bassdow:I've seen some advanced mix of lead and lithium on YouTube. Some people said it can be done with good BMS or separating the two battery types, with the lithium acting as a charger. There is a possibility of using a load-based function to stop the voltage sag of lead using the lithium, when large loads are applied. I want to know any Naija man wey don do am. |

Tdoctor:I have connected an LFP and SLA together before, in parallel. It worked ok. I set the CC settings to favour the lead acid though. The LFP BMS simply protects the lithium |

Reports coming out suggest that the Afriland Towers Fire was started in the INVERTER ROOM. "According to the Federal Fire Service team leader from Ebute Metta, Mr Ehimen Momoh, the fire started from an inverter battery in the basement and spread to a parked Toyota Sienna and a motorcycle, both of which were completely burnt. Other vehicles in the basement were, however, saved." Its very important that if you are installing solar systems to get EXPERIENCED installers who calculate load, wiring sizes and use fuses, breakers properly. Ensure that you also install smoke detectors and a fire extinguisher nearby in case of fire. |

abuzz33:Think it isn't very likely that such a facility would use hacks to handle their solar installation. As long as it's electricity, there's always a risk of fire--doesn't necessarily have to be a case of bad installation. But yeah, things like smoke detectors and extinguishers are always necessary to mitigate damage if it happens. |

Penuelseun:A delusion is an unshakeable, false belief that is maintained despite clear evidence to the contrary. The use of the word wasn’t meant to be disrespect. However, for the records, he opened “your” eyes. Some of us knew about solar before Nairaland. Just because he or anyone else opens or starts a thread, it now means they cannot be mentioned and they should be treated like “gods?” |

Hi guys, does anyone know why some manufacturers say you can't parallel their LFP. My thinking was one should be able to parallel LFP since they have separate BMS .Just asking for knowledge sake |

abuzz33:I've personally seen a fire that started in an inverter room at a bank, and it turned out a faulty AC was the culprit. The AC caught fire, and melted rubber dripped onto batteries stacked below it, which were subsequently engulfed in flames. Without the CCTV video, many might have thought the inverter system was to blame. Anyway, nothing still beats using experienced installers or workers for your job. You can't cheap out on safety. Also, I wonder why our tall buildings in Nigeria don't have fire escapes. This is especially concerning since our Fire Service lacks the capacity to rescue people stuck in high-rises during fires. I just hope people install fire safety devices, like FM-200 fire extinguishers, in such sensitive areas |

@ dam5reey1 and others, please which is better to use, Haisic 25.6v 8kwh battery or Sungene 25.6v 300ah lithium battery. Dam5reey1, have you done capacity check and tear down of any? Any good result from them These 2 batteries appears to be cheaper and compared to DIY of mrreed and valto. |

Good morning to you all Please I need the in house utmost input. My akt 120w solar flood light (with separate panels), the panel was cart away by unknown person leaving the light casing. I've been searching for possible solutions to continue using the solar flood light either by getting another panel that could fit into the kit or probably tap D.C current from an another solar panel of 50w through the charge controller(to charge eclectic fence wizard4 machine battery) and cut the kit end on the solar flood light casing and join the wire (Note the original solar panel that comes with it stated 15w, 6v and 3A). Please I need the house input on this DIY Thanks in anticipation.

omotoda:I don't see any technical reason why you can not connect batteries with same chemistry and similar voltages in parallel. When batteries are conncetd in parallel, they act as individual batteries merely taking and contributing to the pool based on their internal resistance which depends on capacity and voltage. During charging, they take what they need and stop taking once they are full. During discharging, they give whatever they have until their voltages get to that of thers in the parrallel configuration. It is the same behaviour whether there is a BMS or not. However, manufacturers sometimes give specific instructions about their products, not for technical reasons, but for warranty purposes. It gives them the opportunity to dodge warranty claims if they can prove that your usage was "out of specification". It also helps them simplify troubleshooting when their is a problem. By the way, I currently run four LFP batteries in parrallel. Two have JK-BMS, one has an ANT BMS and the last has a JBD BMS. They have been running in harmony for years now with no problem. I'm able to monitor the performance of each of them through their smart BMSes. |

abuzz33:Which means that there was nothing installed so they could remotely monitor that room and the installations therein so that they could respond before the crisis got out of control. When building alternative power supplies for critical infrastructure such as that building, we aren't supposed to stop at just the power equipment, but there should be sensors and meters monitoring the alternative power supply as well as people assigned to monitor those sensors and meters on shift. At the electricity utility level, we have SCADA. There is something similar available for such a building so sad. |

Well sorry to burst your bubble , we plenty still using lead acid. And years are counting and no regrets. If that eats up, my brother go hug transformer . |
