How does the ear self clean itself despite using cotton boards and it will still bring out obvious diets that are clearly visible on the cotton boards

Dirt's I meant

My cotton bud is finished. I last used it last week.
Whenever I have it I used almost twice daily, usually after taking my bath.

An interesting observation! It's noteworthy that Nairaland's rule 22 advises against requesting contact details (email, phone, or BBM pin) or soliciting investments. It's surprising that BBM pin is still being mentioned in the Nairaland rules in 2025, considering the evolution of technology and communication platforms. Perhaps Seun should consider updating the rules to reflect current trends in digital communication. One may wonder if Blackberry even exists anymore. My apologies for straying from the main topic. 🙏

I think those Docs that say the ear self cleans are full of sheet.

There are professionals whose job is to clean ears and I have never seen any of them complain of any issue. Some use these services regularly.

Once every week, can do more if my ear itches me.

Funny enough, I'm not sure I've ever heard an ENT doctor complain of over-cleaning the ears. Matter of fact, I've taken a child to the hospital in Abuja when his ears were troubling him while preparing for school exams, the ENT doctor "washed" his ears, you need to see the quantity of wax/dirt that came out. He felt better afterwards and could write his exam well.

However don’t Clean with cotton bud. You might damage your hearing.

Since 10yrs ago, never have i insert anything in order to clean my ear, if i can still remember well

Those things are not for sticking into the ear. I have no idea who cooked up the idea. What I do is I break the sharp end off one side of a toothpick and use the sides to scrub off excess wax. It feels good, is safe with caution and works.

This cotton bud issue is confusing, I used to use it but I've stopped due to different articles I read about the danger of cotton bud and also the ability of the ear to self-clean.
One day, I woke up with a blocked ear due to excess wax in my ear. I had no choice but to use cotton wool and match stick because I was almost going deaf.

My question is how often does the ear self-clean?

It self clean every time..

Whenever you're bathing, point out a finger, chook the pointed finger into your sponge, then slightly use the finger to rinse the ear corridors... After that, rinse with water slightly too..

Whenever I do this, after like 3 hours, I usually sense this liquid dropping outer my ears. You can try it..

From my personal experience, I think for the ear to self clean, it needs some little drops of water - the water is what will flush out the dirtiness..

My doctor said I shouldn't

So I do go for regularly washing

I learnt that pouring methylated spirit into tye ear sometimes cleans it

I wish to be well enlightened about that

I believe you are just having an itchy ear and I don't it warrants plugging cotton bud into your ear daily.

Great Health tips... I. Nigeria Many of us cannot do without the use of the cotton bud for our ear cleaning. May God help us to be careful all the time we use it I. Because that too is a prayer point.

I always have a pack in all my bags, satchel, wardrobe, office desk.

If you use headphones a lot then it would be hard to go with cleaning ears.

Every morning after bathing and every night after bathing, I no know how water dey find way enter the ear all the time

Nigeria Doctors said is not advisable to put anything inside the ear that is self cleaning. When I day village, we use caved iron by blacksmith to remove dirty from the ear. In my local dialect, we call it IKOTI

Actually, you are not supposed to clean the inside of ur ear. It is self cleansing.

Just clean the outer ear lobe and you are good to go.

There are exceptions though. When you have an object blocking the ear drum or canal, you go to hospital for proper medical attention.

Do not engage in self medication or unprofessionals attending to you
