All these nonsense shows that Ibos do not have any regards for their hosts but most alarmingly, they don't even have any respect for their own traditional titles. You can never see an Igala man declaring himself the Attah of Lagos or an Effik doing same and claiming to be the Obong because they understand the importance of their rulers back home and know not to ridicule the position by claiming such both within or outside their land. But ibos do not respect their rulers and that's why they have this thing I refer to as Autonomous Kingdom syndrome which if you have been to the SE you will see it dotted every 5km. Autonomous kingdoms are breakaway kingdoms that sprout up over kingship tussles. A section of the purported kingdom led by an usurper will rise up and carve hamlets out of their village kingdom and declare it independent and himself as the new king. This autonomous kingdom syndrome is unique to the SE especially in places like Anambra , Imo and parts of Enugu. It is unique to ibo land because they never had kings or kingdoms nor an empire to begin with just clusters of villages that went to war regularly against each other. What they refer to kings today originated from the British created Warrant District chiefs that were positions created to instil a sense of centralized leadership. After the civil war , the Gowon military govt decided to elevate them to full tractional rulers as what is seen across Nigeria to act and serve as a go between the govt and the ibo populace. Then came Nollywood with their brash and fictional movies that overemphasised on non existing ibo kings which later inspired usurpers to create their own kingdom from within another. You can see how some of them on this thread do not understand the level of desecration committed by these old clowns in trying to crown one of theirs as the Obi of Lagos because such behaviour is normal to them regarding autonomous kingdom! Syndrome and the fact that they can never appreciate how tractional tittle holders outside the SE are revered and respected by their people. This lack of cultural heritage in the SE and callousness and arrogance of not wanting to respect the traditions of others that leads to this madness. |

DomPerignon:It’s a complete disregard for others, considering they are outside of their traditional enclave. It also shows signs of instability. The guy that tried this in the UK has been identified as severely mentally ill. I his kingdom comprised of 3 people. I think they have been arrested for trespassing and are currently receiving treatment in a qualified mental institution. This is what should have happened to this guy and his co-rulers or subjects. It’s a blatant display of mental illness. |

This is pure nonsense. I expect those police officers who carried out the arrest to be held accountable . What exactly is the crime here? This Tinubu’s presidency, has reduced every arm of government to a joke. People all over the world use nicknames and aliases. I have a friend we all call Sultan, does that make him the Sultan of Sokoto? when will they the arrest of the King of Lagos, Duke of Lagos and the Mayor of Lagos? |

Can they allow Oba of Onitsha? What's really wrong with them? Same shii is going on in Ghana... Can't they just make money and go back home to become kings? Na wao! |

I thought the Igbo world Council or Ohanaze or whatever banned the abuse of the title 'Obi'? I recall they said the title is not to be adopted for frivolous reasons |

Angelfrost:Some of these can be attributed to certain history lessons some people learned while they were young. I remember reading one post here during Buhari era saying their forefather owned all lands all the way from the North to the West of Nigeria. Even the seas and rivers too. To me, that's delusional. Who knows if it's same that's making some ethnic groups claim same? Different ethnic groups should align by their boundaries and not intrude into other regions. That's where peace starts from in my personal opinion. |

Most Africans have little minds, how can a cultural content constitute a crime,no wonder Nigeria has never attained greatness. If it was in Europe or America, would it have attracted this kind of attention and reaction? Igbophobia is a reflection of disease of the mind afflicting a vast majority of Nigerians. Little contricted minds can never attain greatness or prominence but always languish in mediocrity and backwardness |

Beremx:The stupidity of an Igbo man.... Lagos state laws frown at such establishment of obi or emir (kings) from other regions in the state. They only allow the establishment of traditional leaders such as EZE ndigbos and SERKI HAUSAWA etc . They have over stepped their boundaries and they will face the wrath of the law. |

Franklyspeakin:Where does emirs exist in Lagos state? Mention one emir in Lagos state with proof. What you can see in Lagos state is seriki Hausa. Just like we have EZE ndigbos. Emir or obi is prohibited by law. Nobody is arresting them because of hatred, they are bn arrested because they broke the law. |
