Natasha Akpoti's return looms as six months suspension ends by etokhana(op): 9:44am On Sep 07, 2025
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) has completed the six-month suspension handed down by the Senate on March 6, 2025, clearing the way for her return to plenary.

The outspoken lawmaker was barred from legislative duties, entry into the National Assembly, and access to official resources after being accused of breaching Senate rules.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, however, has consistently dismissed the sanction as politically motivated, insisting it was triggered by her petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.

Her suspension sparked weeks of tension, climaxing in July when she stormed the National Assembly complex with her lawyers, brandishing a court judgment she claimed ordered her recall.

With the suspension now expired, attention has shifted to how her re-entry into the chamber will play out amid lingering friction with the Senate leadership.

Without doing the needful the court ask her to do, then her resumption will be fruitless. The court simply told her to tender apology on two national newspapers and on her Facebook page. I hate emotion when you fail to do the right thing and decide to be emotional. That is exactly what is happening to south east politically. Nobody buys that again.

Another drama looms.

Hopefully the senate wouldn't orchestrate another move to keep her away.

Lessons must have been learnt by the two sides.

Emotions and sentiments don't usually triumph at all times.

This conversation is about Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constitutionally guaranteed right to resume her duties after a politically motivated suspension. The court gave clear conditions not suggestions and interpreting justice through the lens of emotion is both lazy and disingenuous.

As for dragging the South East into this, what exactly do they have to do with a Kogi senator’s mandate? This isn't a town hall for scapegoating entire regions. The facts are simple: her six-month suspension has expired, and she's set to return. Anything outside of that is just noise and distraction. It's not that complicated unless you're trying to distract from the facts

i disagree with you. Her case in court was to resume back to senate before the expiration of the suspension date initially issued to her by the senate. Off which maybe if she had apologised as requested by the court, the senate would have considered her resumption earlier than now. I dont think there was any condition attached to her resumption by senate.

No one is trying to take her guaranteed constitutional rights away from her. But remember she earned herself another punishment which made the court to order her to tender apologies in two national dailies! That is completely outside her unruly behavior in the Senate that earned her the suspension.

So they're two different cases. When she finishes the Senate punishment, she will carry out the public apologies, failure of which the Senate might refuse to allow her resume her legislative duties, and the court, which she could have gone to seek redress has given her a task she refused to do.

I wish her the best tho but I'm sure she'll not be willing to apologize.

So all d court order was an effort in futility...
When she finally gets back to d senate her brain go calm down and she go behave herself and her online army will be left alone like fubara did.
Politics is different from activism.
If u want to become and activist stay away from politics.

She either complies with senate rules or be expelled for another six months

Of what benefits is her return? Someone just making nonsensical use of our kogi space. The senate should be for serious people not content creators
Re: Natasha Akpoti's return looms as six months suspension ends by thesicilian: 4:01pm On Sep 07, 2025
After all the social media noise Natasha still did her 6 months suspension.

After all the social media noise by Fubara and his "activists" he still completed his 6 months suspension.

After all the social media noise by obidients about defeating Tinubu in election and in court, we are now talking about 2027.

Yet some people haven't learnt their lesson that online is different from real life.

Her suspension was not politically motivated. She flouted the house rules and needs to be punished, the only issue is the length of time she was suspended..

They should have been fairer to her because she represents a constituency.

That said, we are yet to get any concrete proof of the alleged sexual harassment.

There was other condition by the Senate. One of it was that she should tender an apology to the entire Senate for the disruption and embarrassment during plenary and granting interviews with Arise TV to mock the senate leadership.
