What is Bayelsa doing in the second position of poorest? This is a case of a state that depicts what Nigeria is; a country blessed with enormous resources yet full of poor people.
What is the impact of oil pollution on farming and fishing activities there, which is the peasant economy of other states huh

Kudos to the government.
They are doing a great job in taking care of the masses
Yeah right, they are doing great for themselves at the expense of the masses.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

Why Bayelsa State should be in this kind of pitiable and laughable index is questionable and curious.

This is a State of just eight (cool LGAs and the only State in Nigeria that's entirely an Ijaw nation.

The State was created from the old Rivers State to give the Ijaws a state of their own.

Guess what!

The State has been plagued with successive mindless, visionless, clueless and pure brigands of State Governors since its birth.

The irony is that the more the collective resources of the people of the State are pillaged by these rogues, the more the indigenes praise them for "a job well done'.

This goes to show that the agitation for states creation may not necessarily translate to the upliftment and progress of the people.

Bayelsa's crude oil wealth was captured by Nigeria's government which deploys the oil wealth to building modern development infrastructures in the.Northern and Sluthwedt regions of Nigeria.

Akwa Ibom State governor needs to invest more in the lives of the citizens.

It is appalling to see a state that is as rich as Akwa Ibom occupying the slot it does. Seeing some of these states at where they are is a testament that the increase in revenue that the government is bragging about has no impact on people's lives.

People are worse off than in 2015 before APC came into power. And the poverty is multi-dimensional.

If I earn the figure that I currently do in a month and I'm feeling the pressure like never before in my entire life, what of the millions in the majority who currently earn less than 20% of my salary?

Certainly I know that I earn more than 80% of the people around me, yet the money is worthless in your hand because of inflation (which I call BURN RATE). How are ordinary folks earning less than 70,000 naira survive with this kind of burn rate? The politicians in Nigeria, especially those defending the failings of APC since 2019 are truly sick in the head.

Let's all think and tell ourselves the truth......since 1999 till date, is Nigeria actually on the part of true infrastructural development and are Nigerians enjoying the gains of a growing economy?

Can we compare Nigeria with Malaysia who came here years ago to collect our palm oil seedlings?
Can we compare and compete with them in terms of infrastructural development and economy?

Poverty is relative, there is no broad qualification for poverty, those people can feed, they are housed, they can send their kids to school and can majorly take care of themselves.

Tinupoo is working.

These are the scenarios :None is good but which one fares better in relation to the population?

In 1960....15% of Nigerians were poor.
2006,during Obasanjo.....60% of Nigerians were poor.

In 2014,during Jonathan......65% Nigerians were poor.

In 2025,during Tinubu 2 and half years.....54% Nigerians are poor.

45 million population...

In 1960, around 15% of the Nigerian population was living in poverty, according to data from the Federal Office of Statistics (FOS), the predecessor to the National Bureau of Statistics. This figure represents a time when the country had recently gained independence, and while poverty levels were relatively low, they began to rise in the subsequent decades.

149.1 million population

Obasanjo tenure...

In 2006, an estimated 65.6% of the Nigerian population was living in poverty, a figure which represented approximately 67.1 million people. This represented a significant increase from previous years and coincided with the declaration of the MDGs in 2000, which aimed to alleviate poverty but saw its impact delayed.

185.9 million population.

Jonathan tenure:

In 2014, Nigeria's poverty level was reported at around 60% of the population using an international poverty line (approximately $2 per day). While this indicates a substantial portion of the population lived in poverty, specific figures varied depending on the index used, such as the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) from OPHI in 2014, which showed 43.3% multidimensionally poor, or reports from the World Bank stating it was over 60%.

237.5 million population.

Tinubu tenure...in 2 .5 years into his tenure.

According to the percentage (population wise)
Is poverty increasing or decreasing?
The North should check themselves the way they are churning out babies with nothing to show for it.

Nigeria is facing a rising poverty level in 2025, with projections by PwC and the World Bank indicating that macroeconomic pressures like rising inflation and currency depreciation will push an additional 13 million people below the national poverty line. The World Bank also noted that by 2024, over 54% of Nigerians would be living in poverty, with rural areas significantly more affected. Nigeria also holds the highest share of extremely poor people in sub-Saharan Africa, according to a recent World Bank report.

According to the stats up there,Tinubu tenure is better than Obasanjo and Jonathan periods because it is 54%...Obasanjo was 60% and Jonathan was worst with 65% of the population poor.

None is good but population especially the non productive is what is pulling Nigeria down negatively. This is why we need this reform which is very painful but needed.

The people in govt should stop their extravagant ways and not expect Nigerians to keep mum while they live large.
Stop the impunity now.

Most Ondo families are like like this. It's a thing of surprise that a state like Bayelsa with her rich mineral resources will be poor. What is Gov Diri doing with all the money they generate, from 13% derivative from oil and FAAC? Rivers and Delta too?
Nigeria as a country is rich, each state has one or more natural resources. What are political class doing with them?
Stay there and be asking questions. Continue..
As if you do not know the resources of bayelsa is oil and that fgn collects the whole money. They say states are receiving more money, but what of devaluation? A state that received 10m few years ago is better than one receiving 50m today. A salary earner that brought home 140k in 2015 is better than one earning 1m monthly 2025.
The devaluation of the naira along with removal of subsidy automatically plunged 80%of Nigerians into poverty. Abi you no know say all of us poor? You poor I poor, thanks to apc and tinubu.
Make we all poor together in fellowship naa..

Once I saw Bayelsa and Ebonyi trailing, and then Lagos and Ondo leading, I immediately knew the list was put together by Yorubas.

There is no way in hell that Yorubas are better off than Igbos in this economy.

Today, most of the beggars in Lagos streets are Yorubas and I have never ever seen an Igbo beggar in Lagos.

In the just concluded NBA conference in Enugu, even Yoruba lawyers who attended the conference confessed that they did were not ambushed at the conference by beggars. Something that will definitely happen in Lagos.

What's happening in Ebonyi? Bayelsa?

Is there a curse somewhere on you guys?
Their past and present governors are to be blamed especially, the case of Bayelsa. The governors don't care about the development of the state. They are only there to eat and grow fat, and acquire wealth for children. This present governor is just trying to develop the state. It is really heartbreaking 💔.
