Everyday drama. When will Nigeria be a better place.we need to start checking the mental level of people we call elites. If there's no evil intention, why won't he allow his workers freedom of association. It's their right. If dangote is fed up with the shenanigan of Nigeria,he should restructure his business for only international trade. |

Why are private school teachers not unionized? Was NUT resisted? Then NUT should go on strike to fight for private school teachers.. shmm It is all about conspiracy and sabotage towards Dangote refinery because it ain't business as usual again. I expect them to go to Dangote refinery to shut it down instead of blackmailing the federal government with the strike.. |

4words:Really glad to be reading some intelligent contribution on this thread that can put widespread ignorance to shame instead of the usual FG witch-hunting that is common and pervasive here NUPENG, NLC and co, depending on those leading them, are compromised blackmailers and glorified mercenaries for hire most times with cartel-like mentality. They always want in on the money and therefore make themselves amenable to be used for the vested interests of the likes of powerful Marketers, politicians etal. |

I don't understand all these things o? We have private organisations that employed more than 500 staff and without any unionism or less union activity but why so much focus on Dangote? In a country where there's high unemployment population and here's a private person trying to solve a major problem only to be burdened with unionism? Why can't the unions create jobs and those with private businesses will never allow unionism, at a point I worked with a private company where unionism activities are not allowed and clearly stated in my employment letter. The company is still doing great! Unionism should be limited to NLC and TUC before workers are employed. |

qleap2all:They simply wish to blackmail Dangote for financial gains and are on a nefarious mission centred around their stomach. The guy below got it right from page one of this thread. It is why I am a staunch and unrelenting advocate of regional autonomy. The way Nigeria is currently convened, everything and everyone is virtually an enemy of progress and impediment to to others. Most paraststals and Organisations are cesspit of greed, national sabotage and unprogressive agendas. EyeCumInPiece: |

I sincerely pray Dangote doesn't give in to these oil cabals that have contributed to bringing Nigeria to her knees today. Somebody should tell those criminals that we have a lots of big private organisations that are not part of any union in this country and heaven is not falling, so why only in the oil sector they want to cripple? Dangote should insist, anybody who want to work with him must sign an undertaking never to be part of those criminals and at worst go to neighbouring Africa country to recruit your workers. |

Helloworld123:Actually, this is not the whole truth. But I understand where you are coming from though. In this generation where executive jobs can be outsourced to 3rd parties now? A union says an employer can't fire an employee arbitrarily without cause but an employee can just stand up and find another job without cause? The union thing is just a relic of the machinery age, that is still allowed to survive in the new thinking workers (knowledge) age. I suspect something will shift this balance in the next 20yrs (max). |
| Re: NUPENG Shuts Depots As FG, Dangote Talks Drag by Omenlon: 1:24pm On Sep 09, 2025 |
Reloadedisraelp:how has these unions helped the ordinary workers or members. Thank God some big companies now have their way round all this union nonsense. Most of them just give their recruitment to 3rd party, so they don't own you anything, I employ Dangote to do similar thing, contract the job out, make I see who want to dey form unionist as a contract staff. |

Useless group of people, they dont see anything wrong with the tax on fuel , nor the extortion metted out on their tanker driver members by touts, civil defense and other groups on the road. They dont talk about the poor state of roads which has put many filling station owners out of business, they are only interested in the interest of their sponsors who dont want better service for Nigerians. |

TheBizGenius:We can make all the excuses but freedom of association is a fundamental right. And that an organization would choose to infringe on it is exactly why the unions must exist. |

IPDGP:Even the largest private organizations in the world do respect union rules, as it is a RIGHT of every individual to participate in and be a part of any lawful organization they so wish and can. Exxon Mobil, an international company with a revenue of US$349.6 billion, and total asset of US$453.5 billion have and respect ALL union rules, But small Dangote refinery, with a revenue of less than $5 billion and total asset of $27.5 billion is being hailed by some laptop boys to dis respect the right of his employees. ![]() |

