YOU CAN’T RESUME NOW, NASS TELLS AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN

The National Assembly Management has formally rejected Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s request to the Senate for legislative duties after serving her six-month suspension over alleged misconduct.

The National Assembly management in a letter signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria stated that the six-month suspension slammed on the Kogi central senator remains in force, pending the outcome of the matter currently before the Court of Appeal.

In the letter, the National Assembly management acknowledged Akpoti-Uduaghan’s notification of her intended return to the Senate on September 4—the date she claimed marked the end of her six-month-long suspension.

However, the letter clarified that the suspension took effect from March 6, 2025, and emphasised that the matter is subjudice, and as such she cannot resume legislative duties.

According to the National Assembly, no administrative action can be taken until the Court of Appeal finally delivers a verdict.

The letter stated that the Senate would only review her suspension after the court’s final pronouncement and that she would be duly notified of the Senate’s decision on the matter as soon as it is resolved.

I do not blame the national Assembly; our Courts observe the body language of politicians before taking a stand ...

The so-called state of emergency in Rivers State is still pending in court as well. Does that mean there won’t be a resumption for Fubara?

You suspended her for six months, the six months has been served, why not allow her regain her seat?
What's stopping the court case from going on while she resumes her duties for which she was voted for?

I thought the same senate disregarded the court when she made her case.
They claimed that they are an independent arm and cannot be bullied by the judiciary.
So what has changed?
Why are they now waiting for the court before she's officially reinstated?

I am not a fan of any politicians at least for now but NASS needs to stop these

Nigerians are becoming laughing stock in the outside world due to some actions of our political office holders

It's saddening seeing how they rate us in the outside world whereas Nigerians are not as bad like they rate us

She shot herself in the leg when she took the matter to court knowing how slow our justice administration is

She rush to court to challenged her suspension instead of using in house resolution to solve the matter

She doesn't have a good lawyer or a good adviser

I think she listening to obedient advice and we all know how it will end
