RCCG needs to do more for Rev Akindayomi! A lot of people outside the church don’t know him. Many people think Pastor Adeboye is the founder of RCCG. He deserves his flowers because it isn’t naturally easy overlooking your family and handing over your ministry to someone else. My humble suggestions: - I would suggest that RCCG should copy what CCC do for their founder, Late Rev Oshoffa. They ensure in all their programs, books and posters, his name is number 1,visibly prominent with his picture and acknowledged as the founder of the church. -Similarly, all donations and projects from the church like dialysis centres and hospitals should have his name included. For example the ‘ Pastor Adeboye Dialysis centre in Ilesha could be named Rev Akindayomi/Pst Adeboye Dialysis centre. -The redeemers’ university and schools can be named after him to immortalise his name. Also, his surviving kids can be given full ownership of at least one secondary school each. I believe if these suggestions are prayerfully considered and possibly implemented,it would make the Akindayomi family happier. It would also send a positive signal to other general overseers who are having doubts and fears about handing over their ministries to non-family members. God bless RCCG! Dae Jumong 16/9/25

That is not how the things of the spirit work bro. He ran his race… a good cause and has gone back to give account of his stewardship. Here is a background of EA Adeboye’s emergence: Enoch Adejare Adeboye became the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 1981 after the founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, passed away and his posthumous sealed pronouncement was read, appointing Adeboye to the leadership role. Adeboye, a university lecturer at the time, had initially resisted the nomination but was compelled by God to accept the position after Akindayomi insisted, saying he had a divine mandate. Initial Rejection and Divine Revelation Adeboye joined the RCCG in 1973 and served as an interpreter for Pa Akindayomi before being ordained a pastor in 1975. In 1977, the church founder, Akindayomi, received a divine revelation that Adeboye would succeed him, despite Adeboye not yet being born again at the time. When Akindayomi told Adeboye he would succeed him, Adeboye, then a university lecturer, rejected the idea, fearing the loss of his academic career and comfortable life. Divine Compulsion and Appointment Akindayomi insisted on the divine will, telling Adeboye that "God has told me to ordain you as a pastor" and that "You are going to succeed me". After Akindayomi's death in November 1980, his sealed pronouncement naming Adeboye as his successor was read in January 1981. This divine orchestration, despite Adeboye's initial reluctance, led to his official appointment as the General Overseer. Transition to Full-Time Ministry After taking on the leadership, Adeboye left his academic position to devote himself fully to the church, setting a new vision for RCCG. So, bro let’s keep emotions and feelings aside and face the gospel. |

That he ran his race and completed his cause, doesn't mean he shouldn't be honoured as the OP suggested. The reality is that many younger people know very little about the founder of the RCCG. I’m not sure if this is a deliberate effort to erase him from the church's history. coolcharm: |

Efuaye:The road leading to the New auditorium and other centers was named after the Founder, his family members are regularly funds from the mission, I think you should make your findings about the benefits the family is getting from the church. |

Daejumong:OP, you did well to have dug into archives to substantiate your points but I still feel you did not dig well enough to know many things are playing out in the background as regards regular fundings, cares and support being given to the Akindayomi's family |

Daejumong:Has the founder been dishonoured in anyway? What do you know about being honoured? Is it wrong using the name "Redeemer" as University name? Pastor E.A Adeboye still acknowledges his predesuccessor. I'm sure if there is any need about his family, he would take care of it because he isn't heartless. |

You are saying this because Churchians aren't practicing Christianity rather they are worshiping Mammon. Matthew 6:19-21 In the first century nothing was given to Mary the woman who survived Jesus as his mother Jesus only introduced Mary to apostle John to cater for her now that she has become a believer {John 19:26-27} John must take good care of Mary as his own mother because that's what Jesus taught them by words and deeds! Matthew 12:46-50 But today material possessions is what everyone is targeting as blessing from God instead of approve standing with God! Luke 12:21 |
