After Hausa, Igbo is the second most populated tribe in Nigeria. This is the singular reason those from the other side are always angry to hear people from other geopolitical zones outside Southeast identify that they are Igbos, it breaks their wicked heart to pieces. God bless Senator Ned Nwoko for championing this great cause of unifying Igbos across Nigeria, unlike the other kaikai drunkard currently serving as FCT Minister who denied his Igbo identity just because of his shortlived political ambition. Time will tell sha. Thank you Senator Ned. I have a lot of Anioma friends who proudly identify as Igbos and we embrace them and give them every favor we can anywhere in the world. I also have two Ikwerre friends but unfortunately only one identifies as Igbo while the other one claim Ikwerre is another tribe like Igbo lol, it is well my people, we Igbos are one, Igbo bu ofu just as we have one China, one Jews, one people ![]() |

anonymous1759:Igbos would come to your land and steal your culture they admire. Years after they come to tell you that you are Igbo because you are practising the same culture with them. Whereas the culture was stolen from you.. That is why in Igbo land you can hardly see a unified culture. They steal from almost all tribes around them including words. |

newmoney133:Places You'll find indigenous Igbos in Kogi state. Ibaji LGA....strongest Igbo presence Olamaboro LGA Bordering Enugu and Ebonyi....this area is also heavily Igbo in culture and language. Dekina LGA (Anyigba / Dekina area) Villages around the Nsukka–Kogi border contain small Igbo-speaking communities..communities like Aloma, Emewe, Adumu. Ankpa LGA Certain border villages towards Enugu have Igbo speaking communities recognized as indigenous....Enjema villages. Lokoja & Idah also have few urban Igbo quarters......While not Igbo-speaking in majority, both Lokoja and Idah town have indigenous Igbo quarters dating back to the 19th century, when Igbo traders, boatmen settled permanently. |

donmixc:It is not about hate or anything, it's about saying the truth. There are Igbo speaking communities and people in Kogi state. Don't you know that states were created by Military Heads of state of Nigeria after the civil war ended? Who were the Military Heads of state of Nigeria after the war ended and where did they come from? They were mostly Northerners and a Yoruba Obasanjo. After the civil war, they were still scared of Igbos rising up again to demand to leave Nigeria, so they made sure they subdued Igbos by all means possible, and one of the fastest ways was to balkanize Igbo communities and scatter them to create an identity crises so as to reduce Igbo strength economically, population wise and politically. To achieve this, they created more states, geopolitical zones and removed many Igbo speaking communities from Southeast states and placed them in: 1.) SouthSouth (Rivers, Cross River, Delta) 2.) Northcentral (Benue and Kogi) This was to make sure Igbos became minority region with the smallest landmass and zero access to sea so as to demoralize Igbos from ever making future attempts to secede from Nigeria. Imo state contested the unjust boundary adjustments by Obasanjo regime. Enugu did. Anambra fought plenty communal wars with neighboring Igala communities all because of unjust boundary adjustments. Same between Abia and Cross River. The current Chief of Naval Staff of Nigeria is from a community in Enugu that is a mix of Kogi and Igbo people. So don't take it personal, it's Igbos that ought to be crying fowl, but we have become used to it anyway and with time, nature will gradually correct the injustice even as influential Igbos from outside Southeast are beginning to call for Igbo people unification |

There’s one scoundrel who goes by the nickname Dikne ohna aka nyesom Wike who has been allover the place saying he is not Igbo. Let’s wait until Nigeria happens to him and they’ll tell him who his fathers and ancestors are. Ekwe rakalia agwa ya ebe ano wee tu ya. |

This man knows how to press the mumu button of our brothers from the East. He knows his own ambitions. I have come to understand that the Anioma and Ikwere people are smarter in federal politics than the Igbos. The Igbos are too emotional and are easily swayed by politicians. |

shortgun:He is an igbo in Delta area, not from Delta state. Delta means near sea... The Nigerian cabal named it a state. The real state names should be Anioma state, or Urhobo state or Ahaba state. |

99thEnemy:Tiv people didn't fight civil war against the whole Nigeria, so the Nigerian state didn't balkanize Tiv communities nor did they create identity crises among Tiv people using federal government might and power. You guys still don't know the level of price Igbos paid and still paying for that civil war that ended in 1970. It's not been easy, when you see an Igbo complain or brag, just look the other way cos he has been through hell under the Nigerian setting but none Igbos won't understand this cos when they are carrying the corpse of someone that is not related to you by blood, it will look like log of wood, not until someone very close to you by blood die, then you will understand how painful death is to the family of the dead ![]() |

chrisxxx: ![]() Very funny. The only reason you see minority tribes surrounding the Igbo is simply because the Igbo are not expansionist in nature. The Igbo remain the only major tribe in Nigeria that never fought wars to conquer minority tribes around them or seize their lands to expand any kingdom or empire. Igbos didn't brutally murder anyone in history to build any empire with the blood of innocent people. You can lie all you want, but the truth is staring you in the face. |

chrisxxx:Your own anger is being told you are Igbo by Igbos? So your anger is all about what was said? I dont think you guys understand that there are other tribes in Nigeria who actually waged war to take over people's lands and created empires. Thats how Bini empire, Oyo empire, Sokoto empire and Kanuri empire were all created So count your self lucky that Igbos were never interested in empires or you wouldn't even have had a choice about who you are |

shortgun:You would be correct to say there are Igbos in those areas but wrong to say they are indigenes. Igbos settled in many places probably as spill effect of the war. They are settlers, not indigenes and indigenes can decide to one day ask settlers to go back home. The efforts by the Lagos people to set the records straight comes to mind. Though they are using some nasty, extreme measures, they are right to nip the bud cos the Igbo's slow expansion is akin to what the fulanis are doing by taking Hausa lands and slowly took Kwara. Now they are venturing south. There are now youth leaders in some Southern communities and have tried to crown kings in some places like Benin just like the Igbos tried to do in Ghana that caused an uproar. Nothing wrong in having towns meetings in your area of domicile to cater for your welfare but a situation where you turn around after many years of peaceful hostship by indigenes to try and claim ownership and titles in their land will always be met with resistance. Let's respect our hosts even as we hope that host communities keep being nice to their guests |

galantjoe:I like that various ethnic groups are bonding across Nigeria. Am an advocate of having fewer states where kinsmen form states and Nigeria having say 16 states max. However in your description of Igboland/Iboland, there is no such thing as Igbo in Kogi, Benue and Edo states. Except the people of Benin or Edo are willing to part way with Igbanke, its not a land Igbo people can lay claim to. As for the Ikwere, its up to them so also is Anioma. I do feel if these people accept who they are they should be brought into the Igbo nation to form the Alaigbo state/ Region. |
