VDM is from Delta State.
At a point, Shell was the largest company in Delta state.
How did Delta people treat Shell that made the company exit Delta state?

Okowa, Uduaghan ruled that state for almost 2 decades. What did they achieve?

The highest employers of labour in his Delta state are hookup, keke and POS.

What businesses are his State government attracting?

Mind you, Delta has an airport and a Seaport. What have they done with it?
Don't be too quick to respond. Very Dark Man is not from Delta State. He is from Edo State.

Oga what do you have to say about FEDERAL GOVERNMENT controlling seaport and aviation industry? How will a government limit the importation of goods to Lagos only what explanations do you have for that let's start with that first
I don't really understand you people. The level of ignorance amongst our youth is sickening. How can any govt limit the importation of goods to Lagos alone. For the purpose of argument, Goodluck Jonathan was the president of Nigeria from the south south, and we have seaports in Warri and Port Harcourt why didn't he open those ports if indeed there was an attempt to render them ineffectual. Some of you just sit and allow others to be reasoning for you people, "crowd mentally "

that's true vdm, my state rivers, our ports used to be bubbling and buzzing with activities, jobs were created, economy was booming, our ports served the south south, south east, aba, owerri, onitsha, etc, but today it's a shadow of itself, makes one wonder? will it take rocket science to ensure this port(s) in rivers state are reactivated and brought back to life.
Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by aylipple: 2:30pm On Sep 10, 2025
It’s such a shame that this even has to be restated to people who are purportedly educated, have a phone and access to internet.
Onne Port is active and receives cargoes (maybe not in the same frequency as Apapa and Tin Can) with some of the largest container ships to ever sail Nigerian waters, berthing there.
If it’s not being patronized regularly like Apapa or Tin Can, I don’t see how that’s Lagos’ fault especially when it’s not like the Ports in Lagos have lower or cheaper port fees than Onne.
Funny enough, since inception, of the 27 GMs/MDs of NPA since inception, only two people of Yoruba origins have headed the place in substantive capacity; the rest are mostly northerners, few Southsoutherners or Southeasterners (I just had to state this regrettably because some people may ignorantly believe Yorubas deliberately gave Lagos Ports undue advantage over other Ports and also because NPA is the constitutionally recognized body solely responsible for giving approvals for Ports establishment, operations and management among others)

Baselm:
There is no ship that berths at Apapa that cannot berth at Onne. Onne port is working fine and ships are berthing there. What is stopping Rivers state?

This is similar to the usual excuses of failed siblings, blaming their most successful siblings that 'all the money that our parents had were used to educate Broda Yemi/ Aunty Aminat' now, he forgets us.

The real reason why other States witnessed slower growth: collapses of over 300 manufacturing companies scattered accross Nigeria between 1986-2007 and replacement, with culture of massive importation. This led to great rural-urban migration.
Imagine if actually true that all the parents had had been used in training just a single child leaving the rest. Don't you think the rest are disadvantaged relatively?
Shouldn't they complain?
That's is actually the case here.

Are we talking about stadium here?

We are talking about businesses like oil companies, telecommunication companies, etc, having their business base in a State, providing employment for people.

You have a stadium, yet Uyo is almost like a ghost town, and your people are scattered almost everywhere in the country engaging in menial jobs.
guess what, that stadium is the only recognize stadium in Nigeria internationally and also IBOM AIR is bringing revenue to that state and useful for all irrespective of your tribe. Tell other governor's to give you your oil company too.

Look at your kinsmen supporting Gentle yahoo, Ekpa and Kanu. Those guys don't have a single business contributing to the economy of the East, but you are cheering them on while they destroy the economy of Alaigbo.

Enugu international airport is there. so what's the fuse about?

Re: Lagos Is Holding Nigeria Back — Verydarkman by casualobserver: 2:51pm On Sep 10, 2025
you have governors, instead of facing your governors you are facing Tinubu or Yoruba matters in Lagos leaving your governors to do anyhow. how will you develop?

half of FAAC allocation goes to states. better face your governors.

