So I was chilling with my guy the other day, just gisting as usual, when out of nowhere he leaned in and said:

“Bro, abeg borrow me some small money, I go return am sharp-sharp.”

Now, me I know this my friend. If money enter his hand, to get it back is like asking NEPA to bring light during heavy rain — very rare. And I didn’t want wahala to spoil our friendship. So I just smiled and said, “Guy, I no get oh. Things dey tight.”

He gave me that look like he didn’t believe me, but he kept quiet.

As we were still talking, registering for something on my phone, all of a sudden — BEEP! — loud like siren. My OPAY app just shouted: “Payment received!”

I froze. My guy’s eyes lit up like Christmas tree.

Ah-ahn! You no get money abi? So what is this alert I’m hearing live and direct? he asked, already stretching his neck to peep my screen.

I quickly checked my settings, and guess what? The notification sound for OPAY was turned off. Completely silent. Yet, OPAY betrayed me. It went behind my back and screamed my alert out loud like town crier.

At that point, my friend didn’t even need me to explain. OPAY had already testified against me in public court.

Now tell me, my brother — can I sue OPAY for exposing my financial secrets like that? Because that beep nearly ended my friendship! 😂

Opay is not like Uber or bolt app that have specific notifications tones. The same sms text message and Facebook tone is what opay notifications use.

I don’t know why OPay keeps doing that, it constantly happens to my guy. He has even turned off the notifications yet same problem. It frustrating

I silent my phone Inside court. And the case wey carry me go Court never start. I just said I should on data and check something on Whatsapp. Oboy the next thing na Message wey loud from Opay " credit received by opay. Or Money received by opay. Omo before I could run outside, Police don seize my phone. Na 1k I latter take collect the phone.

My GTB app has a different notification for credit alert, there was a time I turned off notifications for it because of the attention it drew whenever I was in public
