Imagine! So the VIPs needs protection while the common man can die haplessly for all that the NPF cares. This is still affirming that the corruption of these elites and VIPS often got the police supporting it. |

You are out of your mind. So the VIP need more protection than the Citizens? Besides, police has no duty protecting any VIP. That job should be left for civil defence. |

You know our borders is porous and arm flow in daily but you can attach 15 mopol to a single VIP. I know a contact creator that move around with 5 mopol. Please who are they protecting or running from. |
| Re: Porous Borders, Insufficient Patrols: Police Can’t End VIP Protection – IGP by Adesina18111(m): 9:06am On Sep 12, 2025 |
Why would a sufficient patrol be?... When the government officials (politicians) are with 70% of the whole country military population... Even Soldiers that are meant to fight insurgency based on the country situation right now are employed to secure politicians and rich individuals in the country... They no longer perform their primary assignments... Even those on the highway are there to extort motorists... Mtcheww... They are not even well paid... So what's the encouragement?... Just get rich and secure your own life by all means... In anything you are doing... Just make sure you don't get killed |

| Re: Porous Borders, Insufficient Patrols: Police Can’t End VIP Protection – IGP by Nteogwuija(m): 9:07am On Sep 12, 2025 |
The VIPs should employ the services of private security firms. They have the money to afford that. You're meant to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians, not to offer side gigs and run errands for VIPs. It's shameful that the IGP would come out to say this. |

Meaning the security situation of the country is surmounting the police! There is no end in sight! Just imagine the IGP giving these kind of statements! Really embarrassing.. When a new VIP comes on board, they will provide security from their already thin force lines. Haha Nigeria is a joke with more laughable individuals at leadership positions. |

Reworked Policy Proposal for VIP Security & Public Revenue 1. VIP Security Managed by Private Firms: • Only a limited number of licensed private security companies (e.g., 5 nationwide) provide protection to high-profile individuals (governors, senators, president). • VIPs contract these firms directly, paying for their own security. 2. Efficient Use of Police Resources: • Police focus exclusively on public safety, crime prevention, and law enforcement, rather than VIP protection or personal errands. • Reduces misuse of public funds for private needs. 3. Economic Incentives: • Licensing private security firms creates new businesses and job opportunities, stimulating local economies. • VIP contracts inject revenue into the private sector, instead of funding through taxpayers. 4. Taxpayer Relief: • Citizens continue paying taxes to fund public safety directly benefiting them. • Public safety funding ensures protection against crime, reducing dependency on ransom payments or informal security solutions. 5. Regulatory Oversight: • Government issues strict licenses and compliance rules to ensure professionalism, accountability, and nationwide coverage by the private security firms. • Limited number of licenses prevents market oversaturation and maintains high service quality. This system separates public policing from VIP protection, generates revenue through private security contracts, creates jobs, and ensures that taxpayers’ money is used for public protection rather than serving private elites. |

I understand that in a country like Nigeria, some people need special protection, because of their status. i know that someone like Otedola, Dangote and other top CEO's will need protection. What I have a problem with is the police protecting drug dealers, fraudsters and all other shady characters that have money. In Nigeria, when you can afford a Hilux and a Prado, you can afford police protection, even if you are a criminal. |

So the life of one of those people is more important than the life of Nigerian masses. Nigeria is a mess. |

But they can stop VIPs from using their security to oppress people. They can also mandate such security to respond to emergency calls involving ordinary citizens. After all, non-VIPs are also human beings. |
