Bros,get informed and stop rubbishing government's efforts. The personal income tax is not within the purview of FG,the money goes to your state's coffers. Most Governors were against the Act because it will reduce their revenue.
Except you earn 50million and above as monthly salary,you will pay less than what you are paying at the moment. Isn't this a sigh of relief?
Presently, employees that earn 360,000 per annum are totally exempted from paying personal tax but the new law excempts earners of 800,000 annual salary from payment. Is this law not beneficial to what it is presently in operation? Let's always get our facts right and stop misleading people

By the way, under a new law signed this year, power supply has been decentralized so, each State can build it's own power plant and distribute, and hence achieve near-contrant power supply. Ogun State just built a power plant to boost power supply and things are looking up gradually. Same with Abia State.

With the new tax collection system, it will be more efficient and transparent for you folks in Nigeria and foreign-based Nigerians who have investments in Nigeria to pay taxes on time and reduce MULTIPLE TAXATIONS! These are NOT extra taxes or burdens being imposed on Nigerian citizens. Accountability would be taken more seriously and taxes would be used for what they are meant for. If NOT, you vote the politicians out during ever election cycle. That's the intention. Period.

The present administration is doing well in terms of reforming the way government works and its institutions. Widening the tax net toward improving the revenue base is cool ... allowing for more govt expenditures to attend to our infrastructure deficits.

My point is that the new tax imposes less tax for personal tax than the finance Act 2020 which is presently in operation. Only employees that earn 50million salary and above are obliged to pay more. So,Tinubu is not insensitive as you portrayed him regarding personal tax

Many people especially rich individuals who own companies will increase the price of goods and services just to pay up these taxes.

Importers would increase theirs.

Spare parts sellers would add theirs.

I know but these guys are crazy, they can be deducting money from any money coming into anyone bank account and call it tax.
What they supposed to do is , anyone that that didn’t pay tax intentionally, will not have his or her bank functional and not deductions automatically.

By 2026 i will cancel my cashless policy. Every transaction must be cash. I don't collect transfer again.
Nigerians get nothing in return from our government. We are not citizens but slavesvto our government.

Do you know the fraction of taxes proceed to the fraction of allocation government is using to develop their countries?
Taxes proceed is for maintenance of road, electricity, water, etc. Not to construct it.
You can’t use money from taxes construct high way, railway line, etc.

Can you believe I went to FIRS website to obtain my id and the website refuses to do what it was designed to do?

This is not the first time Nigerian government website has been proving useless. Especially CAC website, yet they will be shouting file your returns like they are doing their jobs themselves.

⭕️Foreign-based Nigerians can obtain a Tax ID using their NIN for banking or investment purposes in Nigeria. Check the NIMC website.

⭕️Foreign companies and non-resident entities providing services to Nigerian customers need a Tax ID. However, those on passive incomes like dividends, royalties, rent may not need to register but must provide relevant information.

⭕️Govt Agencies are not exempted from taxes - all must register for tax and obtain their Tax ID.

⭕️A taxable person without a Tax ID may not be able to operate bank accounts, insurance policies, pension accounts, or investment accounts by 01 Jan 2026.

⭕️There are other sanctions also applicable to taxable persons without Tax ID.

⭕️This process will simplify identification, reduce duplication, and close loopholes that allow tax evasion.

Explain really how low income earners are protected from the effects of this tax law? Do you think if you increase the tax burden on the rich that they will not pass on the lost costs to the low income earners and the poor?
One thing this government fails to understand is that in times of low revenue in a country, you cannot tax people to prosperity. It rather achieves the opposite. Ronald Reagan and Margaret thatcher stated this clearly if you want economic boom, reduce taxation to increase savings and disposable income, so that people will spend and when spending increases, it impacts on the economy.

They wont tax your savings retrospectively... what they can tax is the interest you receive on the savings. So the tax is not on your account balance but on the total of all inflow into your account starting from 2026. (Minus any direct cost incurred in making that income).

Your accountant should be your best friend from 2026
