It is actually prejudices every culture have it for others but it is usually amplified against the Northerners.

Most take this prejudices comes from a point of ignorance and stereotyping.

I like Hasus food because it is mostly Medicinal but I will stick to my own food because I understand it more.

There's nothing to argue about. There is this thing in all of us that makes us to think that whatever originates from us is better than what comes from others - From marrying my tribal person, preferring my children to others', and so on and so forth.

I like the idea of the response just to balance things out from perspectives, but the spirit of the response is rather harsh and too defensive. One would expect the response to cite examples of how other foods from the north fill the gaps of the other foods not so much liked. Or

I can bet my last card that majority of those who criticize northern foods are doing it mostly out of ignorance or programming.

Majority of them have never been to the north nor have they tested any northern foods to come to such conclusions.

There's no igbo or Yoruba or any person that has been to the north that will criticize their food.

I served in Kano and stayed there for a year. I didn't even know they had food but I disliked everything edible in the North asides suya. Although the OP compared his points with that of the South, but you can't compare. The level of poverty in the North encourages dirtiness hence the North is dirtier and less hygienic than the south. Their food can make me puke on first sight. I ate noodles, rice, yam, and spaghetti all through my stay there. They were cooked by me and I buy bread occasionally while praying very well before eating it. When it comes to food, the North have nothing and it's a fact. If they have good food why don't restaurants like Genesis, Kilimanjaro, KFC, and the likes sample some of their foods? Like they do Amala, egusi and afang?

I know this one will bring tribalism to spoil what is an obvious truth.The Nigerian factor.
The majority of Northern foods are prepared under the most unhygienic methods relative to the others.
Everything must not be tribalised.

They truth is, you can eat many roadside food at South with no issues, but if you try with northern food Sorry,!!

Medicinal? Food is meant to be enjoyed. Not to suppress your taste buds so you don't feel the taste of taking a medicine.

It's okay if you don't want to adjust or change but some of the criticisms apart from the hygiene aspect are spot on.

Nobody wan eat futa jalon food. Gastronomically incompatible with normal folks aesthetically pleasing inclinations

I haven't seen any hausa restaurant in the SW bought several food, drinks and snacks from them growing up.
I remember Tuwo and kunu.

Something that doesn't test well, not nutritional, and doesn't appeal to the eyes shouldn't be called food. If it is medicinal, then it should be packaged as medicine and sold in medical stores.

For me one reason I don't eat their food is from my experience of eating from their road side vendors and tasting this particular perfume they use in their food at ajah in Lagos. I just wasted money.

Let's do justice to this debate by answering the following questions:

1, Which region is hardest-hit by Cholera outbreak in history?

2, Which region is always plagued by highest cases of malnutrition in Nigeria?

If anyone in the north can honestly respond to the above? The debate will be put to a permanent close

I wonder why Nigerians raise issues where there is non,every culture comes with the beauty of it's own cuisine,from North to East,from South to west,everyone is blessed with wonderful food.I remember eating special Masa(rice cake)in Bauchi and Jos Plateau state,added with unforgettable suya.

The only thing I noticed is that northerners are not really into restaurant thing in the south.

If it is all about hygiene, trust me a lot of us won't even eat outside because how many people can afford to spend #5-7k on breakfast alone in an eatery?

If we humans beings can truly understand survival instinct, .... surely, you must endear to yourself, tribe, religion, gender etc

You should also acknowledge others would do the same, if you understand this, world would have be peaceful far more than we are experiencing now.


The explanation I posted above...... only 0.01 of world population reason along that way.
