I was feted with this soup at an Asaba restaurant by my host. I struggled with handling the starch but enjoyed the meal thoroughly. ![]() |

Kajaard:Okereke was that fair "harsh" woman. Her office was in the middle of JS3 block. Okoduga was my principal for one year before he left and eventually went to Fieldcrest Omoni was head girl in my junior years. Even the owner of Interswitch was the first Senior Prefect/Head boy |

airsaylongcome:. There's no technique to cutting it....The person who prepared it probably didn't prepare it well......To make it easier to cut, people normally add salt to it... |
| Re: "The Myth Behind Owoh Soup" by airsaylongcome: 5:37pm On Sep 12, 2025 |
Sonnobax15:Technique dey. That index finger pressing it to the plate to cut it. Many people try to cut it like Eba and struggle. If dem don dey add salt to Usi, den the world don dey spoil small small be dat. I don't eat Starch but I'm a pro in turning it, forced to learn by my grandma |

airsaylongcome:Oh! How interesting. I would never have guessed. Then, it's more likely to get really thick when it gets cold. Is it a soup that you have cook and eat once without leftovers? |
| Re: "The Myth Behind Owoh Soup" by airsaylongcome: 5:48pm On Sep 12, 2025 |
tollyboy5:😂😂😂 Na the Potash....aka kenwu |
| Re: "The Myth Behind Owoh Soup" by airsaylongcome: 5:51pm On Sep 12, 2025 |
Mariangeles:Best "rushed" as e dey hot. But it can be refrigerated and warmed. There's a way they warm it to keep the thickness. And yes it gets super thick when cold. Some people use garri instead of starch in a pinch, but the 5-star generals that cook it at home in Delta use Starch. With several obstacles, particularly imekpe (shelled periwinkle), snails, dried fish...different things I would say it's somewhat similar to Ofe Owerri. |

So sorry about this but the soup looks....terrible. Can't you guys do anything about presentation. I mean African cuisine is really low on looks. One of the reasons why we are not up there with the rest of the world despite our population and travel. |

Initially, I was not fond of the soup because I did not enjoy its taste when I first tried it However, after I got married, my mother-in-law prepared the owoh soup for me during her omugwo visit, and it was exceptionally delicious. Since then, I have become an admirer of the soup. |
