You can't fake greatness. Alafin is way above Oni. But the fact alone that they both added the title of the Benin monarch to their respective names tells you who's boss. Never will you hear the Oba refer to himself as Oni or alafin. The Oba doesn't copy, his empire (Benin) remains original while the wannabes copy. So once again, alafin beats Oni of Ife hands down, Ife was a small chiefdom until 1912, the British built Ife from that period and elevated the Oni.