Helloworld123:Actually there are people who don't want to join union. My uncle who is a lecturer at the University tried to opt out of ASUU, because in his words, "dem no get benefit" just dues and strikes.. You think if union wasn't compulsory everyone will join |
| Re: NUPENG Shuts Depots As FG, Dangote Talks Drag by Helloworld123: 3:40pm On Sep 09, 2025 |
babyfaceafrica:Truly, not everyone will join but can't you see how dishonest your uncle is to say he has not benefited anything from ASUU? ASUU and their oil and gas counterparts are the biggest beneficiary of unionism in Nigeria. Your uncle is calling a monkey a bad name to nail it. |
| Re: NUPENG Shuts Depots As FG, Dangote Talks Drag by WizardOfNG: 4:11pm On Sep 09, 2025 |
Reloadedisraelp:It is not compulsory for Dangote Refinery workers to join NUPENG or any union for that matter. NUPENG are simply acting like a blackmailing cartel. We need to be clear about the position of the law always before we speak.

GeneralOuki:As someone commented earlier, this fight has nothing to do with the masses or the federal government per se. I can liken it to a fight between bus owner/driver and the garage boys. The government is getting involved because it will be the passengers problem at the end of the day. |

Nwaikpe:That is their choice and not an example Dangote is obligated to follow. Exxon Mobil Mobil is a global and multinational conglomerate while Dangote group is a Nigerian multinational conglomerate. Let's speak honestly with each other as Nigerians and put partisanship aside. We know the reality of our nation to understand her organisations and parastatals, including even the police force, lack institutional integrity. They are all for sale to the highest bidder and ready to damage the industrious achievements of others for private gains. We Saw Ajaero, a glorified political lackey masquerading as a Labour leader, demand a ludicrous amount as minimum wage he knew was never feasible only to then settle for 70k. Although slightly diffrent, it is similar unreasonable conduct and blackmail behind high Institutions strikes, in the past, that can lead to 3 year Uni Course turning to 5 years for Nigerian student when such is not the case in most Nations of Africa. Espouse all the lofty rhetoric you want but Dangote knows his nation, and her reality, to understand NUPENG is simply seeking a way to make his Refinery operation vulnerable and thus open to blackmail. Dangote has been actively seeking to expand his source of crude oil, for refining, beyond Nigeria so he can literally replicate the Singapore model that saw the nation become prosperous refining crude for other while having no crude reserve itself. How can Dangote then grow exponentially and accordingly if bogged down by the self-serving and anti-progress shenanigans within Nigeria? We all saw what he has endured to get to the stage he is at today. Issues should not be like this if we are a people desirous of progress for our fellow men which then translate into progress for ordinary Nigerians. We need our Dangotes and BUAs etal generating multi-level and trickle-down wealth that will make many Nigerians rich by association directly or through secondary industry engagement. No one progressive would want Dangote, as a relatively new player in the oil refining industry, to be destroyed by the "pay me or I pull you down" lunacy of Nigeria that NUPENG etal, glorified blackmailer and sharks in reality, are involved in. |

TheBizGenius:Yes. This strike is aimed at the Masses in order to arm-twist dangote and the government into succumbing to the demands of Nupeng. It expose them (Nupeng)as greedy, cannibalistic anti people organisation, their disputes with dangote doesn't warrant the suspension of activities nationwide so why are they going to such length? |
| Re: NUPENG Shuts Depots As FG, Dangote Talks Drag by TheBizGenius: 4:58pm On Sep 09, 2025 |
GeneralOuki:Hmmmm. The truth is that every big player in every sector in Nigeria now knows that all you need to do to get your way is to win in the "public opinions" court. Only the very few who can think deeply, like yourself, will see the total picture as they already know most people will keep blaming dangote once there is a scarcity of fuel. The marketers first tried it with the monopoly issues, e no work. Then, they tried it with getting crude blocked, e no work. Then, the drivers to supply all around Nigeria, dangote brought his own trucks. Now, this. To be a big player in any sector of Nigeria, na big wahala. But na so the thing dey go for Nigeria be that jare. We all go dey alright las las. |
