tunjijones:Just to indulge you, I decided to have grok A.I help out. This is the latest figures showing that Enugu has overtaken Oyo in IGR. Continue to play the tribalism card and latch on to Lagos while other States overtake you. P.S: If you have a contrary source that is more up-to-date, post it here.

@Reno, it’s not just about ports, but you can put this to the test. Request the FG to close Lagos port for 6 months redirecting cargo, MMIA for 6 months redirecting flights to regional airports, mandate all embassies(which were only situated in Lagos for a longtime) to have regional offices, mandate all banks to have regional headquarters, create law schools in every state. Basically make an equitable spread of all national institutions and then let’s talk about IGR. Truth is that’s not feasible or profitable, so why I stated the above is to show you the fault in your thought process, there would always be bigger cities, China has about 6 big cities and it is for all. It is only commonsensical that any conglomerate would situate its company in Ogun state or Oyo state due to its proximity to the biggest port/International airport for cargo purposes. So I find this argument baseless. Dangote chose to situate his refinery/factories in a state that has assess to water for his cargo and not because of leadership. British tobacco is in Oyo, all the factories at agbara Ogun state, same reason. It’s a shame that in 2025, we are still having this discussion about tribal ownership to a state that all Nigerians should be working together to develop. At what point in our existence are we supposed to align with our national identity and not tribal identity.

Baxilexi:Thank you for the offer. We don't need all Nigeria to work together to develop one state. Go to your own state and develop it. Nigeria is a federation with different spaces, politics, people and culture. We do us, you do you. What is hard in that? Go and tell the Scotts to lose their identity for the English or Welsh because tribal ownership in 2025 is bad. Very disingenuous people everywhere. |

Baxilexi:Anambra can do better all these excuses are a waste Specifically the number one source of VAT in Oyo is Agriculture Next Manufacturing Next ICT STOP excuses Abia state to be precise has comparative advantage in cashew production. The south east has advantages in cocoa too. Where is the output Is it not a shame that poultries in the SE still go to Oyo state to buy day old chick's for their poultry business |

Oyo state is very large. It has numerous farm settlements and an industrial base and etc. It has the most hotels after Lagos. However Onitsha, Owerri, Enugu Aba are now bigger than any SW city apart from Ibadan and Lagos going by the number of bank branches |

Ttalk:You did not bold anything. However you can get the number of hotels bank branches and etc of any major city online. You can even get the names of those institutions and etc. Of all capitals in the west apart from Ibadan Akure has the most bank branches at 107. Onitsha has 137 and Aba has 146. |

Abdul05:Apart from Lagos, mention one economic transformation project carried out by governors of SW? Bro after SS politicians, SW are the worst followed by the SE. OK explain how Oyo state has one of the largest revenue in the country, yet half its population (50%) are in multidimensional poverty. Don't hood brief for these politicians they are doing nothing. Lagos is what it is today because of colonial, FG and the good residents of the states that pay taxes and develope their locality.

Ttalk:Bro half the population in oyo state is living in multidimensional poverty. There's no winner here. The politicians are collectively & deliberately making their people poor. In Nepal they also have various tribes yet they bonded and got rid of their corrupt govt. Thers no best in a bad situation

Spandau:Put your money where your mouth is, tell the Lagos state government to evict all non-indigenes without exception and pay expropriation cost. Jim Ovia, Dangote, all the ibo traders in Lagos, Orange pharmaceutical, Fidson, Emzor, Coscharis, Billionaire property owners, Nest oil and its likes, and so on. You missed the point. Reno spoke about leadership being the reason Lagos has a high IGR alluding this success to it and I pointed out that Lagos is Nigeria’s London, Tokyo, New York. It is only normal it leads in terms of IGR. And it’s a collective effort. But since you wish other regions equal success, kindly facilitate it by writing to the state government and get the ball rolling on kick out all non-indigenes. Footnote, I’m way passed defining myself by a piece of land or tribal ancestry, I acknowledge it but I am a tapestry of diversity. I’m a citizen of the world and I pitch my tent where I’m loved, accepted and valued. Nigeria is yours friend, do with it as you please. Piece of advice, “don’t put new wine in old skins” - Jesus. |

aribisala0:Yes it’s a shame but there’s a reason why the poultry company is in Oyo. Hypothetical scenario You’re an investor, and want to set up an oil palm farm for local sales and exports. Oyo and Abia has the same climate and topographical conditions. Cost of set up is the same. Then you begin to consider other factors, transportation, markets, expertise, manpower, purchasing power of the locals and neighboring communities etc. Where would you rather invest? For now, Nigeria lacks the fundamental infrastructure that makes the cost of doing business cheap. Commerce in European countries are so fluid that one can own a factory in one side of the country and sell in another incurring negligible cost on transportation. 2 Personal examples, First one, years back I tried out export business, went to Bida in Niger state, got my produce and was slammed with a hefty transportation fee to Lagos. Which took more than a day as I remember. The reason was that armed robbers had ownership of a shorter route. When it arrived Lagos, pickup and delivery from the park was another issue, but I had a good guy, who sorted it out, long and short of it by the time the produce got to the buyer it had absorbed moisture due to lack of adequate storage. Solution: if a commercial railway existed I would have sent it directly to the buyer in Lagos and he would’ve exported it instantly all within 24 hours. Second, in agbara, a rival company to the Coca Cola brand opened factory there, bad roads, local government extortion made cost of doing business high. They outsourced their deliverables, yet bad roads were the biggest challenge and note, this was just agbara to Ikeja and other districts in Lagos, now imagine if they had a company in Abia, delivering to Lagos? So to the topic, Nigeria currently lacks the infrastructure to help make business fluid across the country. Commercial railways are very vital just imagine being able to order killishi from a market in Zazzau to Lagos and it gets to you in 4 hours. |
