I don't understand why people build super structures like this in the village when a simple 3 or 4 bedroom flat would have been enough, and easily be let out thereafter. Look at how this mansion has turned to a relic and eyesore, wasting away. Who is going to live inside? This structure is going to be desolate forever because it is too massive to be renovated and occupied by a single individual. Infact, it can comfortably house all the entire population of Ezinifite .

This could have been a great boost for tourism if we lived in a country where heroes are truly celebrated. The state government, in collaboration with the family, could renovate the site and develop it into a tourist attraction.

This is the fate of majority of the mansions people build in the villages. Cant be sold, too expensive to maintain when the owners dies, the children are abroad or lagos/abuja/ph based and dont have strong connections to the village. But hey am still a poor man so i may not understand 😀

The problem begins with sending your children abroad the moment you get small money. Kids who grew up abroad would definitely have little or no connection to the homeland. If he had children who are rooted in Nigeria, that house wouldn't be in that condition. The boys can share sections of the house and not bother about building anything else for themselves.

There might also be other back stories to the house as to why no one wants to live there after the demise of the owner.
