Daniel207:May their souls rest in peace. We need to be very careful with inverters. In 2007 in Abuja, at a Plaza in Area 7, that was how inverter batteries burst into fire. It was an ISP, those on duty tamed the fire. Also, highly inflammable products should not be allowed close to inverter batteries array. The Circuit breakers and switches should be original and of high quality. |

Why wasn't there a swift response from the fire service? Kudos to the men who selflessly went out of their way to save lives. |

This is why we should not stop calling out government officials. So a state like Lagos that generates the greatest IGR in the world does not have at least one fire truck with crane that can reach high rise buildings? The masterclass state with masterclass plan by a masterclass strategist has no fire evacuation plan ![]() |

Gab1976:Valid questions. Is there no safety equipment in the building to curtail fire? Do they have water pipes to deal with fire incident? You can't rewrite what has happened but the authorities should do a check on all buildings above 4 floors. |

People should show empathy to the victims rather than praise Elumelu who endangered his Staff by not providing adequate fire escape units in the corporate building. This is shocking that there are no risk assessments in place for such a building in the Broad Street 😞 Cho cho cho...! I'm attending General Assembly...who asked where you're going ⁉️ Unsolicited explanation to deviate from the sad narrative. |

I don’t want to believe that such a building doesn’t have emergency exits and even sprinklers on each floors? |

43Ronin:Bro, the thing tire person o. All the nonsense and dwarf fire stations wey full Lagos cannot boast of one single fire truck with a manlift/crane that can take off people trapped in high rises.. E no go better for these people o |

Most likely the stairways were filled with smoke and the elevators were probably not working. So they were trapped in the smoke. I guess the fire drills didn't prepare for when the stairs or bottom floors become engulf in fire. I believe we all can to learn from this. RIP to the death |

seunH:Which US are you talking about ? Have you ever heard of wrongful death lawsuit ? What it insurance that caused the death of the employees? The owner of the building and UBA are liable for the death of those employees as there should have been adequate means for evacuating the building during an emergency. There should have been fire drills conducted and adequate means of egress during an emergency.Google is your friend. |

Olu1000:Not at all Sir, insurance covers for acts known as negligence and unforseen circumstances which the events of UBA falls under and would be compensated. It is only acts done on purpose or other exclusions that are not covered. Even if there is going to be any lawsuit, it would be the insurance company versus the victims of the fire |

Interesting as some people were saying / suggesting he did the right thing by travelling back, well maybe. But absolutely useless - medicine after death Just a thought, what manner of organization or company will subject their workers to such working environment? A place where I am certain they've never done fire drill ever. Yet the same building is housing all manner of BIG Men / Madam Ogas! (DMD, ED, Manager this and that, CFO. All of them with driver and all manner of unjustifiable official perks. These same people forgot themselves over time and continue to work in such a building. Risking their lives - No escape route. No first responders. No Health and Safety department. Yet they all answer yes Oga/madam. ![]() Small time the owner will be gallivanting all over the place claiming to be super rich - Abeg, of what benefit is your riches if the same "rich man" subject people that work for him (in a supposedly flagship branch) into some inhumane working environment that is almost certain might kill them eventually? Why? Honestly, they all need to organize and demand a better working condition - or work remotely. Simple. It is really painful because these are avoidable things and situations. It is very basic for an employer to make determination to ensure the safety of its workers /employees. It will not Suprise me if their HR never employed anyone with Health and Safety background. Yet, they have HR Director or MD sef. Typical naija mindset - what does Health / safety employee doing working in a bank. They'll say forget "na money dem dey count for bank o". Very corrupt mindset. |
