Celebrity chef Hilda Baci may have thrilled thousands with her attempt at the world’s largest pot of jollof rice, but not everyone was impressed with the historic meal.

One attendee at the event held on Friday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, has gone viral after giving a rather underwhelming review of the jollof rice served from the record-breaking pot. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

200 Bags of Rice, Thousands Fed

Initially, Baci announced plans to cook with 250 bags of rice. However, during the event, the final count was reduced to 200 bags, which still produced tonnes of jollof rice that was served to attendees.

With over 20,000 people registered to attend, the atmosphere was festive as Lagosians and visitors lined up to taste the Guinness World Record attempt firsthand.

Mixed Reactions Online

While many praised Baci’s courage, hard work, and creativity, the attendee’s review sparked heated online debate. Some social media users argued that cooking on such a massive scale would naturally affect taste, while others insisted that the symbolism of the feat was far more important than the flavor.

“This is beyond just taste. It’s about making history and putting Nigerian food culture on the map,” one supporter tweeted.

Meanwhile, critics said the review highlights the challenge of balancing mass production with quality in culinary world records.

Indians have been cooking way larger quantities of rice in aluminum pits for years and they never made it a record. These ones will just see something and abuse it at every opportunity they get.

Very nonsense mentality.

I don't blame them though, I blame a country of jobless folks that will keep sucking up to them out of laziness and joblessness. There are people actually affecting lives positively but no, it's some useless acts and people we'll rather promote and give popularity.
