The Nigerian national and Ivory Coast native were arrested on September 10 during a raid at a residence in Chattarpur, South Delhi, based on a tip-off, the Delhi Police said.

The police have identified the accused as Benjamin Izuchukwu, 43, a Nigerian national, and Coulibaly Mariam, 29, of Ivory Coast. The arrests were made on September 10 during a raid at a residence in Chattarpur, South Delhi, based on a tip-off about their involvement in cocaine distribution.

The police subsequently conducted the raid and seized the contraband along with an electronic weighing machine and packaging materials. A case has been registered at Mehrauli police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act.

“During interrogation, accused Izuchukwu disclosed that he came in contact with another person from the African continent residing in Dwarka in 2021. He used to procure cocaine from one Joseph at Rs 8,000 per gram and sell it in Chattarpur and surrounding areas at Rs 10,000 per gram with the help of his associate, Coulibaly Mariam. Izuchukwu revealed that he had recently purchased 600 grams of cocaine, out of which approximately 250 grams had already been sold. The remaining 355 grams were seized during the raid,” said Ankit Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South.

Investigators said the accused used WhatsApp to take orders and routed payments through UPI to small retail shops, from where Izuchukwu would collect cash to disguise the money trail while Mariam delivered the drugs to their clients.
