A 22-year-old innovator, Ibrahiem Bala, from Bichi Local Government Area in Kano State, Nigeria, has developed a unique pair of glasses called the “Driver’s Anti-Sleep Alarm Device.” The invention is designed to combat drowsy driving by detecting when a driver’s eyes remain closed for a specific period, immediately triggering an alarm to alert them.

Bala explained that the idea came after a tragic accident earlier in 2025, where several young athletes from Kano lost their lives when their vehicle crashed due to the driver reportedly falling asleep at the wheel. According to him, the gadget was created to help curb such preventable road accidents linked to fatigue.

Good innovative. But will drivers use it. Am an optician, most driver reject some eye wears recommend to them. 60% of commercial driver have one or two eye defects. I know of some drivers who drive with one eye.
