This is similar to the usual excuses of failed siblings, blaming their most successful siblings that 'all the money that our parents had were used to educate Broda Yemi/ Aunty Aminat' now, he forgets us.

The real reason why other States witnessed slower growth: collapses of over 300 manufacturing companies scattered accross Nigeria between 1986-2007 and replacement, with culture of massive importation. This led to great rural-urban migration.

The mentality of some Nigerians from certain regions is holding Nigeria back. Lagos is innocent.
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by Olachase(m):

Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by PulaPower:
Mtchewwww..

Like say other states for naija no dey receive allocations..

There are some state governors that you’ll barely hear them doing anything, yet they receive monthly allocations..

As in; No projects, No attracting foreign investors etc.. To even pay salaries, they still find it hard... All they do is to sit back and wait for FG to drop the monthly allocations. Now the question is:

What exactly do they do with this monthly allocations?
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by Dannyset(m): 12:53pm On Sep 10, 2025
Cheap excuse from those who refused to take responsibility for their own backwardness.
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by Shimbo96(m): 12:54pm On Sep 10, 2025
I like VDM but I know this nah cruise... with all the Allocations in Delta, the State is still under develop. Even Delta indigene would prefer to have business in Lagos than Delta. At least Akpabio was the one the gave us STADIUM, IBOM AIR etc. just imagine if other States in that region channel their energy into something different too but they won't and the Allocations is there for them to use , even if they have to borrow too let us see the project but their citizens won't see this because Tinubu is their problem.
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by koolib(m): 12:55pm On Sep 10, 2025
He should go and ask the leaders of states like Bayelsa with massive allocations but nothing to show
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by kentokay71: 12:55pm On Sep 10, 2025

Funny enough, there are actually very few federal presence in Lagos these days.

Beyonds ports (air and water), I can't think of many other tangible economically significant federal presence in Lagos. May be someone can remind me. And as the Lekki free trade zone port, and Dangote ports have proven, if the federal government says today that it wants to withdraw from owning those ports, private investors will swoop in and build even better ports.

So the idea that the federal government is pushing too many resources into Lagos is not supported by facts.

The big driver of Lagos success is not federal government. It is the state government, private businesses, and the people. Even the state government is a clog in the wheel in many ways. The real champions are the indomitable residents of Lagos.

You can live in Lagos and not even know it is part of a country called Nigeria.

Today, Lagos is providing more to the Federal government than the other way around.

I have said it many times in many fora that the reason noisemakers are claiming Lagos to be their birthright is because of the undeserved status Lagos have been bestowed with.
Oya, close the ports in Lagos and see if Lagos nor go dry pass bonga fish.
Accommodators go wake up to discover say population of Lagos don go down.
Tribal landlords nor go fit dey select tribes, as their developer customers wey dey pay dem well well go don vamoose.
Trust me, dem accommodators neva see anything, but by the time they close down the ports, even oshodi-apapa expressway go dey look like wetin they want take do football field.

Tinubu has brought hate to Lagos and Yeriba in general, Lagos will be isolated for a long time after we voted out the drug lord from power

Edo, cross river, akwaibom, bayelsa, port Harcourt, Delta states.

Those states should all have been mini Californias with all the monies they get.

Blame the governors
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by PHIPEX(m): 12:57pm On Sep 10, 2025
The lazy ones will ask you to return to your state, after using our money to develop Lagos.

Lagos is the NEPO baby of Nigeria

For over 100 years Nigeria was ruled by people not from Lagos, now suddenly somebody representing Lagos is in charge and Lagos has now become Public Enemy no 1, make una continue!

Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by ShenTeh(m): 1:00pm On Sep 10, 2025
I get VDM's point, but he will face a lot of backlash for this, even from the government. Mark my words, this may be the beginning of the end of VDM.

Lagos' fortunes are also joined to the relative peace in the south west, which has become elusive in most other regions of the country.
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by erad(m): 1:00pm On Sep 10, 2025
This is what happens when you glorify retards and make them popular...

Why is he not tackling other state governors to create more opportunities in their states instead so they can attract more investments. This looking for someone to blame mentality pisses me off big time.
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by Hotfreezer: 1:00pm On Sep 10, 2025
VDM is from Delta State.
At a point, Shell was the largest company in Delta state.
How did Delta people treat Shell that made the company exit Delta state?

Okowa, Uduaghan ruled that state for almost 2 decades. What did they achieve?

The highest employers of labour in his Delta state are hookup, keke and POS.

What businesses are his State government attracting?

Mind you, Delta has an airport and a Seaport. What have they done with it?

It's those dull leaders Nigerians elect at the center that are selfish, not creative and innovative enough to expand and decentralize the opportunity and attention focus to Lagos state,

Other states also have a lot of potentials it's the federal government take and make good use of the advantages they poccess
