shortgun:What you should first ask yourself is what percentage of oil staff resides are based in the headquarters office. Majority of oil workers resides in the drilling environment and just the administrative personnel that work in the headquarters and they are less than 10% of the company workforce. Go to VI and assess most of these headquarters and you see some have less than 50staff at the HQ. Maybe you should prove it is these few paye that has stopped SE from developing and point to me the law that mandated oil companies to site their HQ in Lagos. If your region is conducive the oil management would site their HQ there, simple |

shortgun:This is not true PAYE is remitted to the state where the employee works not necessarily where the headquarters is located. Are you saying all the workers in Access bank for example remit their PAYE to Lagos because the HQ is in Lagos . Nothing can be further from the truth ! You don’t have to lie to drive home your points |

shortgun:NOT TRUE Under Section 2(2) of the Personal Income Tax Act, it states: "In the case of an individual other than an itinerant worker, tax shall be payable to the tax authority of the territory in which the individual is deemed to be resident for that year." |

lawani:Very true I work in a federal institution in Lagos and recently the management asked us to do some verifications about our tax returns. Apparently, some PAYE belonging to Lagos go to other states . On my pay slip, the tax state shows Niger . So I asked the local IPISS staff in my Centre and he said it’s fraud perpetuated from the IPISS office in Abuja. Interestingly, I didn’t do the so called verification because I work with FG and not LAGS and I can’t be doing any rubbish verification for the LASG. It wasn’t my fault that Lagos’ tax was going elsewhere. They should go to Abuja and sort it with their partner in crime . PS: I remember when I was doing my IPISS enrollment, there was a place where we imputed the local government of residence . This was to enable them to know where to channel the PAYE deductions. If truly the PAYE belonging to Imo goes to Lagos, then it is on the Imo state government. They must do everything to sanction the company and correct the anomaly

WesleyPepper:The law is clear Under Section 2(2) of the Personal Income Tax Act, it states: "In the case of an individual other than an itinerant worker, tax shall be payable to the tax authority of the territory in which the individual is deemed to be resident for that year." Some people work in Lagos and pay tax in Ogun state based on residence I don't think many people work in Imo and live in Lagos Also the corporation tax goes to the Federal government regardless of where headquarters is |

WesleyPepper:Not where they work but where they reside which is usually but not always the same Lagos actually loses out to workers that come in daily from Ogun |

| Re: Video: All Oil Companies Operating In Imo Pay Taxes To Lagos State —Imo Gov. by shortgun(op): 8:53pm On Sep 10, 2025 |
WesleyPepper:Personal Income Tax is administered by State Boards . in reality companies frequently centralize payroll at HQ in lagos or designate staff contractually as Lagos-based or run payroll from Lagos. When that happens, Lagos IRS ends up receiving PAYE for those employees especially for high-paid HQ executives. That's is the practical point the governor is making |

Elusive001:Support your governor when he is doing the right thing and stop talking like those people in the bush. Did the oil companies start today to operate from Lagos? |
| Re: Video: All Oil Companies Operating In Imo Pay Taxes To Lagos State —Imo Gov. by WesleyPepper: 9:00pm On Sep 10, 2025 |
shortgun:If that is the case, then it’s an anomaly and should be rectified . Every state must get their due . Nigeria isn’t working with its current structure |

aribisala0:Lies!! Show evidence that igr of Lagos was 500m in 1999 Show evidence that companies pay for signage and posters before 1999 in Lagos |

| Re: Video: All Oil Companies Operating In Imo Pay Taxes To Lagos State —Imo Gov. by Kukutente23: 9:27pm On Sep 10, 2025 |
WesleyPepper:PAYE should be paid where the employee resides Most banks remit all their paye to Lagos for a good number of states and even the ones they remit to some other states are always underpaid |

| Re: Video: All Oil Companies Operating In Imo Pay Taxes To Lagos State —Imo Gov. by lawani(m): 9:31pm On Sep 10, 2025 |
Kukutente23:To remove ambiguity. I think PAYE should be paid to the territory of the employer and not where the worker resides |

Kukutente23:What is your evidence for this ? I can’t just take your words at face value |

pistol: shortgun:I will not say you ( @pistol ) are duller because you have shown your emptiness, is Imo not collecting 13% on crude extraction like other oil producing states? That is the basis for 13% for oil producing states to compensate oil-producing states like Imo for the negative environmental and social impacts of oil exploration and production activities in Imo state. It is not the duty of individual oil company to pay directly to the state. Federal collects all the due revenues and remits 13% to the imo state like others. What else can you charge such companies for without office structure or office address, the state is already collecting 13% , you better use our 13% very well and stop your wastage. You finish eating your "cake", but you are still looking for where you kept it. If you make your state more peaceful and ipob free, you will not need to beg those companies before they know they should reside in Imo. |
