ABUJA —PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has directed the armed forces to review security operations, including the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment to eliminate terrorist groups across the country.

This is as the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Borno State over the recent terrorist attack that claimed many lives in Darajamal community, Bama Local Government Area.

The Vice President according to the statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, reiterated President Tinubu’s “directive to the Armed Forces to review security operations, including the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment to eliminate terrorist groups across the country.”

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum had on Saturday visited Darajamal community to condole the families of the victims —including civilians and soldiers— killed by Boko Haram insurgents on Friday night.

In his condolence message on Monday, VP Shettima described the incident as a profound loss to both the state and the nation.

He was quoted as saying: “I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots.

“These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families.”

Shettima expressed confidence in the armed forces’ capacity to overcome the security challenges facing the state, citing President Tinubu’s approval for the acquisition of additional drones and his directive for all security agencies to intensify and review their operational strategies.

The Vice President highlighted the federal government’s consideration of establishing state police, emphasizing President Tinubu’s position that security challenges in some Nigerian states require specialized units that understand local terrain, culture, and can effectively network at the grassroots level.

He offered prayers for the bereaved families and assured both the state government and affected families of continued federal government support in addressing the security situation.

I agree with you on No 1 above. I think we needs Mercenaries not as active combatants, but to help with the technology and drone aspects.

Left to me, If I were the CinC i'd create 10 squads of Special forces, with each squad having like 30 to 40 people. These people will be sent to Isreal for intense counter terrorism training for 6months to 1 year. By the time they are done, they will be the types of special forces that can stay in the hinterland for 2months on end. The type that don't shoot except they are hitting the target. Though they will be supported with supplies (new bullets, water, medicine, weapons, food etc by chopper from the air. Each soldier will ingest micro tracking devices so that we know where they are at all times, even if captured. However, they will be cordinated by a top secret control room, so that their opeartions and location are never known to regular millitary staff, so that they are not sold out by others who are loyal to terrorists within the millitary.

each squad of 40 will have a medical officer, 2 snipers that can kill from 2km away, a mini drone operator with thermal imaging so that they can keep tabs of their surrounding area up to 5-10km away in all directions.

Then multiple squads in the same state will be supported by a fully equiped drone in the air 24/7, armed with laser guided and gps guided precsion bombs and rockets that can be called in by gound forces with an arrival time of not more than 30minutes.

Every member of a squad will have an insurance policy. Loss of life guarantees N15mln to your spouse paid N5mln per year and educaional support for kids born at the time of death till end of university education.

For permanent disability of any squad member, all medical bills are taken care off inclusive of any rehabilitation therapy. The same N15mln is paid in tranches of N5mln per year and lifelong pension.

Talk to the soldiers in the warfront directly and not their leaders. Those are the right people to expose the true reasons why insecurity looks difficult to surmount in nigeria

I am actually curious about somethings..

Under this government, most of the sectors and institutions are now independent..Should we still be blaming the presidency for some things.

The insecurity in North, starting from the Gov, to the Senators, HOR members, HOA members, kings, group leaders etc.

Please what's is their own responsibility in the killings here and there in North lately?

They can be easily identified and decimated.
But it needs advanced weaponry like drone and Air Force.
Land combat cannot be effective.
