destinychildolu:i'm not even talking about the city. Besides the city is were opportunities is, the cost of transportation to rent a house in the village will be more than that if you rent in the city I'm talking from experience.. it will even worse if you have a car with the bad road outside town to that village and fueling. Cost of maintance of the car will be penny wise pound foolish.. A pop self con apartment even if it's not in the ciry thats Outside town you can't get it less than 600k and total package will be close to 1m. I'm Not talking of the City oh. |

fineboynl:If it's 20% before, it's now 15% under Tinubu So a person earning 200k per monthwill be paying less from next year |

fineboynl:Please stop asking a chidish question. There's a difference between 20% and 15%. You should do the calculation and know how much such a worker will be saving per annum |

fineboynl:It is clear that you have zero knowledge on this subject and are here to catch clout and make noise I deliberately asked you that question to see what you know which honestly is LESS than nothing The first 800000 is. TAX FREE There is also a tax exemption on rent up to 500000 So if you earn 100000 a month = 1200000 a year Only 1200000-800000= 400000 is taxable If your rent is 30000 a month = 360000 which is less than 500000 then that 360000 is tax free Your total liability would be 1200000 -800000-360000=40000 So you only pay tax on 40000 and @ 20%= 8000 a year or 666 a month A person earning 200000 a month with the same rent would pay 200000 X12=2400000 -800000-360000=124000 X 20% = 248000 yearly or 20666. Monthly What i have learnt People who know nothing =Empty barrels Make the most noise |

OneCandleAway:It's you who wants to deceive people that they won't make it if they don't live in big cities Na lie If you can't afford to live in a big city , look for the one that you can afford and relocate there. Many people are killing themselves because they feel they can't make it outside big cities, they just be managing poverty when their lives could change for the better by simply just relocating |

Hedonisco:Personal income tax is paid to the government of the state where you live 100% Not one kobo goes to the Federal Government |

aribisala0:As an Abuja resident, one's PIT goes 100% to Tinubu, essentially speaking. But that's beside the point. Tinubu is the one pushing the so-called new tax law, and knowing him for the odiously kleptomaniacal monster that he is, God forbids that I have anything to do with this. Don't ask me how. I don talk my own. This irritating, unbearable character needs to be booted out before we can start talking about any meaningful reforms. |

Hedonisco:PIT of Abuja residents go to FCT administration. FCT is now administered like a state and the FCT IRS and not FIRS collects personal income taxes of Abuja residents. |

fineboynl:See, why not get yourself properly educated before rushing to open threads like this so that you won’t end up embarrassing yourself. Someone earning N100k monthly will earn N1.2m annually. Under the law that you’re talking about, the first 800k is not taxable. So, what will be subjected to tax and spread monthly is the 400k balance. |

Most people don’t understand it, so they aren’t bothered. For the formal sector yeah you should pay taxes. But the tax law is inherently flawed, credit alerts do not automatically mean income. A lot of Nigerians are informally employed, barely scratching by, what ever goes to put food on the table. So you gonna tax them from what exactly? 800k isn’t a lot of money anymore. You could be unemployed but still have a transaction history of 5m a year. Some people are based abroad, they send money home to their parents monthly, is that considered taxable? You’re gonna tax old people whose pension you denied from them lol? |
