues that will creep up at that facility to hinder petrol supply. Or isn't he your so called 'master strategist ' again 😏 |
