Kaduna Workers Yet To Receive ₦72,000 Minimum Wage Despite Claims By Governor Sani's Administration September 15, 2025 News Documents obtained by NGIJ, including pay slips and bank alerts, revealed significant discrepancies. The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) has expressed concerns over the Kaduna State government’s claim that it has commenced payment of the ₦72,000 minimum wage. Despite assurances from state officials, teachers across Kaduna insist they are still receiving salaries based on the old wage structure. Documents obtained by NGIJ, including pay slips and bank alerts, revealed significant discrepancies. In the Lere local government area, a level-7 teacher under Kaduna SUBEB presented evidence of receiving just ₦37,436 as August 2025 salary, paid on September 3. Similarly, in Zaria, another teacher confirmed his August wage stood at ₦42,000. NGIJ explained that reports from several of the state’s 23 local government areas point to a persistent ₦30,000 minimum wage regime, contradicting official pronouncements. Meanwhile, the evidence stands in sharp contrast to claims by Kaduna NLC chairman, Ayuba Suleiman, who had earlier stated that Governor Uba Sani had approved and commenced implementation of the ₦72,000 wage for workers on levels 1–7. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, had earlier reinforced this stance during NGIJ’s visit to his office. However, NGIJ’s investigation revealed that the discrepancies were not limited to basic education teachers. Lecturers at Nuhu Bamili Polytechnic, Zaria, also reported earning salaries below the government’s stated minimum wage threshold. One lecturer, who preferred anonymity, disclosed that he received ₦64,800 as his August 2025 salary. He lamented the absence of the newly announced ₦72,000 minimum wage in his earnings, saying: “There is no reflection of the ₦72,000 minimum wage in our pay. What the government is saying is different from what we are seeing in our bank accounts.” These findings raise pressing concerns about transparency, accountability, and the credibility of the state’s wage administration. While government officials insist that implementation is ongoing, evidence collected by NGIJ during its governance assessment suggests a troublingly different reality. In a preliminary statement, NGIJ President, Abdulrahman Aliagan, noted that the guild was still gathering facts and engaging key stakeholders to ensure a balanced and comprehensive evaluation https://saharareporters.com/2025/09/15/kaduna-workers-yet-receive-n72000-minimum-wage-despite-claims-governor-sanis?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Governor Amuneke. I don't know how Uba Sani thinks he can govern Kaduna using PR bots and databoys on social media The reality on ground is a far-cry from what he tries to portray online. From the fraudulent "groundbreaking" on roads that get abandoned to the commissioning of incomplete projects like the 300-bed hospital, man is living in his own crafted delusion. |

AMINDA:Honestly! This Governor is a monumental fraud!! On social media he is portrayed as the best thing after sliced bread but when you look beyond the surface, his government is rotten and wicked. No minimum in Kaduna and yet he's all over the news saying he has implemented it. He pays lecturers in Kaduna N64,800 o... As in N64,800. My God!!! ![]() |

bennyflipy:The kaduna state government has refused to implement the appropriate salary structure for lecturers in the state owned tertiary institutions for 15years now. That's why lecturers still earn N64,800 as salary in this Nigeria of today. Governor Uba Sani is really disgracing his people! |

If you Investigate well. You will discover that most states are not Paying 70k minimum wage. Those paying are not adjusting wages for other levels. Others are culling back the wage increases in form of higher tax, while some will deduct pension without remittance. Nigeria leaders are heartless bunch |

nedu666:And even the media organizations are in the mix too because these news should be everywhere but it's not. Workers are suffering and nobody is helping. If the media doesn't shame these defaulting states, they'll never implement it because they believe all is well as long as nobody knows |

Wonder shall never end 64k for lecturers at Tartiary level. Then, how much is the Salary of Teachers at Secondary and primary level. Recently, I overheard a Primary school Teacher In Kaduna complaining that their MONTHLY TAKE HOME is still the old minimum wage of 30k. That, many of their colleagues are dying. That the Kaduna State government has done verification more than 5 times, yet no implementation. Alot of regression has happened to Nigeria and is still happening, since the emergence of APC and Buhari in 2015, it was the day tragedy stroke Nigeria. Human welfare and human life's has been degraded severely. I have always maintained that the APC & Emilokun ideology cannot bring development to Nigeria. An ideology anchored on Palliatives, propaganda, and patronage doesn't have development inside it. |

Let me tell you the tricks they play. Technically, Primary school teachers are under the employ of the LGs. So when they were implementing the minimum wage they left them out and only activated the new wage for core state govt workers. Meanwhile same governor is cornering all the LG allocations to the centre. Also, the only workers who got a significant raise in their pay where those earning less than 70k before the new wage. As for those earning more, most got an increment of less than 5k. Uba Sani leadership thrives on propaganda. He over exaggerates every little thing he does. The state has really retrogressed in terms of governance. |

U09ce:He has placed known PR merchants and senior databoys with zero morality like Omojuwa on retainership to launder his image online while he runs the most mediocre government ever in the history of Kaduna. It smacks of low self-esteem.

U09ce:You're seeing August alert of 64k and you're talking about increment...abi lecturers are not supposed to enjoy minimum wage? Lecturer in level 8 collecting 64k, what will people in level 3 and 4 be collecting? And you're saying he increased salary? |

simonlee:I was talking about the core civil servants in MDAs. The situation in state's tertiary institutions is terrible. That means a Level 8 secondary school teacher now earns more than a poly lecturer. |
