Arabk25:I don't really understand you people. The level of ignorance amongst our youth is sickening. How can any govt limit the importation of goods to Lagos alone. For the purpose of argument, Goodluck Jonathan was the president of Nigeria from the south south, and we have seaports in Warri and Port Harcourt why didn't he open those ports if indeed there was an attempt to render them ineffectual. Some of you just sit and allow others to be reasoning for you people, "crowd mentally " |

that's true vdm, my state rivers, our ports used to be bubbling and buzzing with activities, jobs were created, economy was booming, our ports served the south south, south east, aba, owerri, onitsha, etc, but today it's a shadow of itself, makes one wonder? will it take rocket science to ensure this port(s) in rivers state are reactivated and brought back to life. |

It’s such a shame that this even has to be restated to people who are purportedly educated, have a phone and access to internet. Onne Port is active and receives cargoes (maybe not in the same frequency as Apapa and Tin Can) with some of the largest container ships to ever sail Nigerian waters, berthing there. If it’s not being patronized regularly like Apapa or Tin Can, I don’t see how that’s Lagos’ fault especially when it’s not like the Ports in Lagos have lower or cheaper port fees than Onne. Funny enough, since inception, of the 27 GMs/MDs of NPA since inception, only two people of Yoruba origins have headed the place in substantive capacity; the rest are mostly northerners, few Southsoutherners or Southeasterners (I just had to state this regrettably because some people may ignorantly believe Yorubas deliberately gave Lagos Ports undue advantage over other Ports and also because NPA is the constitutionally recognized body solely responsible for giving approvals for Ports establishment, operations and management among others) Baselm: |

you have governors, instead of facing your governors you are facing Tinubu or Yoruba matters in Lagos leaving your governors to do anyhow. how will you develop? half of FAAC allocation goes to states. better face your governors. |

ricson11:What are the things concentrated in Lagos? Nigeria is exploiting Lagos. If Lagos were to be Dubai, it must have become the first economy in Africa. Nigeria is using Lagos as a Cashcow and dumping ground. The Port of Lagos, Apapa Quays have been in existence before Nigeria came into existence. You cannot force Private investors to locate their investment in places not suitable for them. Badagry Port was being sponsored by Intel Logistics and others . Lekki Deep Seaport was sponsored by Tolaram group and others. DANGOTE is planning to site a modern deep seaport in Ogun State. You cannot force him to locate his investment elsewhere. You cannot force International Shipping Lines about about their routes. |

The clout seeking activist has come again. I wonder what he smoked this time. This senseless talk reeks of joblessness and attention seeking. Why don't you go to build a sea port in Edo and Kogi. ricson11: |
| Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by grandstar(m): 2:59pm On Sep 10, 2025 |
Lagos isn't stifling development. It is encouraging it. The problem is that Nigeria isn't growing fast enough. Growth from Lagos has spilt over into Ogun state. Many factories are setting up in Ogun state because land in Lagos has become too expensive. Agbara, Otta and Lagos Ibadan expressway are axis are benefiting big time from it. From the way industries are springing up along Lagos- Ibadan expressway, it will soon enter Oyo state. Nigeria needs to grow faster for Lagos and all states to really benefit. |

ricson11:The marginalisation deal was sealed tight! If you want to know the parties to marginalization plot............just check out the origins of those who will attack VDM for speaking against this blatant act of discrimination! For context....Enugu has international terminal that has been in a state of 90% completion for more than 8 years, Meanwhile Lagos has added and completed a brand new international terminal and is going to demolish and rebuild the old terminal in Lagos in the next 18 months....can you beat that! |
| Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by Eboofa: 3:11pm On Sep 10, 2025 |
oyatz:Rubbish talk...........Lagos industries are the highest importers in Nigeria, you talk like there are no industries elsewhere! Go and complete the Enugu terminal and allow international airlines to fly into a well built enugu international terminal.........Nigeria cannot rise like this |

AfonjaPriest:Why must it be only when FG close Lagos Port other seaport can thrive ... is it not suppose to be competitive or a competition Why cant other state make their seaport a preferred alternative ... once upon a time tecno, infinix were nonsense chinco but they improvised, copied and upgrade quality today they are popular demands the existence of samsung n iphone didnt stop tecno or infinix what have other states with seaports done to push themselves as an affordable alternative. |
