I want to use this thread to explain my own take on the Genesis story. This is a rejoinder to an earlier thread still in front page. It was about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I want us to look at the story from a different perspective. The perspective of the writer. I will not introduce all that stuff that the Christian introduce. I will look at the story alone. There are different layers to every epic story. So let's jump in. What if the serpent was working for God. What if it was doing God's billing. Was it not God who made it wise? Sure he was. Maybe it was wisdom for that purpose. "Go and teach them about life" God must have told him. Like a wise old man, he agreed. Did God say you can not eat if this tree? Well I think the time has come ..eat it and your eyes will be open. You will be like God. (Which they were), you will know wrong from right. Man ate it and went from a robot stage to the human stage. Where he understood that there are two realities. Two road. One hot the other cold. One rough the other smooth. He understood an important principle of life. The principle of duality and polarity...he also knows now that with his birth, death will come. But he also knows one very important thing. He was God just having a human experience. Though God punished him for lying that he did eat from the tree and pass the blame to his wife. He was cursed. God has to make the experience hell for him. He also learnt to treasure the life. He also learnt to love and hate. May it was all God's plan. If not it won't have happened. At the end after God has dished out his punishment he sent them all out. Everything worked together onto good. |

What if? I wish you'd finish what actually is, before "what if". |

budaatum:God created the heavens and the earth. He now proceeded to create man in his image. "Let us create man in our image after our likeness"...he told mother earth. Man? What is man? She echoed. You would soon see. Give some dust, she obliged. Some sticks, some fruits for the organs and cucumber for the male member. Wao she said, That's all me....what about you? You said "us" what are you bringing? And God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and low and behold it came to life and became conscious...Man was born/made/created. Wao He is beautiful they both said. I will create a garden and put him there to nurture him. The good Lord planted a garden and put the man and his bride they had also created. Off all the fruits in this garden you shall eat, but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not for the day you do, "you shall surely die" In that Garden was a serpent. A wise old serpent. |

sonmvayina:All this after God had created so called man in his Image, both male and female created he them, and told them to rule the earth and subdue and multiply and be blessed, and it was good. Then he rested on the seventh day and afterwards created this so called man he then created from mud and put the man in a garden to tend it naked. Some of us know which of the two creations we'd rather be, I guess.

What If The Serpent Was RightWell, lets look and see, shall we. 4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And on eating it, Eve did not drop down dead, but the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. So, no death, yet, at least. 3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: 4And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: 5And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died So, basically, the God's supposed "for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die", was like at least 800 years latter, which would make the supposed poisonous fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil a very slow acting poison. And in the meantime while waiting for your surely death you give birth to Seth and Cain and Abel, and populate the entire earth. Now think. If someone tells you at say 13, that a thing called knowledge will kill you if you eat it, and you eat it anyway, and afterwards give birth to children who will populate an ordinary village in a state and you die at 93 years old, would you call that a bad deal and claim the serpent lied? But I guess you can't see it this way if you believe God and not humans like you wrote the book you are reading, because if you think it was written by humans, you'd have to ask what their intentions were. |

sonmvayina:Yeah, from all the gibberish you wrote, God actually created man and woman, blessed them to be fruitful, warn them about eating from a tree and then put a "wise serpent" to deceive them so they actually eat from the tree he warned about, so that they and millions of people never born would suffer, so he can come to earth as a human to be tortured and killed. Nice one. |

budaatum:what is my point and what is your point? |

SarcasticWords:You don't understand anything. I really don't know where to start your education from. How about I start from the meaning of the word "epic" it is a story with a message. I was trying to make people understand the story, before figuring out the message the writer was trying to pass. Of course, it is not an actual story. It is not real history. That I know you and Buda don't know. |

sonmvayina:You need to understand the story yourself first before you can make others understand the story. So here's a simple test of your understanding. On what day were humans both male and female created in God's Image? And on which day was Adam created from mud? |
