Schools, especially private schools are increasingly shifting class works to busy parents in the name of homework, and denying children rest time at home. Why will children below 8 years come back from school at 4:30pm-5:00pm, and leave before 8:am the next day?

Why is a child who hasn't started talking enrolled in a school?
An innocent girl who should be enjoying her early childhood toddling around playing.

It is true that some of these Assignments usually triggers ones intellect but I am not paying that amount in fees to trigger my own intellect but that of the child.

Assignments teachers are not even interested in whether it was done or not. It just to impress the parents that learning is going on.

It goes both ways, school play their roles while at home he complement their efforts.by so doing he will bond with his child and even detect any errors from the part of the school if there is any.Many parents don't have time for their wards this days

My believe is dat once u r a university graduate u should be able to take maths and English... For science students, chemistry and physics to some extent or at least have an idea

What is a toddler of 2 years of age doing in a school. She is not to be in school at this age in the first instance. In a saner clime, the school authority is supposed to be sanctioned.

You start school at 3 years old

They want their children to start school early as possible

So they can brag to their friends that their child graduated secondary school at 14 or 15

According to you, your child cannot speak at 2- teacher dey give you opportunity to bond with your daughter and talk more with her to help activate her talking skills, you are complaining
They want to outsource all part of parenting to teachers, when their children eventually turns bad, they start blaming teachers and schools
They are giving you a great opportunity to have a solid input in how your child will turn out, you are talking on social media.
You dont want to start moulding your child at 2, useless new generation parents.
If they are not complaining of home work they are giving their kids, they will be doing yahoo yahoo or making tapes with boyfriends

I understand that feeling as a father myself. It ought to be one step at a time. At that stage, it's play group activities and not school work activities

My 2 year old daughter who could barely talk, let alone read, was given a list of books worth 28 thousand naira. Of course I know as e dey go, but I just decided to overlook. Wetin man go do na!

Everybody Sha Wan trend. Any small thing dem don carry am go social media. What's the fuss about an assignment? You are paying huge amount of money, so do everybody. Teachers can't do it alone. Play your own part. Do the damn assignment for the child and keep quiet. If you know you can't cope with assignments then carry your pikin go where dem no dey give assignments now.

Children should not start school till they are 3-4 years old. Those schools won't teach them a thang. Let them develop at their own pace.

For me oo, this is not about being stingy,but my children will be schooled at home until they are six to enter primary 1 ( one ). I no fit waste school fees at under six learning A for apple when they can get that from tablets, online even A.I now. During our own time, na so we take start school, at six years, before that years,every other thing na wash.

This is my submission: Private schools in Nigeria give homework to 2-year-olds primarily to meet parental demand for visible academic progress and to market themselves as elite institutions.

I must admit, this practice is not based on educational best practices and can be counterproductive. In Finland, schools there strongly believe that the assignment for a toddler is to play, rest, and spend quality time with their family. They see the home as a separate but equally important environment for learning life skills, not as an extension of the academic classroom.
The Nigerian government could stop this practice through the Federal and State Ministries of Education with rigid enforcement.

The best learning for a toddler happens through guided play, exploration, and rich social interaction, not through structured worksheets.

Hmmm... I'm sure no primary school would mandate those long hours. They just create the extra classes to accommodate busy parents and cash in on it. Not that the kids learn 8 to 5pm

If he knows the girl can't write ,it does not mean,others in her class can't do it.
Most importantly,the man should Stop taking the baby girl to the School - for he doesn't know her daughter abilities well.
For example,some Children display extra - abilities with their Teachers - than being Shy at home.
