Modifications, whether genetic or not, have been happening to our foods for almost a century.

Your problem or question shouldn't be whether it's GMO... It should be if it was well or properly modified to suit your body and health needs.

So, genetic modifications remain inevitable... The main issue should be if they are being done to suitably improve the human systems.

It's just taking a natural gene from a living organism and introducing it to another natural specie(plant) to improve specific traits such as shelf life, maturity, bacteria resistant, insect resistant, survive harsh environments, etc ..

If u remember ur highschool biology....Long before GMO tech came we've been doing grafting where we cut ans merge different plants together to produce desired crop products....

At the end of the day...all species of the planet have some similarities in their genome when compared,...so a little bit of tweaking isn't a bad idea.....but there are ethical concerns when it comes to doing so to humans that are more complex organisms...

This is as a result of the rapid action of bacterial growth within the watermelon which produces gases as byproduct of metabolism