Social commentator Verydarkman criticized the concentration of opportunities and development in Lagos, arguing that it is stifling growth in other parts of Nigeria.

He questioned why nearly everything must be centered in Lagos while the rest of the country struggles
What are the things concentrated in Lagos? Nigeria is exploiting Lagos. If Lagos were to be Dubai, it must have become the first economy in Africa. Nigeria is using Lagos as a Cashcow and dumping ground.

The Port of Lagos, Apapa Quays have been in existence before Nigeria came into existence.

You cannot force Private investors to locate their investment in places not suitable for them.

Badagry Port was being sponsored by Intel Logistics and others .
Lekki Deep Seaport was sponsored by Tolaram group and others.

DANGOTE is planning to site a modern deep seaport in Ogun State. You cannot force him to locate his investment elsewhere.

You cannot force International Shipping Lines about about their routes.

Mtchewwww..

Like say other states for naija no dey receive allocations..

There are some state governors that you’ll barely hear them doing anything, yet they receive monthly allocations..
A vibrant city will always attract investors, thereby leading to concentration of resources and investment in that location.

I like VDM but I know this nah cruise... with all the Allocations in Delta, the State is still under develop. Even Delta indigene would prefer to have business in Lagos than Delta. At least Akpabio was the one the gave us STADIUM, IBOM AIR etc. just imagine if other States in that region channel their energy into something different too but they won't and the Allocations is there for them to use , even if they have to borrow too let us see the project but their citizens won't see this because Tinubu is their problem.
That Delta state self is the worst, a state that should be competing with Dubai is so backward and nothing to show.

The clout seeking activist has come again. I wonder what he smoked this time. This senseless talk reeks of joblessness and attention seeking.
Why don't you go to build a sea port in Edo and Kogi.

Lagos isn't stifling development. It is encouraging it.

The problem is that Nigeria isn't growing fast enough.

Growth from Lagos has spilt over into Ogun state. Many factories are setting up in Ogun state because land in Lagos has become too expensive.

Agbara, Otta and Lagos Ibadan expressway are axis are benefiting big time from it. From the way industries are springing up along Lagos- Ibadan expressway, it will soon enter Oyo state.

Nigeria needs to grow faster for Lagos and all states to really benefit.

Correct..

But all what these state Governors do is to sit back and wait for monthly allocations, after that, that’s all!

Zero productivity..

The marginalisation deal was sealed tight! If you want to know the parties to marginalization plot............just check out the origins of those who will attack VDM for speaking against this blatant act of discrimination!

For context....Enugu has international terminal that has been in a state of 90% completion for more than 8 years, Meanwhile Lagos has added and completed a brand new international terminal and is going to demolish and rebuild the old terminal in Lagos in the next 18 months....can you beat that!

Rubbish talk...........Lagos industries are the highest importers in Nigeria, you talk like there are no industries elsewhere! Go and complete the Enugu terminal and allow international airlines to fly into a well built enugu international terminal.........Nigeria cannot rise like this

I have said it many times in many fora that the reason noisemakers are claiming Lagos to be their birthright is because of the undeserved status Lagos have been bestowed with.
Oya, close the ports in Lagos and see if Lagos nor go dry pass bonga fish.
Accommodators go wake up to discover say population of Lagos don go down.
Tribal landlords nor go fit dey select tribes, as their developer customers wey dey pay dem well well go don vamoose.
Trust me, dem accommodators neva see anything, but by the time they close down the ports, even oshodi-apapa expressway go dey look like wetin they want take do football field.
Why must it be only when FG close Lagos Port other seaport can thrive ... is it not suppose to be competitive or a competition

Why cant other state make their seaport a preferred alternative ... once upon a time tecno, infinix were nonsense chinco but they improvised, copied and upgrade quality today they are popular demands
the existence of samsung n iphone didnt stop tecno or infinix

what have other states with seaports done to push themselves as an affordable alternative.
