Government intervene to ensure the people are not exploited by high prices, low prices is good for the people and economy, and this is what Dangote is bringing to the table. Subsidy is a way of giving back to the citizens, it has nothing to do with deregulation... subsidy, welfare etc are government obligation to the people, exists exclusively. stop derailing the topic.

The late ifeanyi ubah was importing 50% of pms to Nigeria under Jonathan government and also others but didn't want to build a refinery cos they were making a lot of money through subsidy that obi even called organize crime but Dangote came to the rescue. We all saw how ifeanyi ubah lived then and when buhari came , he favoured others and he was not importing again and all of a sudden before his death, he was enmeshed with series of debt. It is applicable to many of others too. All president since the collapse of the country refineries deliberately didn't fix them to work.They will allocate a large sum of money for turnaround which can start to build a fresh one and loot the money.. Those importers are also remit to the president and top government functionary. Tinubu is also doing same thing too in regards to turnaround of the refinery. You can't be selling crude in dollars and also allocating quarter of Dangote refinery need and when sourced abroad and also paid in dollar and you expect him to sell cheap.

He is just an illiterate. The late ifeanyi ubah was the biggest importer of pms under Jonathan likewise AA Rano under buhari. Dangote has never been an oil marketer cum importer. Igbos are just too bitter when someone from another zone is doing better than them because they pride themselves as the best business people which is actually not. Most of this guys don't know the difference between a trader and an industrialist.

I understand the concerns of NUPENG and other players in the petroleum sector. Most of them are small players who need to survive to meet their financial obligations to investors, banks, employees, and other stakeholders.

In an ideal system, I would have advocated for them to be protected. But given their antecedent and how they've abused their privilege, cheating the Nigerian masses to amass wealth, going on unnecessary strikes, and causing needless scarcity of petroleum products, I totally support Dangote. These unions have held the Nigerian masses down for too long, and now is the time to get rid of them all.

No, in free economy like the America, they do not practice free market system. We are too poor for that. Govt regulates essential goods and services. Even in America, the govt still provide fuel subsidy. If not, anybody can wake up and sell fuel 2k dollars for a litre.

Nigeria couldn't sustain fuel subsidy simply because the importers and top government officials and even to a large extend president shortage Nigeria. How come from Obasanjo time till now, government couldn't build even just a brand new refinery.

NUPENG accusing Dangote of monopoly is a first class joke in there buffet of foolery. This guy's practically held the country blockus for decades coming up with threats upon threats of strike, scarcity or any strategy possible so as to milk funds from the poor masses. They monopolized the sector and turn there to there play ground. Can you imagine, they are now accusing Dangote that came on board just few months ago of monopoly? Wonderful!!

The really problem of crude oil and it's finished products circulation in Nigeria are govt and private depots owners.

The govt could do a PPP arrangements to run the Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries while paying more attention on exploration quantity and standards.

The problem of scarcity were creation of private depots owners and their saboteurs colleagues in govt. They failed to produce at home by building a refinery but hoped on the huge fraud of subsidies to kill Nigerian. The removal of subsidies has plunged majority of these private depots in problem. They will eventually shot down. It's the reason they want Dangote to align with thier survival strategy.

Dangote should mandate his workers to sign an MOU against joining unions. The unions hasn't done anything meaningful since thier creation. They didn't focus on truck maintenance, staff welfare etc. For example, truck drivers are the poorest in the oil and gas business.
