Lol...pound for pound, LFP batteries are better sha.

Especially with the drop in prices of LFP batteries? And increasing ease of getting cells and coupling? Lead acid should only be used as counterweights in gym houses. 😊

Not sure you'll see any modern 1.5kw 24v inverter.

Treat them well and they might outlive your expectations.

One major thing I fancy about Lead acid batteries, compared to Lithium based batteries is how rugged they are. Even when completely dead and dried out, you fit still order the parts from abroad and refurbish them and that wouldn't take more than 1-day for every 2-batteries.

NowAdays, I tend to be unWilling to spend heavily on charge Controllers because when they spoil, chance of repair ain't always 100%

If only we can have Tubular batteries that could be safely go above 70% DOD and mayBe also faster recharge time.

and Yea, Lithium based batteries still much better; Just not as rugged as Lead acid based batteries

He is probably moving to LFP too. No excuse to stay on Lead Acid at this point for a large setup.

Sachet inverters run their fan intermittently. If you are on a budget, don't mind the absence of internal charging, ups function and MPPT then you can get one.

The only thing I miss in lead acid is the money I make from selling it as scrap at end of life

I don't miss any other thing.

Hasn't happened yet.
Just LFP packs with swollen or exploded cells due to BMS failure. That's all that have been hitting few LFP packs.
But getting to a point of can't hold charge again after many years, not really for now

With Inverter/CC charge and usage limits being set, the chances of exploded cells should be very low. Or are there other possible ways?

I'm looking at four cells of LFP at it's end of life, it's a SinoPoly 100ah cells I bought around 2018. I killed it sha as I was using it to start vehicle without BMS plus other crazy things

Planning to get one for my shop self. Omo d thing cost sha. 2kwh battery +1kwh inverter for 700k plus...

If not for the steep installation costs nd plenty materials (breakers etc), that 700k for fit tidy small proper inverter setup with a 2.5kwh Naija made lithium battery bank and a 2kwh hybrid inverter nd 400watts panel.

Wow, this is interesting. I would like to hear more about this experience.

Because I always wondered why Oraimo and many other Brands uses Lythium-polymer (Li-PO) battery type that swells up in less than a year of use. So this also happens to LifePo4 if I get you right? Is it also after or almost attaining their complete cycle count?

I relocated and then I noticed my inverter no longer could hold a charge overnight.

After some troubleshooting

This is what we found:

Whenever the power trips off, the power from the inverter seems to be coming back to the inverter to charge the inverter causing the inverter to run constantly at 50% load and the batteries to self discharge (that is without any applied load from my end) in less than 3 hours.

Even after all appliances are switched off at the db level the 50% load remains.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

Initial thoughts was someone is tapping the electricity illegally but our investigation has eliminated this as a possible reason.

Will continue troubleshooting tomorrow

Inverters such as this could easily build up heat, especially when used close to it's rating. The Fan is there to cool things down. Don't be quick to say you utilizing less than 50% of it's capacity - a lot of them are overrated same way a lot of generators are overrated hence a 3.5KVA generator might actually be just 2KVA

Another is, mayBe it's fan was configured to run continuously - check to see if there's a setting for that.

Another is, ensure said inverter is in an airy place else it would easily generate heat that would make the fan keep blowing. Also check it's vents to ensure they're not clogged.

Another is, You could try running it with just the light bulbs and see if the Fan goes off after a while; if it does go off, try increasing the loads gradually till you spot the stage where the Fan starts blowing continuously.

The rabbit hole is sure very deep.

My guy bought 250 pieces of 100AH supposedly new cells. Cells arrive and it's used cells with a new cell wrap. Supplier is saying they are not aware. Case still ongoing.

DIY is still king. Can't have it any other way.

The issue i discover about we buyers is assuming what favours us. Most cells arent grade A and they hint by including something like "<=5000 cycles" in the specs. Some are even rated less than 2000 cycles. It shows you that out of the total lifecycles, someone has used some of it thus the lesser than symbol.

Some chinkos also exploit the space created by such gaps in estimated life cycles of cells to sell not so good cells.
