CaptainFM1:No one protested when this was done in 2017. Fifa has punished Nigeria for using an ineligible player in their final World Cup qualifier against Algeria in November. The match in Constantine originally ended in a 1-1 draw but that has now been overturned and Algeria awarded a 3-0 win. The sanction does not affect Nigeria's World Cup qualification as they had already clinched a place in Russia before the Algeria tie. Abdullahi Shehu played the whole match against Algeria even though he should have been suspended for picking up yellow cards in two previous qualifiers. The defender was cautioned in the Super Eagles 1-0 win over Zambia in October that sealed Nigeria's spot in Russia, having been shown a yellow card in the first leg of their second round tie against Swaziland in November 2015. The Nigeria Football Federation has also been fined US$6,000 for the oversight |

VNIGERIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA GREET SUPER EAGLES WITH ENTHUSIASM AT AIRPORT Enthusiastic Nigerians residing in South Africa gathered at the airport to welcome the Super Eagles players upon their arrival. Overjoyed to meet their football heroes, they engaged in photo opportunities, shared greetings, and exchanged pleasantries, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the team. F0110W Julie Sports

⚽️ BAD PITCH, BIG PLAN? 🇿🇦 vs 🇳🇬- In an interview this afternoon, South Africa Coach, Hugo Broos ,don open mouth talk say, tru true , the pitch for South Africa vs Nigeria “no be the best”… but at the same time he come add say “ the pitch no too bad.” But make we reason am 👇 🇿🇦 South Africa get plenty better pitches wey dem fit use. So why dem go carry this kain field? 🤔 Is it by mistake? I doubt it. This one na clear strategy to disturb Nigeria players wey dey ball for Europe, because dem no dey used to this kain ground. To me, this no be coincidence at all. E look like mind game — slow down our boys, frustrate our style, and hope say e fit give Bafana Bafana small edge. But na here the matter dey sweet: sometimes this kind rough pitch fit even backfire on the home team. |

Nigeria Super Eagles, from history, don't like it easy, when it comes to qualifying games.. If they have never found themselves in a position, where Nigerians will begin to do permutations and combinations, coupled with the use of calculators and the "If" statements...their head no dey correct! Based on the premise above, Nigeria will beat South Africa |

The match between South Africa and Nigeria kicks off today, Tuesday 9th September 2025. Time: 5:00 PM Nigerian time (6:00 PM in South Africa) Venue: Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein It’s a crucial Group C World Cup qualifier. South Africa are currently on top with 16 points, while Nigeria are chasing with 10 points. A win is very important for the Super Eagles to stay in the qualification race. Unfortunately, Osimhen is out injured, which is a big blow, but hopefully the team can step up. Let’s see if Nigeria can get the three points and keep their World Cup hopes alive. |

Apcshit:That's not totally true, if they manage to finish second in their group with "considerable" number of points they'll have to go through another round of playoffs with second place finished from three other groups. If they're able to scale through they'll get to play one more match with a non African team to secure their qualification. NOTE The need to get more points to put them among the best four teams that finish second place in their respective groups. |

This whole situation just shows how we don't sustain anything of EXCELLENCE or even GOOD in our country ...imagine a time when we were amongst the top 6 footballing countries in the world....and today...we are hovering around 40... Imagine a country where we had some much money we didnt know what to spend it on....today, our currency has lost so much money...and today majority of Nigerians can hardly eat a good meal a day . A Country I travelled on power bike and on buses to attend sports, parties or just spend time with friends I met at high school.....that my parents hardly knew... today you all know the kidnap, ritual killings, militancy, terrorism and all sorts of crimes and vices have taken over.... So I ask Quo vardis Nigeria 🇳🇬? |

I want the Eagle to beat Bafana Bafana because of the old rivalry. Otherwise Southie people won't let us rest but on a serious note our team doesn't deserve to be at the world cup... All these set of players are not hungry for such success... They are 'big-boys'... They can't chase ball or stress themselves.... No zeal, no patriotism, no hunger |

This is a crunch match, rivalry at its peak. Even if Nigeria does not qualify for the World cup, and if there's a match we must win by every means possible, it's the match against South Africa, what's at stake is more than just football, our national pride is at stake. The Super Eagles of Nigeria are at their best when everyone has written them off, I know that we all, will be pleasantly surprised by the result of today's game, I have this strong conviction within me that Nigeria will comfortably defeat South Africa this evening. It will be a very tough match, but I know that the Nigerian team has enough talent and experience to take South Africa to the cleaners. I'm very positive about today's match and I pray that all goes in our favour. |
