Good evening, please I need your assistance. I want to renew my passport but I have an issue of name mismatch.
On my old passport, my first name is Tope but on my nin my first name is Saheed. So, the system generated a prompt that I must correct the mismatch before going ahead, my first name is Tope, so I need to correct my nin. How do I go about it please?

I went for my appointment today and I spent about 2hrs:30 mins there owing to the fact that my status needed to be vetted. I didn’t pay anybody or did anybody asked for payment but what I did noticed was that anyone I went to meet the first question they ask was who’s doing it for me. Capturing was smooth and I was done with it in less than 6 minutes. Nobody asked about the photocopies of the birth certificate, local government certificate or anything. They just verified the original copies against what I filled in the application form.
If your application has been vetted before you get there you won’t spend 1hr in the place and lastly make sure your details on your birth certificate, local government certificate, NIN all matches and if not get your affidavit.
After I was done with the capturing I was given a receipt with the collection date on it I saw 9/12/2025

I registered for a new passport, still waiting for approval, but I have two errors, 1, my place of birth on my nin is different from my place of birth on my birth attestation. 2. I submitted old photocopy birth certificate instead of birth attestation certificate. Please what's my faith, what should i expect?

My capturing is next week tuesday, but the application is still showing waiting for approval

You won't be able to renew it.

Today was my my capturing day at alausa lagos, and i went there with all the issues above. Everything was corrected there and was captured. Cheers to DIY💪💪💪

Hello all, My passport was issued MAY 2016 and it expired MAY 2021, The question right now is that am I going to apply for a new or simply enrol for renewal ? Someone should please clarify that aspect for me (I understand the passport have been changed I stand to be corrected though ) and how much will it cost me DIY and also with agent ? Thanks and God bless you all

After capturing, you’d be given a white sheet of paper which you’d show to them when you want to come collect the passport. The collection date is somewhere at the bottom right corner or so

You will enroll for renewal
Don't use any agent...DIY

It would be ready before then.

Track it online and check there in about 3/4 weeks.

Worst case tag them on Twitter if it's not ready.

I was captured at the VIP section of the office. The white small paper given to me has same date of capturing on it. I don't know what that means. I've checked the website tracker it is on the last "yet issued" stage

Different immigration office. Ikoyi for instance give a sheet of paper with the date you captured and your name.


At most check back there with that paper in 3 or 4 weeks

You need to apply for correction of data. I have the same issue too, but I have not been able upload my passport photograph. I keep getting the error message " Your image processing request cannot be processed at this time, please try again later."

Use the self-service modification website of NIN to correct the error.
You will need a copy of identity card or document from government showing the rightful arrangements, and an affidavit.

And follow up when done with the corrections with email contact or calling for faster rectification, and validation.

Then initiate the international passport renewal again. when I did mine, cost 21usd (cost 20usd plus 1usd service charge).

Alternatively, visit the NIMC office closest to you with the documents, and payment fee to initiate the correction.

Good morning chief. I did my biometrics last week Monday 15th of September and till now my tracker is still on pending for NIN verification stage. Is this normal? It is exactly 8 days after biometrics and it is still on that stage. Although I did change of data.. Could it be the reason why it is stuck on that stage. Should I be worried?

I’m guessing it’s ready for pickup.
When you did the capturing what was the collection date on the paper. I did mine 6 days after you did yours and the collection date was in December
