The appearance of their food looks weird and beside they know how to baptize their food with essence Maggi. My friend’s neighbor in north, used to put more than 8 cubes of Maggi in 3cups of jellof rice.

I like massa, and if you know how to hack it, you can make different dishes with it.

You can make pancake massa, you can make pepper massa and with fried meat very delicious. I also like fura a lot, when it cold it is even better. I like the fruits from the north. They have date (packed with vitamins), its even exported to europe.

I like Samia juice, its sweet and sour samia is alos exported, I like zobo. There are some snacks they make, i think they use groundnut and sugar, i like that one too.

I worked with some Northern people and the day I ate their food, I almost spent the rest of that day in the restroom. These guys were busy lacing stews with tin tomatoes and Maggi. It tastes quite delicious though, but stomach upset is sure.

I guess it is because of too much Maggie in hausa foods.
The seasoning is just too much. Some even even unwrap one or more cubes of Maggie on already cooked food. Haba! I can't deal because my stomach won't forgive me 🌚
When I was based in Abuja, there was this canteen we used to eat everyday which belonged to a southern borno woman, biu lga precisely......this woman's cooking was damn sumptuous, jollof, fried rice, rice a stew, vegetable, egusi even porridge beans, all were heavenly......omoh till today I still remember her food and I am from the south.....I am the type that loves meat to be very tender and this woman does justice to it all the time.....she cooks meat perfectly than most southerners I have seen.....this was about 17 years ago and I still remember her.

Growing up in the North I didn’t really take note but I just realized that

Yoruba restaurant —> Yoruba+Igbo+Hausa Customers

Igbo restaurant —> Igbo+Yoruba+Calabar Customers

Calabar restaurant—> Yoruba+Igbo+Hausa+Calabar

Hausa restaurant—> Northerners

Just last month there was a small riot in the company I work for.
The Hausa woman that cooks in our Canteen serves only Northern food and soups.
We have 70% Northern workers and 30% Southerners.

The South boys usually prefer to leave the company and go to a restaurant far in the village just to eat lunch everyday. I have never seen them eat our food.

The company had to bring in a Calabar woman to cook for them after much protest. This woman’s food is more expensive but they don’t complain.
The word Hausa and food should never be in the same sentence if you want to be alive. THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO COOK!
I can eat Yoruba or Igbo or Calabar Food everyday for the rest of my life but I dare not try Hausa food! The Hausa cook disaster and serve their people as food!

Generally have no problem with african swallow anywhere.
be it wheat, fufu, semo or whatever with egusi soup, groundnut, vegetable, oha or whatever with fish, beef, chicken or whatever.
There are varieties in this manner of service even foreigners (british) attest to the fact that we have a LOT OF FOOD.

This takes me back over a decade ago, was contracted to do some field work in Nasarawa took us the whole day. Eventually, job done, we were farmished & needed a place to eat.. We finally got to a place the only thing there was gote.

Some opted for the stuff I didn't know a damn thing about, I just stayed put.
Lol, the view of the stuff when it came was so unsightly it was almost offensive (at least to me at the time)

At least, that is the "safest" food to eat anywhere.

A Northern governor should one day invite like 2,000 Akwa Ibom women to re-educate the whole state cooking culture. Or he can sponsor his state women to Akwa Ibom. Haba.

I have entered the Calabar’s woman canteen to eat a few times. The food is good but I love the Hausa food also.

Eba & Soup= ₦1,200. ( I have forgotten the name of the soup, please remind me cheesy)

Stew Rice with meat & fish= ₦1800

Pounded yam & Egwusi = ₦2000

I noticed that to eat southern Food you need to add a lot of Protein like Meat fish or Chicken to enjoy it but it is not the same in the North
Even you that's complaining, if you come to Calabar and eat from real Calabar restaurant, you'd hate foods from the North. Forget the so-called Calabar people cooking there. They don't come close to what you'd get if you were in Calabar.

Nigha,you just spoke my mind....

During my 4 months stay in Niger state back then in 2016,I didn't for once eat any northern meal....In fact, northerners made me to dislike Okpa, not until I tasted it when I returned back to Delta state.....

I remembered how a neighbor of ours served us fried rice and meat during their Salah,I couldn't eat the rice due to excess curry and thyme angry Even after eating the meat,I was engaged in a steady fight with toilet angry
So Weyting Dey delta wey nor Dey north? The reason we don’t eat northern food is because some southerners that just started seeing civilization less than 50yrs ago feels like they’re neater and more sophisticated than their northern counterparts very funny Kano has seen civilization for over two centuries now and Kano is still a city in Sub Saharan Africa.

Mate, if you were not Hausa and you visited a friend who then served you these foods, would you eat? Be honest with yourself
The food is fine, it doesn't look anymore or less appealing than food from any other part of the country.

However these pics are atrocious.

Infact you have said all.
This statement is true...

I remember some of the neighbors I lived with back then in my stay in the north.

We kinda became close so we often shared meals between ourselves.

I noticed that they cooked food without meat sometimes which they shared with me. I innocently and casually remarked one day that we in the south don't usually cook food without meat. It was a harmless remark as I didn't mean it to be offensive. But later I noticed they felt offended.

They later brought fried meat and remarked that usually they don't eat meat with food as they preferred to eat meat separately. That they usually eat a lot of meat and don't place much value on eating it with food.

That's when I understood my remark didn't go well with them.

As for why some people don't prefer their food from my own personal experience I think it may be because sometimes it tastes bland, sometimes sweetened like too much Maggi and then sometimes doesn't look too appealing to the eyes.

I may be wrong though as I'm not here to judge.

I also went to some nice restaurants there in the north where I had some great and unforgettable meals!
The way some Hausas cook their food, for me I don't understand. How can you serve me boiled spaghetti with powder pepper and some touches of groundnut oil on top. Who does thathuh?
I have lived close to many Hausa neighbours here in the south, to be honest, I can't eat their food, I'm sorry.
That my friend is poverty(survival) food.
Spaghetti with pepper.

Really?
It's Japanese in origin.
Ajinamoto is MSG, a type of salt, nothing more.

It's has no negative or positive health effects. Your body treats it as salt.
And similar with salt it's best not to overuse it.
