Commuters along the Kubwa Expressway in the Federal Capital Territory are facing delays on Monday morning following the fall of a trailer that blocked a major portion of the road, the Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed.

Speaking to our correspondent, FCT Sector Commander, Felix Theman, explained that the incident has caused a gridlock due to the partial blockade of the expressway.

There’s currently a gridlock because there’s no free flow of traffic, as a section of the expressway has been blocked by the fallen trailer. However, our officers are fully on ground, ensuring that motorists use the available service lane and the one or two lanes that are still accessible on the express,” he said.

Theman emphasised the need for patience and discipline among road users to prevent the situation from worsening.

“It’s crucial that drivers exercise patience and cooperate with the officers on ground. Indiscipline, impatience, and lack of cooperation could compound the current traffic situation,” he added.

He also confirmed that efforts are underway to clear the obstruction, stating that the relevant towing services have been contacted.

“We’ve engaged the relevant towing company, Debasid, and their tow truck is already on its way to the scene. In no time, we hope to remove the trailer and restore normal traffic flow,” the sector commander noted.

When asked if the fallen trailer was the result of an accident, the sector commander confirmed, “Yes, it was a crash involving the trailer. One of the tyres pulled out. It fell and is currently lying across the road. Fortunately, there were no fatalities—just minor injuries.”

As of press time, the trailer had not yet been removed, and traffic remained slow in both directions.

This Kubwa Road with its road mishaps! I lost an old friend on that road on Saturday.
Drive with care and be concerned about pedestrians if you are a motorist.

Is this how useless everything have become in Nigeria? I passed that same road on my way to church yesterday morning. So our Road Safety agents couldn't make moves to remove that trailer after 24 hours, knowing the amount of cars that travel that busy road especially on a Monday morning? But if it's to block the road and extort money from motorist they are quick and alert to work. There is no way they will tell me they are unaware of the situation because they ply that road themselves everytime. Incompetence everywhere.

Most of the heavy duty vehicles on our roads are not road worth, some are more than 35 years and good for iron condemned. Lagos would have towed it since last night. We waste man hours in this country. grin angry angry angry angry

Exactly!!! Doesn't make sense at all. And so much suffering today as a result. It's 20 minutes to three o clock in the afternoon now and both sides of the road are still blocked. So what happened to the tow truck story
