The landmark event took place on September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, attracting thousands of fans, food lovers, and supporters. In a new TikTok video shared via her handle @hildabacion, Hilda detailed the enormous quantities of rice, oil, and spices that went into the monumental pot.
Ingredient Breakdown for the Record Pot

According to Hilda Baci, the Guinness World Record attempt included:

4,000 kg of washed basmati rice

612 kg of oil

800 kg of Gino Asun peppered chicken + party jollof

600 kg of her signature jollof pepper mix

220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes

20 g of Gino curry and 7 g of Gino thyme

300 kg onion, garlic & ginger blend

164 kg of fresh goat meat

1,200 kg of gas

The chef revealed that it took 9 hours of fire, passion, and teamwork to prepare the massive dish, which served over 16,600 plates of jollof rice.

Preparations and Execution

While Hilda initially planned to host the attempt at Muri Okunola Park, she later shifted the venue to Eko Hotel and Suites for logistical reasons. Weeks ahead of the event, she and her team conducted a trial run to perfect the process.

On the morning of the cookout, the giant pot was delivered to the venue by 4 am, marking the start of a long but historic day.

More Than Just Food

For Hilda Baci, the record-breaking jollof pot went beyond cooking. She described the feat as a celebration of resilience, teamwork, and Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage.

Her words:

The event has since been hailed as a moment of national pride, further cementing Nigeria’s place on the global culinary map.

What I am more interested in his the technology that was used to set up the cooking...was it lpg,coal or firewood.......was the cooking pot and all the tools used made in Nigeria,how many cooks did the cooking,they need to be acknowledged as well.
